Chapter 942: The Second Engagement
Above the Red Sea, following an order, the two U. S. aircraft carrier strike groups that had begun gathering in the Middle East half a month ago finally took action.
Six Arleigh Burke-class destroyers and two Ticonderoga-class cruisers began to reveal their poison.
One Tomahawk Cruise Missile after another rose from the fleet, rapidly striking toward the city of Cairo.
On two Nimitz-class aircraft carriers, two Wasp-class amphibious assault ships, and two Tarawa-class amphibious assault ships, ground crews were making final preparations.
On the decks, fighter jets were already poised for action.
They were just waiting for the two waves of missile strikes to finish, then they would rapidly take off and, in coordination with their own eight warships, launch a massive bombardment against the Cybertronians in Cairo.
The order for takeoff was soon issued from the command ship, and then, one after another, the fighter jets that had been poised for action, fully loaded with ammunition, rapidly took off, about to launch a wave of precision bombing on Cairo.
They had already received an invitation from the Egyptian authorities, so the U. S. military, which was already accustomed to acting unscrupulously, would not care at all whether their actions caused more casualties in Cairo.
At the same time, at a U. S. military base within Saudi Arabia.
Six B-52 Strategic Bombers that had been urgently dispatched also began to take off and fly toward Egypt after replenishing their ammunition.
The U. S. military was not like the European Allied Fleet; perhaps their total number of warships was not as high.
But as the most powerful military nation on Earth, the U. S. military's warships, in every aspect, were at least half a generation ahead of the warships of various European countries, and in some aspects, they were even a full two generations ahead.
Therefore, even though their numbers were fewer, the damage they caused was even greater than that of the Allied Fleet.
After all, many of the capital ships of countries in Europe were frigates of the three-to-four-thousand-ton class, and the missiles equipped on the ships were also primarily short-range anti-ship and anti-aircraft missiles; very few possessed the capability to strike targets hundreds of kilometers away.
When the whistling missiles struck again, because they had easily dodged them before, many of the re-created warriors, whose madness outweighed their reason, were clearly careless this time.
Although the vast majority of the re-created warriors still made evasive maneuvers when the missiles arrived.
But the power and precision of the U. S. missiles were clearly still superior to those of the European Allied Fleet.
Amidst the whistling sound, the missiles drew closer and closer, and soon they slammed into Cairo.
In an instant, across the streets and alleys, hundreds of missiles exploded one after another.
Sentinel Prime raised his shield, fiercely blocking a missile that was heading toward the skyscraper where he was located.
The shockwave from the missile's explosion made his body retreat a few steps.
He looked coldly in the direction from which the missile had flown, "Useless Decepticons!"
With a cold snort, he reached out a hand and pressed it against his ear.
In an instant, Sentinel Prime entered a communication channel that had been specially set up: "How much longer until the positioning and transmission devices are all fully awakened?"
Before long, messages from all directions appeared in the channel.
"I have awakened 7!"
"9..."
"14..."
"Your Majesty, we have already awakened 71!"
After receiving these messages, a slight smile finally appeared on Sentinel Prime's face again.
"Speed it up, there is not much time left for us!"
Just after giving the order, suddenly, Sentinel Prime caught a cold gaze landing on him.
He looked in the direction of that gaze, and the slight smile that had just appeared immediately turned into a sneer.
On the street hundreds of meters away, a majestic red and blue mechanical warrior was standing there, looking up at him.
"My student, you have finally come!"
Sentinel Prime said softly, then suddenly leaped, the long blade in his hand plunging directly into the wall of the skyscraper, friction sparks flying all the way, and in just a moment, he had fallen to the ground.
"Teacher..."
Optimus Prime looked calmly at this teacher before him who was both familiar and strange; not long ago, he had struck at him without hesitation, which had made him completely disappointed in this former mentor.
But he, who advocated for peace, still wanted to make one last attempt.
"You once praised me, saying that rebuilding New Iacon made you see the future!"
Sentinel Prime was not in a hurry to fight him again; he also looked at Optimus Prime calmly, very confident in his own strength.
"No, Optimus Prime. That was only a corner of the future. Do you see this city? Humans use precious resources to build these useless structures. They cannot even walk out of the planet that birthed them, yet they arrogantly call us 'machines'!"
Optimus Prime watched him, unwilling to back down in the slightest, "But this is their home planet, and we are merely outsiders. We need to take the initiative to show our goodwill to the Earthlings in order to exchange for more living space, or even a new home!"
"Then why not just seize it? Does Earth civilization not also believe in the philosophy of 'survival of the fittest'? We are more powerful than them; rather than letting them continue to waste and ruin Earth, why can we, the superior ones, not come and take over all of this?"
"Teacher, you have already embarked on a wrong path. If we also go around stealing and seizing, how are we any different from the Decepticons?"
Sentinel Prime looked at this young student before him, his heart already completely disappointed in him.
"This is where you disappoint me the most, Optimus Prime. You would be a qualified commander, and you possess all the potential to become a powerful warrior. But you will never be a qualified Leader. Why not stand from the perspective of the entire Autobot race and think for the whole group?"
"I heard that little fellow who betrayed the Decepticon Legion... hmm, you seem to call him Frenzy... Frenzy once suggested to you that Africa was the Autobots' sphere of influence, right... Even such a little fellow could take the opportunity to occupy a continent on Earth and re-establish a new force... Why must you trap yourself and the Autobots in New Iacon!"
His ears twitched, and a sneer appeared on Sentinel Prime's face again.
He suddenly turned and threw the long blade in his hand toward a certain spot; accompanied by a scream, Jolt's body was split directly in half by that blade.
"So many years, and not a bit of progress!"
After a mocking remark, Sentinel Prime then pulled out the Cosmic Rust Gun.
Optimus Prime's face turned stern; he had personally experienced the power of this weapon, and immediately he summoned his shield while also aiming his Energy Cannon at his teacher.
"You all fall back and go deal with those Decepticons in the city!"
After stopping Sentinel Prime, who was attempting to shoot at Jolt, with a cannon blast, Optimus Prime ordered loudly.
Just now, a few Autobots had tried to help him and work together to deal with this Prime.
But his teacher's combat experience was simply too rich.
Jolt had only been careless for a moment, stepping on a small stone, and the disturbance it caused was immediately caught by him.
