Chapter 919: Waiting for War (Second Update)
On the dark side of the Moon, inside a fortress fashioned from a crater.
Starscream looked up at the Steel Dome overhead, a look of impatience appearing on his face.
This fortress was built relying on a crater, covering an area of over 600,000 square meters.
The floor of the fortress was paved with alloy plates, the roof was constructed using special tempered glass, and inside stood over a hundred metal pillars ranging from ten-odd meters to thirty or forty meters in height.
To call it a fortress is, in fact, not quite accurate.
Inside this steel fortress, there was not much equipment or construction at this time.
A space of some five or six thousand square meters had been specially reserved in the center, and there, a giant metal gate nearly thirty meters high stood prominently.
On the giant metal gate, various complex patterns were engraved, and under the calibration of some Decepticon Workers, it flashed with azure light from time to time.
Starscream looked at the artwork before him greedily, clicking his tongue in wonder: "That Majesty Sentinel Prime still has good things in his hands; this kind of cross-planetary portal technology truly makes even me envious!"
"What a pity!"
He reluctantly shifted his gaze away from the giant metal gate, fearing that if he looked for a moment longer, he would be unable to resist dismantling it to study it first.
Space Bridge technology, during the era of the Council of Ancients, also belonged to the highest technological masterpiece of Cybertronian civilization; it was the blackest of black technology.
Because it involved too many fields such as spatial dimensions, atoms, and the universe, even though the Cybertronian civilization of the Council of Ancients possessed tens of thousands of top-tier scientists, the number of scientists who could learn and master this technology was extremely small.
The brutal civil war that lasted for millions of years caused countless Cybertronian scientists to fall.
As they died in the assassinations between the two warring sides, up to now, the only Cybertronians Starscream knew who mastered Space Bridge technology, besides Jetfire who had been missing for many years and was said to be hanging out with Frenzy now, were only Sentinel Prime.
As for Frenzy, although Swindle had once passed information to Starscream that the other party also mastered Space Bridge technology.
Starscream was skeptical of that information.
The reason was none other than this: this black technology was too profound and too difficult; even he himself found it incomparably difficult to try to learn it.
Judging others by himself, Starscream did not believe Frenzy could master it.
Heavy footsteps rang out inside the steel fortress.
Starscream didn't need to turn around to guess who the visitor was.
If one were to speak of the Decepticon who was most hostile to him in the Moon Base now, besides Megatron, it would probably only be Blitzwing.
And the owner of the footsteps was precisely Blitzwing.
"Starscream, has the portal sent by Sentinel Prime's people finished calibration?"
Before the person had even approached, Blitzwing's condescending, demanding voice had already reached Starscream's ears.
A trace of sarcasm was undisguised on his face; if it were Shockwave, Starscream might still have some misgivings.
But the other party was just a subordinate of Shockwave, or to put it bluntly, a vicious dog he kept.
Even though Blitzwing and Astrotrain were known as the most powerful Triple Changers, Starscream was still completely unafraid.
Glancing at Blitzwing, he replied in a shrill voice: "Has our beloved Majesty Megatron already grown impatient?"
Blitzwing saw the sarcasm on his face clearly, and his heart burned with anger.
"I am asking you a question; have you and this bunch of lowly vermin not finished calibrating yet?"
Being insulted as being as lowly as Decepticon Workers, Starscream showed no sign of anger on his face; instead, he was all smiles, "Without your wise guidance, the efficiency of these lowly vermin is naturally much lower!"
This was using Blitzwing's own words to block him right back.
Starscream was equally full of hostility toward Blitzwing; back then, he had invited him and Astrotrain, along with a group of Decepticons, to rebel against Megatron's rule.
Later, Astrotrain betrayed them first and was entrusted with important tasks after being recruited by Shockwave.
Blitzwing, while assuring him he would not betray him, privately took the initiative to contact Shockwave and eventually betrayed Starscream as well.
One must know that during that mutiny, Starscream had almost captured the Decepticon capital—Kalong Cheng.
In his view, it was the betrayal of Astrotrain and Blitzwing that caused the massive mutiny to fail.
Because of this, Starscream, Blitzwing, and Astrotrain had a grudge against each other afterward; the relationship between the three appeared normal on the surface, but privately, they wished for each other to die.
A flash of ferocity appeared on Blitzwing's face; ever since he led the advance team to the Solar System, he was immediately appointed by Megatron as the supreme Commander here at the Moon Base.
Originally, Blitzwing was initially quite happy that he could suppress Starscream, one of the veteran giants of the Decepticon Legion.
But soon he discovered that he was restricted everywhere at the Moon Base; many orders were issued, but except for the advance team that came with him, no one paid him any mind.
Blitzwing was no fool; how could he not understand that this was Starscream's doing.
If it were another Decepticon, they would probably have yielded, and with Megatron's order, they would have turned a blind eye and just been a nominal supreme Commander.
But who was Blitzwing? He was the top general under the Decepticon Legion's military commander—Shockwave, and the Commander of the Luku Budui.
He and Starscream were already mortal enemies, so over the past few months, they had truly fought incessantly for a bit of power.
Invisible electric sparks kept bursting between the two enemies.
Blitzwing wanted to get back at him, but he had also deeply learned in these few months how difficult Starscream was to deal with.
Compared to Shockwave, although this guy was much worse in combat power, the bellyful of malice and methods he possessed were not something Shockwave could compare to.
After a stalemate for a while, he could only take advantage of a Worker accidentally getting close to him, snort coldly, and suddenly lift his leg to kick him, sending him flying far away.
"Boom!"
Under Blitzwing's angry kick, the Worker's chassis burst apart in mid-air, and only its head flew dozens of meters away, hitting a metal pillar and making a heavy, muffled sound.
Starscream was not angry either; for him, who was skilled at cultivating Decepticons, he had as many of these lowly Workers as he wanted under his command.
Even various Replica Warrior Legions were just cheap Cannon Fodder in his eyes, let alone a mere Worker.
However, mockery was inevitable.
"Majesty Megatron sent you over, surely not just to have you slaughter a few lowly vermin, right?"
Blitzwing had fire in his heart, yet he couldn't vent it because Starscream had blocked him, so he snorted coldly, "His Majesty told me to ask you how much longer the portal will take to finish calibration. And your Replica Warrior Legion, how many have been cultivated now? After all, there are not many days left until the time we agreed upon with Sentinel Prime."
Starscream smiled slightly and looked up at the Steel Dome once again.
"Soon!"
He replied vaguely.
The Decepticons were also waiting for war.
