Chapter 911: Rendezvous

~7 min read 1,334 words

One day later, Optimus Prime, who had already entered the borders of Guinea, finally found a quiet place at the junction of the Ivory Coast and Liberia.

He stopped in front of a small lake deep in the rarely visited forest, preparing to rest there for a few days and, incidentally, calm his mood.

The betrayal of his teacher, Sentinel Prime, was a massive blow to him.

However, for Optimus Prime, an even greater blow was the chain reaction caused by this event, which left him completely unable to see the future of the Autobots.

Late at night, lying in a clearing in front of the lake, Optimus Prime looked up at the sky, letting some small animals that came out at night to drink water and move about be around his body, or even climb onto his body, without reacting.

Still looking at the direction in the starry sky where their home planet, Cybertron, was located, Optimus Prime thought about some things in a daze.

Their home planet, Cybertron, was basically beyond saving.

A civil war that lasted for millions of years had completely destroyed the homeland that both sides of the war relied on for survival.

Almost all the mineral veins that could be found on the planet Cybertron had been completely exhausted by both sides of the war.

The oceans were dried up, the mountain ranges were fractured, and even the star core of the home planet had been installed with a series of energy conversion devices in the middle and late stages of the war, providing massive amounts of energy for the Decepticon Legion.

After the civil war ended, the Autobot scientists specifically conducted a deduction of the situation on their home planet, Cybertron.

They believed that in the best-case scenario, if Cybertron were never destroyed again, it would still take tens of millions to hundreds of millions of years for the planet to have a slim chance of returning to its pre-civil war state, under the effect of the planet's self-repairing power.

This was also one of the reasons why a large number of Autobots were sent into the universe after the war to find a second home.

And Earth was exactly the second home that Optimus Prime had originally planned to find for the Autobots.

But it looks like that is probably gone now.

"Teacher, you are trying to drag Earth into our war as well!"

Sighing silently in his heart, Optimus Prime looked at the starry sky, and the azure light in his eyes dimmed.

Ever since he accepted Frenzy's suggestion and began to rebuild New Iacon in a remote, rarely visited area in Africa, and started to develop again, Optimus Prime had actually been trying his best to avoid further major friction with the Decepticon Legion.

The Autobots had always known that the Decepticon Legion still had many strongholds within Africa, used for secretly mining Earth's mineral resources.

However, apart from the beginning, when Optimus Prime ordered the Autobots to eliminate and expel some Decepticons in the area near New Iacon.

Afterwards, the Autobots did not excessively hunt down or expel the remaining Decepticons within Africa.

Optimus Prime was trying to find a way to coexist peacefully with the Decepticons and humans on Earth.

Although the contact with humans failed, his time with Frenzy made him realize that it was possible for the Cybertronians to return to unity.

It just required more patience and time!

Feeling climbing coming from the direction of his head, Optimus Prime originally did not intend to pay attention, but not long after, the animal actually climbed nimbly onto his forehead along the protrusions on his head.

Optimus Prime subconsciously reached out to grab it, but he didn't catch it.

However, this violent movement actually startled the animals and insects that had originally mistaken him for a large rock, and they hurriedly fled from his body and the surroundings.

"What is it? It turns out to be a Cheetah!"

There were also a small number of cheetah subspecies distributed in the forests here in West Africa; these spirits of nature were not only alert but also very nimble.

In just the blink of an eye, it had already disappeared into the forest, which made a smile involuntarily appear on Optimus Prime's face.

He liked the harmonious ecology and nature of Earth, liked the vegetation, liked the flowers and plants, and liked the wide variety of animals even more.

"I hope our arrival will not bring disaster to you as well!"

Just as he was feeling emotional, Optimus Prime's brow suddenly furrowed. He looked up at the sky and saw an aircraft, like a bird, flying over the forest from thousands of meters high in the sky.

He had just captured a strong probing electromagnetic wave, which, unsurprisingly, should have come from that aircraft.

The altitude of several thousand meters did not affect Optimus Prime's ability to see it clearly at all.

When he saw the shape of the aircraft clearly, he was slightly stunned, "Humans... no, that's not right... it's Frenzy's..."

Optimus Prime had once led the Autobots to cooperate with the Americans, and in the process, they had detected a lot of military intelligence regarding the U. S. military, including some of their secret military equipment and technology.

In his view, the U. S. military should not yet have the technology and capability to manufacture such small and effective low-to-medium altitude Unmanned Reconnaissance Aircraft.

Moreover, the electromagnetic waves emitted by the Unmanned Reconnaissance Aircraft above Optimus Prime's head actually caused him to trigger a warning; it was clearly a reconnaissance aircraft deployed against Decepticons and Autobots.

"It should be Frenzy's drone... is he trying to find me?"

As the former Autobot Leader, Optimus Prime was not surprised that Frenzy might be looking for him.

He understood his teacher's resentment toward the Decepticons very well, although he did not know why he would agree to cooperate with the Decepticon Legion, or even go so far as to betray the Autobots.

But Sentinel Prime's hatred for the Decepticons would not disappear because of this; after taking power, he would definitely choose to expand externally and rebuild the Autobot hegemony on Earth.

And it was not just the Decepticon Legion that was mining and establishing strongholds within Africa.

The exploration team that Optimus Prime had sent out a long time ago had discovered a mine established by the Decepticons under Frenzy at a uranium mine in Central Africa.

Because of the tacit understanding of cooperation at the time, he suppressed the demands of some radical Autobots under his command to drive them away.

Now, with his self-imposed exile, Sentinel Prime had, after all, begun drastic reforms after taking power, overturning his own relatively moderate propositions.

Having been away from the center of power of the Autobots for over a hundred years, although Sentinel Prime still had many followers within the Autobots, there were also many who were dissatisfied with his iron-fisted rule and regarded him as the culprit for the Autobots' defeat.

In order to re-establish his authority and influence within the Autobots, Sentinel Prime needed more achievements.

And for the current Autobots, there was no better achievement than continuously expanding on Earth, occupying the entire Earth, and establishing the rule of the Autobots here.

Therefore, New Iacon should have already started to expand externally, and once they started acting, the first to be impacted would inevitably be the Decepticon Legion and Frenzy.

It was no surprise that he would try to find him!

In Optimus Prime's mind, countless calculations were performed in an instant.

Just as he was about to think about whether to leave and not make contact with Frenzy.

In a part of the forest, a burst of noisy sounds rang out again.

Before Optimus Prime could make a defensive posture, a familiar voice rang out in the dark forest.

"Damn it, I hate this place full of trees... Frenzy told us that we could find the Leader here. Is he really here?"
