Chapter 897: The Fleet Sets Sail
It seems that the conflicts that erupted one after another in the Arctic Circle previously attracted too much attention, and also caused their own forces to expose quite a few things.
Following an abrupt battle between Sun Cheng and Onslaught, Earth unexpectedly ushered in a rare period of peace for the next six months or so.
During these six months and more, only two small-scale battles between Autobots and Decepticons broke out in the Africa region.
In other regions on Earth, it was difficult to see traces of not just Autobots, but even Decepticons.
"This is not a good sign!"
Inside Base No. 2 in South America, Sun Cheng's expression was somewhat grave.
Ever since the conflict with Onslaught erupted, he had stayed within South America for a full seven months after returning from the Arctic Circle, constantly guarding carefully against attacks from Onslaught and his Combaticons.
He could not help but be cautious; the previous battle with Bruticus had allowed Sun Cheng to personally experience once again the terror of facing such a war monster.
Unless he possessed a Giant Combiner capable of contending with it, it would be very strenuous for Sun Cheng if Onslaught and his Combaticons really attacked.
Because of this concern, after returning from the Arctic Circle, he personally led the team in charge of security work.
However, seven months had passed in a flash.
Not only was there absolutely no news from Onslaught and the Combaticons, but even the Moon had recently fallen completely silent.
In these few months, very few ignorant Decepticons had entered South American territory to provide more combat experience for Sun Cheng and the Decepticons under his command.
The Autobots were also a big problem.
Although Sun Cheng previously had the idea of meeting with Optimus Prime and conducting a secret talk.
Yet, several times he tried to proactively contact Optimus Prime and the Autobots using the contact methods left behind, but he was unable to get a response.
It just so happened that Sun Cheng did not dare to head to Africa under such unclear circumstances; after all, it was highly probable that Sentinel Prime had already been reawakened by the Autobots.
This former Leader, at his peak, had relied on his own powerful combat strength to easily crush Megatron, forcing that ambitious hero to join forces with Shockwave, Soundwave, Starscream, and multiple high-level Decepticon commanders just to be able to contend with him.
Through that battle with Onslaught, Sun Cheng could now be considered to have weighed his own worth.
With his current strength, among the Elite Warriors of the Autobots and Decepticons, only a very small number of Triple Changers, or ancient existences like Onslaught, could fight him to a draw.
However, Sun Cheng ultimately lacked some foundation; he was still far from being a true Leader, and naturally, he could not possibly be an opponent for Sentinel Prime.
Being unable to contact the Autobots at all made his heart inevitably grow somewhat restless.
But the experience of the past few years in the 【Transformers Universe】 also made Sun Cheng realize that the more such a situation occurred, the more he needed to be calm and composed.
Therefore, during the past six months or more of peaceful waiting, he had still been pushing forward methodically according to his original plan.
The four Explorer-class Cargo Spaceships that had been completely built had now not only finished all debugging, acceptance, and crew selection.
At the same time, the training flight duration for three of these Explorer-class Cargo Spaceships had each increased to over one thousand hours.
After all, there were too many eyes staring at South America and Earth now; even though Sun Cheng had ordered his Decepticon Engineers to add an Optical Stealth System inside the ships when redesigning the Explorer-class Cargo Spaceships.
But one could imagine how terrifying the energy consumption would be to provide an Optical Stealth Device for a medium-sized cargo spaceship, and how much space it would occupy inside the cabin.
Moreover, an Optical Stealth Device could at best only block prying from those forces that had not yet entered interstellar civilization.
Sun Cheng also could not be certain whether the Decepticons and Autobots had discovered the four Explorer-class Cargo Spaceships.
However, judging from the fact that Base No. 2 currently located in South America had not suffered a large-scale invasion, the result should be relatively ideal.
Sun Cheng had always been merciless in eliminating Decepticons and Autobots who actively approached South America, and forced in his attitude toward driving away the latter; therefore, even if there were Decepticons and Autobots hiding within the South American region, it was very difficult for them to entrench themselves for a long time, and at most they would stay for a period to spy on some intelligence before having to withdraw.
The Autobots and Decepticons who had currently arrived on Earth were now starting to climb the technology tree again from scratch, and should not yet be able to manufacture super-large detectors that could cover the entire planet.
Although planets larger than Earth were everywhere in the universe, Earth, with a surface area of over 500 million square kilometers, was still very large.
So a few cargo spaceships less than a thousand meters long were not as conspicuous as one might imagine.
"Commander!"
A cold mechanical voice from behind suddenly interrupted Sun Cheng's train of thought.
He did not turn around, because the arrival of the voice's owner had already been noticed in advance by him, as he had been so vigilant in recent months that he was somewhat neurotic.
The increasingly steady Thunder was now perfectly capable of serving as the temporary Commander of Base No. 2.
He had already figured out Sun Cheng's personality, and after walking closer, he spoke directly: "All supplies have been loaded onto the three ships, and those Engineers, Technical Officers, Decepticon Warriors, and Workers selected earlier are also all ready to board!"
The three ships Thunder mentioned were the first three of the four Explorer-class Cargo Spaceships already built by Base No. 2.
Because the fourth ship was the last to be completed, it had not yet fully finished its flight training.
Although for the Decepticons, the fourth ship could be put into use at any time.
Anyway, even if the ship had problems, as long as it didn't explode in space, they could completely abandon the ship and leave, and there was a high probability they could use the miraculous constitution of the Cybertronians to save their lives.
But Sun Cheng was unwilling to see this scene, or rather, in his mind, the dozen or so Decepticon pilots controlling a ship were far less valuable than the ship and the cargo on board.
Therefore, he was more willing to be conservative, and only allowed each cargo spaceship to be put into use after it had passed a series of tests, debugging, and at least a thousand hours of outer space flight training.
Sun Cheng nodded slightly, "Let them board!"
The three Explorer-class Cargo Spaceships were about to transport as much as over 500,000 tons of supplies, and a force of over a thousand Decepticons, to the Mars Base.
The rare peace on Earth for the past six months or more did not make Sun Cheng feel a shred of peace of mind.
On the contrary, Sun Cheng had now begun to make preparations for the day when Base No. 2, hidden within South America, would be invaded or destroyed.
