Chapter 909: Arrangements
Sun Cheng did not think for long before he quickly reached a conclusion.
"The Decepticon Legion wants to divert Sentinel Prime's attention!"
This conclusion was not difficult to reach, as the Decepticon Legion currently did not have many strongholds left on Earth.
The Decepticon strongholds within the United States had been almost completely eradicated two years ago when the Autobots were still cooperating with the Americans.
Although it was possible that some Decepticons might return to rebuild strongholds in the vast and sparsely populated United States after their fallout with the Autobots,
as a military power that had studied Megatron's chassis for years, the Americans' technology and military strength were still beyond doubt.
At the very least, Sun Cheng himself felt that if Base No. 2 did not exhaust most of its resources, it would be difficult to win a conventional total war against the United States after a military conflict broke out.
With Base No. 2 in South America, Starscream had probed the area more than once, but the Decepticons sent were either killed or driven away.
The situation for the Decepticons in Asia was slightly better, but they should not be able to gain a firm foothold in East Asia.
There might be some Decepticon strongholds in the Northeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia regions.
It was unclear about Australia and Europe; after all, the U. S. military, in conjunction with the Autobots, had launched multiple sweeps there in the past few years, and Sun Cheng could not be sure how many Decepticons were still active there now.
Therefore, after abandoning all the mines in Africa, the various supplies that the Decepticon Legion could steal from Earth every year would be slashed by more than half.
Having paid such a high price, they must have some ulterior motive.
And after thinking it over, Sun Cheng felt there was no target more likely than himself, their potential rival.
"Alright!"
After figuring it out, he tapped his fingers on the conference table in the command room.
Immediately, the spacious command room fell silent.
"The Decepticon Legion withdrew from all their strongholds in Africa so easily for a very simple purpose: they want us to become the next target for Sentinel Prime, to destroy the fragile tacit understanding we have finally established with the Autobots!"
"The Autobots are still a very useful shield; at least with them around, even if the Decepticon Legion wants to take action against us, they dare not use their full strength, lest the Autobots reap the benefits."
He glanced at Thunder, "Go arrange the evacuation and abandon all strongholds in Africa! Since the Decepticon Legion wants to see us clash with the Autobots, we simply won't let them have their way."
Some low-voiced discussion broke out in the command room; some Decepticons were not reconciled to giving up the strongholds in Africa, because each stronghold meant at least one mine.
"Quiet!"
Sun Cheng gave a cold shout, causing the restless command room to fall silent once again.
"I know you are very unwilling, but our things are not so easy to take. Mola, how long will it take you to determine Optimus Prime's location?"
The Decepticon Legion wanted to use Sentinel Prime's hand to cause them trouble, but Sun Cheng was no pushover; there was no reason to be bullied without fighting back.
Mola thought for a moment, "The last time the satellite captured Optimus Prime, he was suspected to be heading toward the primeval forest region of West Africa. The other Autobots who left New Iacon later also headed in that direction. It is difficult for the satellite to track him in the primeval forest, but if you, Commander, allow us to send drones into the territory to search, we should be able to find him within two days."
The drones he mentioned were naturally not the ordinary drones manufactured by various countries on Earth.
They were a type of supersonic unmanned aerial vehicle developed by the Decepticons under Sun Cheng, referencing drones and various military aircraft on Earth, specifically for infiltrating enemy countries and collecting various intelligence.
It was small in size, with a total weight of only 3,742 kilograms, not even four tons.
But its astonishing propulsion system allowed it to ascend to an altitude of 14,000 meters and possess a supersonic flight capability of nearly Mach 2.17 for a short period.
When cruising at a speed of 470 kilometers per hour, it could even fly continuously for 19,000 kilometers.
The Decepticon engineers upgraded the Fly Eye System copied from the Polar Bear into a more advanced optical aerial camera system, which could capture decimeter-level targets on the ground at an altitude of 7,400 meters in cloudless conditions; in bad weather, it could also capture targets of meter-level or larger.
The most expensive part was a special reconnaissance radar for Cybertronians, which possessed the ability to perform rapid electromagnetic spectrum detection of a circular area with a radius of about 15 kilometers on the ground, which was roughly an area of more than 700 square kilometers.
The production cost of this thing was not low; the production price of one unit was almost one-fifth that of a Golden Eagle Fighter.
The key was that this thing did not have, nor was it necessary to give it, combat capabilities, so its status was that of a transitional piece of equipment.
Therefore, even Base No. 2 currently only produced a dozen of these, which were mainly deployed in South America and the surrounding waters for combat readiness patrols to supplement the satellite system, which had surveillance blind spots above the sky.
Sun Cheng thought for a moment and agreed.
"The base will allocate two drones to you; I want to find Optimus Prime as soon as possible!"
Although this drone model, modified by the base, had a somewhat awkward status internally, its technological level was still there.
Except for the United States, China, and Russia, the military equipment of other human countries on Earth basically could not shoot this thing down; the only things that could threaten it were the Decepticon Legion and the Autobots.
The Decepticons had already mostly withdrawn from Africa; if they were truly unlucky enough to encounter the Autobots, losing one or two units was not unacceptable.
After giving instructions to strengthen vigilance in South America, Sun Cheng was still not at ease; he sent six more Advanced Warriors to the Black Market currently managed by the Pioneer, and added two more missile air defense battalions before dismissing the meeting.
The group of Decepticons each had their own jurisdiction, and few stayed at the Central Main Control Base, so they soon returned to their respective jurisdictions, and even Thunder went to arrange Sun Cheng's new instructions.
Once they left, Sun Cheng sat in the command room and began to think about his next plan.
Currently, the clouds of war on Earth were becoming increasingly heavy.
Although Sun Cheng had previously speculated that Optimus Prime might not be able to defeat Sentinel Prime and would abdicate, he did not expect Sentinel Prime to take control of New Iacon so quickly, and immediately launch actions against the Decepticon Legion and them after taking power.
The reaction of the Decepticon Legion, or rather Starscream, also gave Sun Cheng a sense of something ominous.
Both sides were now unable to sit still, and the 'peace' that had been arduously maintained on Earth for two years would likely end because of this.
"Must find Optimus Prime as soon as possible and let this young Leader of the Autobots stand up again."
