Chapter 923: Complete Estrangement
When, over in South America, the Decepticon Legion's replicated warriors began large-scale attacks on South America, and a civil war between Decepticons seemed about to unfold.
In New Iacon, Sentinel Prime looked at the intelligence gathered by his subordinates, his face bearing only a cold sneer.
"Megatron is forcing me to act as soon as possible!"
It would be more appropriate to call him an emperor than a Leader.
Sentinel Prime had experienced too much, from vying for power with a crowd of noble elders during the Council of Ancients era, to the life-and-death struggles against Megatron and other Decepticons during the civil war.
His rich experience allowed him to see through, at a glance, the hidden motives behind the Decepticon Legion's replicated warriors and the rebellious Decepticon named Frenzy who was attacking South America.
Yet, knowing was one thing, but Sentinel Prime had no intention of paying it any mind.
Perhaps his naive student—Optimus Prime—would think that there was a distinction between good and bad Decepticons.
But in Sentinel Prime's eyes, all Decepticons were the same: greedy, violent, and corrupt; they deserved to be turned into nutrients to nourish the home planet.
Therefore, letting them fight until they killed each other and perished together was their best ending.
Unfortunately...
A heavy sound of footsteps echoed in the former conference room, which had already been converted into Sentinel Prime's bedchamber.
Without needing to look up, he already knew who had arrived.
"Prowl, have you found my naive student?"
The person who arrived was Prowl... or to be precise, Prowl, who had been awakened once again by Sentinel Prime.
After Bumblebee chose to follow Optimus Prime and leave, Sentinel Prime needed a trusted aide to rebuild the Autobot intelligence system for him.
And as an ambitious overlord, he naturally held in his hands the core memory data of his former confidant, his Intelligence Chief—Prowl.
Using this data, with the help of the great Autobot Scientist Wheeljack, Sentinel Prime utilized the energy from the 【Matrix of Leadership】 he had obtained from Optimus Prime and stored away, awakening this former Intelligence Chief once again shortly after they had left.
Renaming him with the original 'Prowl' naturally held an extraordinary meaning.
Clearly, Sentinel Prime hoped that this former Intelligence Chief of his could once again become the most loyal and sharpest blade in his hand, just as in the past.
Kneeling on one knee on the ground, Prowl lowered his head and reported to him in an indifferent tone.
"Your Majesty, my intelligence squad tracked Sideswipe, Drift, and the others all the way to the forest region of West Africa... If nothing goes wrong, Optimus Prime and his followers should be hiding there!"
Hearing the name of Optimus Prime, a flash of annoyance crossed Sentinel Prime's eyes.
He was not without a shred of guilt toward this student of his, but there was more anger at his failure to live up to expectations.
As the great King of Primus, Sentinel Prime was born noble; therefore, even though he had chosen to woo the Autobots in every possible way in the past to counter the traitorous turncoat Megatron, and had pinched his nose to accept their so-called Republic and theories of equal rights and equality.
Yet, self-proclaimed as noble, he looked down upon the peace-seeking Autobots, and his student Optimus Prime made him even more dissatisfied.
In order to better implement his own plans, Sentinel Prime, after being awakened, immediately launched an investigation into the various forces currently on Earth.
And it was precisely this investigation that made his dissatisfaction and anger toward Optimus Prime completely uncontrollable.
"Even trash and scum like the Decepticon Frenzy can quickly adapt after coming to Earth, rapidly occupy an entire continent, and quickly establish a force and rise... My good student... the Leader of the Autobots... hmph..."
Because of this dissatisfaction, and coupled with the fact that Sentinel Prime had already seen that the situation was unfavorable for the Autobots in the late stages of the civil war, he knew that even if he resisted stubbornly, he could at most only prolong a war whose outcome was already clear for another thousand or so years.
Therefore, abdicating the position of Autobot Leader to his student at that time was not Sentinel Prime's original intention.
The history of being treated as a plaything and humiliated in every way by the Cybertronian Nobles during the Council of Ancients era had long since twisted his personality.
Sentinel Prime had a near-paranoid, pathological desire for power; it was precisely because he was unwilling to share power that he set a trap to force his student, Optimus Prime, to choose self-exile.
Originally, Sentinel Prime had not intended to clean up Optimus Prime so quickly.
In his view, his good student, while not a qualified Leader, was absolutely a dutiful Military Commander.
Once he had completely regained control of the Autobots in the future, Sentinel Prime could consider recalling Optimus Prime and re-appointing him as the Autobot Military Commander.
And the status and relationship between master and student would be just like Megatron and Shockwave of the Decepticon Legion.
But...
Although Sentinel Prime had guessed that Optimus Prime's departure would lead to a batch of Autobots leaving.
After all, although his student's personality seemed somewhat naive to him, he had after all succeeded him and served as the Autobot Leader for over a hundred years, so there would certainly be some Autobots willing to follow him.
It was just that what he never expected was that, following Optimus Prime's departure, nearly a hundred Autobots had secretly left New Iacon one after another over the past month.
One must know that although there were still a steady stream of Autobots flying toward Earth because of the recall order Optimus Prime had previously issued to the universe.
But all the Autobots who had now arrived on Earth and joined New Iacon added up to just over a thousand.
To have nearly one-tenth of the Autobots run away all at once, especially with twenty or thirty Advanced Warriors and Elite Warriors following Optimus Prime, almost wiping out more than half of the high-level combat power and officers here in New Iacon—it would be strange if Sentinel Prime were happy!
He was now not only angry that before he woke up, his incompetent, stupid student—Optimus Prime—had not, like the Decepticon Frenzy, occupied the entire Africa alone to lay a solid foundation for the resurgence of the Autobots.
He was even more angry at the betrayal of himself by Optimus Prime and those Autobots who chose to leave with him.
Throughout history on Earth, all emperors have been conceited and arrogant.
They will never look for faults in themselves, and when mistakes appear, they will be the first to shift the blame onto others.
Sentinel Prime now had the same mentality; it was precisely this twisted psychology that made him increasingly unable to tolerate the betrayal of his young student and the batch of Autobots following him.
Countless evil thoughts flashed through his mind, and the emperor's shrewdness ultimately led him to make a choice.
"Prowl, where have those vermin under Megatron retreated to now?"
Prowl lowered his head, "Your Majesty, according to your agreement with the Decepticon Legion, the Decepticons have all retreated to Southern Europe on the north bank of the Mediterranean Sea, and the South Asia region!"
The cold voice sounded again, "Send someone to notify them that I will launch an all-out war as soon as possible. But as a gesture of sincerity, Optimus Prime shall be dealt with by them!"
Prowl's body, head lowered, trembled, but he quickly pressed his head even lower.
"Yes!"
