Chapter 90: Chronicle

~7 min read 1,323 words

Time slipped away in a flash, and half a month had already passed in a hurry.

Late at night, in the deepest part of an abandoned Nuclear Missile Silo nearly a hundred meters below ground, inside a room that had been converted into a Laboratory.

Sun Cheng was buried in his work, facing rows of data on a giant monitor in front of him, his face thoughtful.

"... So that's how it is..."

Letting out a long breath, after several days of effort, Sun Cheng finally succeeded in extracting the Memory Chip from Blackout's Core.

Coupled with the Newborn Decepticon he had named "Xiaobai," who was willing to act as a lab rat for his experiments, and combined with some ancient legends in Frenzy's memory, Sun Cheng felt he had finally grasped some secrets regarding the 【Core】, 【Moban】, 【Spark】, and even the Cybertronian civilization.

The 【Spark】 is a concept that has existed since the very beginning of the birth of the Cybertronian civilization.

Legend has it that the 【Spark】 is the source of life and the seat of the soul for Cybertronians; it is the most crucial part of Mechanical Life, and without a 【Spark】, life cannot be conceived.

In the ancient era, the planet Cybertron was rich in resources, and it seems there was a long period of peace—the beginning of the Cybertronian civilization—when an extremely glorious Puluaimusi Wangchao once appeared on Cybertron, though it can no longer be verified.

Cybertronians at the beginning of their civilization possessed a complete system for conceiving life; just like humans on Earth, young Mechanical Life could be naturally conceived from a parent, and they possessed a 【Spark】 the moment they were born.

Later, the planet Cybertron encountered an invasion by the Quintessons, and the evil Quintessons cruelly ruled Cybertron for a very long time.

It was not until anger erupted amidst exploitation that the Cybertronians drove out the Quintessons through a revolution, ushering in the Ancient Council period, the most glorious and technologically advanced era on the planet Cybertron.

Since long ago, Cybertronians had been using different 【Moban】 (that is, modules) to distinguish between Scientists, Warriors, and workers, etc., much like human professions; it should be the predecessor of the 【Core】.

The Council of Ancients period was the most glorious segment of the ancient Cybertronian civilization, so Sun Cheng speculated that the 【Moban】 might have been born during this period.

Decay always follows glory; it seems that by the end of the Council of Ancients, the once-enlightened ruling class gradually became corrupt. Their long lives caused them to become obsessed with power struggles and indulgence, and thus exploitation began, along with the distinction between high and low status.

Conflicts with extraterrestrial civilizations such as the Eshemusi also exacerbated Cybertron's internal contradictions, and finally, those dissatisfied with the corrupt rule of the Council of Ancients rose up.

A war that lasted for who knows how many years finally broke out, and in the end, the insurgents representing the exploited class successfully destroyed the Council of Ancients, and also personally destroyed the most glorious era in Cybertronian civilization.

It was just that the victors this time could not enjoy peace for long; by the end of the Council of Ancients, racial prejudice began to emerge among the Cybertronians.

The warmongers, colonists, and conspirators banded together; they craved external expansion and possessed greater and more power—these were the original Decepticons.

Forces advocating for reflection, restraint, and stopping the extraction of the planet Cybertron's resources also emerged; they advocated for peace and called themselves Autobots.

At the birth of the two races, they might have still exercised restraint toward each other; after all, many high-ranking Decepticons and Autobot Commanders had fought side-by-side in the previous war against the Council of Ancients.

But as the differences between the two races became more and more serious, especially surrounding the rule of the planet Cybertron and the distribution of the Council of Ancients' legacy, the rift between the Decepticons and Autobots became increasingly severe and irreconcilable.

In the end, the Decepticons, who held the advantage in military forces, were the first to provoke conflict. The unyielding Autobots did not show weakness, and both sides carved out their own territories. No one expected that a war would evolve into a cruel civil war that almost destroyed the civilization of the planet Cybertron.

The cold war lasted for countless years, until earthquakes occurred constantly on Cybertron, volcanoes erupted, and even the oceans began to dry up; only then did the Decepticons and Autobots realize that the civil war had brought the planet Cybertron to the brink of destruction.

They were forced to sit at the negotiating table, and after a difficult struggle, they finally reached a ceasefire agreement that did not have much binding force.

Successive wars severely destroyed the Cybertronian civilization; no more Mechanical Life could be naturally conceived, resources were exhausted, civilization regressed, and technology suffered a huge disconnect because of this.

After the First Civil War ended, in order to maintain the survival of their race, both the Decepticons and the Autobots tacitly chose the same path: they destroyed all interstellar coordinates, sealed off the planet Cybertron, and the entire race entered a long slumber.

It was not until more than ten thousand years ago that the Decepticons and Autobots woke up from their slumber one after another, and not long after, there was a second new civil war that lasted for ten thousand years.

The concept of the 【Core】 did not appear in the ancient era of Cybertron. It is said that it might have been born at the hands of Shockwave. This great Scientist of the Decepticon Legion, in order to make up for the lack of troops in the Decepticon Legion after losing the ability to naturally conceive, researched a simplified and low-spec version of the 【Spark】 based on the 【Moban】, which also possessed the performance of a 【Moban】. Only then did the Decepticon Legion have a steady stream of Cannon Fodder and workers.

Therefore, strictly speaking, Sun Cheng's previous understanding of the 【Spark】 as a type of 【Core】 was actually incorrect.

As for why the Newborn Decepticons born after the radiation of the AllSpark were far inferior to the low-level Decepticon Cannon Fodder equipped with 【Core】s, Sun Cheng had also roughly guessed the reason.

The strength of a Decepticon's body affects the performance of the 【Core】 and 【Spark】. Xiaobai was originally nothing more than an ordinary coin-operated vending machine in Las Vegas; his foundation naturally could not be any better.

Besides that, the information and energy injected when the AllSpark transformed him were also very limited, which created a hollow shell that had a Spark but no corresponding strength.

While staring at the screen checking the data on it, he suddenly heard footsteps approaching from far to near. With a sweep of his Core, Sun Cheng immediately knew it was the scout he had sent out to carry out a Task a few days ago who had returned.

He immediately chose to save, storing the results he had achieved over these days onto the Server's hard drive.

Not long after, the scout's voice indeed rang out, "Master, the Task you entrusted to me has been completed, I have returned!"

PS:

1. I took time during the day to finish reading the official version of the Cybertronian chronicle, only to find that there are too many loopholes in it. Claims like civilization being born hundreds of millions of years ago or the civil war lasting millions of years are completely self-contradictory. Even if Cybertron were hundreds of times larger than Earth, anyone with a brain knows the resources would not be enough. I couldn't cite it directly, so I had to try to summarize a history of Cybertronian civilization myself, and this book is based on this foundation.

2. Thanks to the three readers "Confucius Says: Shakespeare Said," "Ultimate Warship," and "Second Dimension Girls Are Best" for their tips.
