Chapter 904: Primordial Titan and Shadow Guards
The first time he saw that behemoth beneath the ice lake, Sun Cheng felt the pulsing of the Spark within his body stall for a split second.
What a colossal behemoth it was!
Even though it was frozen beneath the ice lake, the head alone appeared to be nearly a hundred meters in diameter.
Those two empty eyes were like two caverns; Sun Cheng did not even doubt that with his current chassis, if the ice lake beneath his feet were to suddenly thaw, he could fall right through those two eye sockets.
"A Primordial Titan?!"
After locking eyes for only a few brief seconds with the hollow gaze of that behemoth, whose state of life or death was unknown,
Sun Cheng, feeling a chill run down his spine, shuddered for no reason and shifted his gaze elsewhere.
At the same time, the warnings written in Elder Script by those ancient Cybertronian Warriors outside this Laboratory flashed through his mind.
"Is it really a Primordial Titan? Did Maximus really hide a Primordial Titan here?"
Primordial Titans were super-giant Warriors that had appeared in the ancient era of Cybertron; their total number was unknown, and the only ones who left their names behind were Metroplex, Fortress Maximus, and Garuda.
These three Primordial Titans had only appeared briefly a few times in Cybertronian history, the most recent being at the very beginning of the Cybertronian Civil War millions of years ago.
On the planet Cybertron, there were many legends about Primordial Titans; some said that Primordial Titans, like Predacons, were the earliest life forms born on the planet Cybertron.
There was also a theory that they were the ultimate combat weapons created by the Quintessa Civilization that had once colonized Cybertron.
In ancient Cybertronian mythology, they were even touted as helpers created by the Creators to defend against the evil that sought to destroy the universe, just like the Thirteen Primes.
The size of the three Primordial Titans was so immense it was comparable to a mountain; in the Central Library of Cybertron during the era of the Council of Ancients, some ancient books and documents written by unknown authors left behind very contradictory data regarding them.
Some ancient books recorded that Primordial Titans stood over a thousand meters tall, while some even left behind the terrifying figure of tens of thousands of meters.
There were even some unverified documents that believed they were the incarnations of Cybertronian giant cities, which is why Primordial Titans had two other names: City-sized Transformer and City Transformer.
History, of course, could not be fully trusted, but although Sun Cheng had only just looked down at the giant head in the ice lake beneath his feet, not knowing if it was alive or dead, he felt a cold air as if it were about to freeze the Spark in his chest.
"Such a big guy, I really don't know how Maximus managed to get it in here!"
Shooting two beams of azure light from his eyes, Sun Cheng probed the thickness of the ice lake and the surrounding temperature.
Setting aside whether the giant Cybertronian beneath the ice lake suspected to be a Primordial Titan was alive or dead, even with his current strength and forces, he felt a lack of confidence when facing such a legendary, powerful Cybertronian.
Moreover, with the current technology of Mars Base and Base No. 2, whether they could ensure the giant creature under the ice lake remained alive was an unknown.
This Underground Ice Lake was very large; conservatively, the surface area must be at least several dozen square kilometers.
As an underground lake, this ice lake was already considered quite large.
However, except for the space near the entrance, the space deeper into the underground lake was exceptionally narrow, with lower areas no more than five or six meters high, the average cavern height not exceeding ten meters, and in some places, ice pillars formed by groundwater seeping from above had completely fused with the ice lake.
After Sun Cheng walked less than a kilometer forward on the hard, thick ice surface of the ice lake, he could no longer proceed.
The height of the cavern ahead became lower and lower, and the wide, thick ice pillars connecting the ice lake surface to the rock wall above also began to condense into walls in large numbers.
After checking slightly, he cast his gaze to one side, attempting to find another passable path.
As a result, the detection waves emitted from his eyes soon captured some anomalies.
About three or four hundred meters away, some ice pillars that had originally been fused with the rock wall above looked as if they had been destroyed by some Energy Weapon, and a large pile of shattered ice blocks had accumulated nearby.
And between the ice blocks and the ice pillars, a narrow passage about four meters high and three meters wide was maintained.
Just as he was curious, heavy footsteps suddenly rang out in this empty Underground Ice Lake space.
Sun Cheng's heart tightened, and he hurriedly gripped the Plasma Cannon in his hand.
Probing his gaze in the direction the sound came from, not long after, the expression on his face changed drastically.
A squad of five black-gray, ferocious-looking mechanical warriors was patrolling along the passage that had been artificially excavated between the ice pillars and ice blocks, heading toward him.
Not long after Sun Cheng noticed them, these few mechanical warriors soon discovered him as well.
Following a harsh, sharp shriek suddenly emitted by the leading mechanical warrior,
the scarlet electronic eye pupils of the squad of five mechanical warriors all aimed at Sun Cheng, and then, without any communication, the squad of five mechanical warriors immediately launched a charge at him without fear of death.
"What the hell are these things? Each one has the strength of an Advanced Warrior..."
Sun Cheng was not panicked; when he detected these mechanical warriors, he had inferred their strength from the energy fluctuations radiating from their bodies.
"Fierce charge, fearless of death... no reason to speak of, all attacks are aimed at severely wounding or even killing the target... even if it means injuring their own companions, they do not care..."
The Plasma Cannon had been put away by Sun Cheng once he determined the opponent's strength.
Wielding a handy Heavy Sword, he began to fight with the few mechanical warriors.
Between slashes, one mechanical warrior after another was continuously knocked flying by Sun Cheng with blunt force, only to charge back persistently.
He grabbed one mechanical warrior and held it in front of him.
As a result, its companion did not hesitate to pierce its chest with the weapon in its hand, then left a dent on Sun Cheng's chassis.
Despite this, the more he fought, the happier he became.
Because Sun Cheng had already realized what he was facing.
Shadow Guards, a type of Combat Robot legendarily manufactured by Maximus using Cybertronians as a blueprint.
They had no reason, not even the simplest logical thinking.
The birth of the Shadow Guards was for slaughter and combat; Maximus had branded hatred for life into the bones of the Shadow Guards, so they would do everything in their power to kill every living creature they could see, especially Cybertronians.
And those Sun Cheng was facing now were undoubtedly the dangerous, uncleared Shadow Guards that the ancient Cybertronian Warriors had mentioned outside the Laboratory door.
