Chapter 925: Lightning Strikes
"So that's it. I was wondering why the Decepticon Legion would suddenly send Replica Warriors to attack us; it turns out it was just for show!"
Sun Cheng, suddenly enlightened, combined this with the new intelligence he had received. Thinking this way, the doubts that had troubled him for several days were all explained.
Previous skirmishes had already let him know that the Triple Changer Blitzwing had arrived in the Solar System.
But even if he had arrived, the person in control of the Decepticon Legion's base on the Moon would still be Starscream.
After all, Sun Cheng knew that Megatron was currently reduced to nothing but a head.
Under Starscream's torment, before Shockwave arrived, even Sun Cheng himself would never let him equip a New Body.
This is politics—the most despicable, dirty politics.
And without Megatron's suppression, the advance team that arrived with the Triple Changer Blitzwing definitely could not defeat Starscream.
Therefore, the vast majority of Decepticons currently in the Solar System were under Starscream's direct leadership.
Given Starscream's personality, if he really wanted to make a move against him, it would inevitably be a thunderous, decisive strike.
Sun Cheng could even help Starscream plan the means of invading Earth: dispatching a batch of no fewer than two thousand Decepticon Replica Warriors in advance to sneak into Earth and lie in wait in the areas surrounding South America.
When the invasion began, these Decepticons, acting as the first column, would strike from all sides, sparing no cost, landing with full force, and beginning to destroy, attracting as much of Sun Cheng and his forces' attention as possible.
And at this time, the main force of the Replica Legion, totaling over five thousand, would begin launching from the Moon to air-raid South America.
If Sun Cheng were the Commander, he would send at least over two hundred Advanced Warriors and one to two groups of Constructicons to attack.
When that time came, all that would await him would be the devastating destruction of Base No. 2.
In the most ideal scenario, Sun Cheng and his forces would also pay the painful price of nearly exhausting their foundation on Earth, with South America being battered into a riddled mess, to achieve a pyrrhic victory.
"So, an attack of this scale is actually just a play the Decepticon Legion is putting on for Sentinel Prime. The purpose should be to urge Sentinel Prime to launch some kind of action as soon as possible... And now, the Decepticons suddenly attacking the West Africa region means that both sides have already reached some kind of consensus. Is the war about to begin..."
With this realization in his heart, Sun Cheng no longer had the mind to continue holding any summary or review meetings.
After simply urging Thunder and the others to come up with solutions as soon as possible for the problems they had already discovered.
His thoughts had already shifted to Africa, or more accurately, to West Africa.
And at this moment, West Africa was already in complete chaos.
Inside a newly established temporary stronghold within the forests of West Africa.
Because Optimus Prime still held a grudge, Ironhide and the others, who had originally planned to go to South Africa to take over a medium-sized mine with relatively complete facilities that Frenzy was prepared to hand over to them, and then use it as a foundation to rebuild a new base, could only stay here with him.
On this day, Ironhide had just finished patrolling and returned, having incidentally cleared out and driven away some annoying animals; he was just about to try and persuade Optimus Prime again.
As a result, suddenly, it was as if every living creature in the forest had been startled; countless birds flew into the sky, fleeing toward the distance as if their lives depended on it.
Ironhide was stunned for only a moment before he realized the problem.
He subconsciously activated his area scan, and then the alarming siren stimulated him to immediately look up at the sky.
In an instant, Ironhide shouted sharply: "Sky, enemy attack!"
Above the sky, dense 'fireballs' dragging long tails were smashing down toward the West Africa forest below at a very astonishing speed.
Ironhide's roar startled quite a few people.
Many Autobots who were busy working looked up at the sky one after another, and in an instant, everyone's expressions changed drastically.
"Prepare for battle!"
Optimus Prime also noticed the change in the sky at the first moment; he reached back and grabbed, and instantly a Heavy Sword appeared in his hand.
Looking up at the massive amount of meteors about to fall from the sky, his expression was exceptionally ugly.
"Teacher, you have truly betrayed the Autobots and our faith..."
With his intelligence, it only took a little thought for him to guess that these incoming 'meteors' were inevitably Decepticons.
And just a short while ago, Optimus Prime's teacher, Sentinel Prime, had just launched an operation to expel the Decepticons.
Frenzy had only just contacted him not long ago, and had even handed over all the mines within Africa to him; it was absolutely impossible for him to launch an attack on him.
Then the attackers must be the Decepticon Legion, but they had just tacitly cooperated with Sentinel Prime's expulsion operation not long ago and left African territory.
Now that he was suddenly attacked, the result was self-evident.
Optimus Prime had, after all, led the Autobots for over a hundred years; as a Leader, he possessed extraordinary wisdom and political sensitivity.
So in an instant, he understood that it must be that teacher of his who had reached some kind of deal with the Decepticon Legion.
And he himself was the content of that deal.
"Ah!"
The stifled feeling in his heart and the anger at being betrayed by his teacher made the usually calm Optimus Prime unable to help but let out an angry roar toward the sky.
"Boom!"
A huge 'meteor' fell rapidly not far from him; the explosion not only blew away a layer of soil full of humus and knocked down over a dozen large trees, but also splashed the flames generated by friction with the atmosphere into the surrounding forest.
The high temperature of the flames, even though this South African forest was damp all year round, quickly ignited a patch of trees, and thick smoke instantly shot into the sky amidst the fire.
"Optimus Prime!"
The 'meteor' quickly completed its transformation in the crater, and then a ferocious Decepticon quickly crawled out of the crater, grinning as he charged toward Optimus Prime.
And he was none other than the Decepticon Legion's land and air Commander, the Triple Changer—Blitzwing.
The scimitar in Blitzwing's hand immediately slashed toward Optimus Prime; looking at that infamous scimitar, Optimus Prime frowned and dodged.
But Blitzwing was relentless; the Rotating Ray Gun held in his right hand continuously fired bursts of violent electromagnetic waves at him, while the scimitar gripped in his left hand slashed at him once again.
In order to avoid his Rotating Ray Gun, Optimus Prime could only choose to go head-to-head with him.
And this was undoubtedly exactly what Blitzwing wanted; he grinned and tightened his grip on the scimitar, slashing toward Optimus Prime's chest, which Optimus Prime easily blocked by raising his Heavy Sword.
And at this very moment, Blitzwing grinned and spat out a few words: "Go to hell!"
Then, the sharp scimitar, made of some unknown alloy, suddenly erupted with violent azure electric arcs.
And those electric arcs seemed to have a consciousness of their own; miraculously, they did not harm their master, but instead traveled along the Heavy Sword in Optimus Prime's hand and were transmitted onto his body.
In an instant, the violent azure electric arcs began to dance wildly across Optimus Prime's arms and chest.
