Chapter 955: Free Rein
On the Moon, inside the Decepticon Base.
Within the Incubation Room where only the head of Megatron remained, Starscream stood humbly before a light screen.
On the light screen, events occurring on Earth were currently being broadcast.
Megatron's gaze was fixed intently on the scenes unfolding in the city of Cairo.
When he saw Optimus Prime pierce a chest with a sword, killing Sentinel Prime, the face that had been gloomy for over a year since losing his body finally revealed a smile.
"Sentinel Prime is dead?"
"Yes, Your Majesty. Everything is just as you predicted..."
"Sentinel Prime is dead... Hahahaha... The old thing is finally dead... Hahahaha... And he died at the hands of his own student..."
A wild, unmasked, and excited laugh continuously emanated from the head of Megatron, the only part left, inside the incubation tank.
Starscream lowered his head slightly, his pair of scarlet eyes flickering constantly.
As someone who desperately wanted to topple Megatron and take command of the Decepticon Legion, and as Megatron's enemy, Starscream understood him very well.
If one were to draw up a blacklist of Megatron's enemies, the one at the top would undoubtedly be the Quintessons; the Quintessons' plan to modify Cybertronians meant that from the moment Megatron was born until he reached adulthood, his experiences were spent in various inhumane modifications and cold-blooded experiments.
Therefore, Megatron's hatred for the Quintessons and even that civilization far exceeded that of other Cybertronians.
And following the Quintessons, the two individuals Megatron hated most were undoubtedly his teacher, The Fallen, and Sentinel Prime.
Megatron's birth was not an accident, but a deliberate result.
He was a creation of The Fallen; this powerful Prime, one of the Thirteen, had single-handedly orchestrated and sat by to watch Megatron's tragic childhood.
So even though The Fallen later truly taught Megatron many combat skills, bestowed upon him great power, and gave him the possibility to defend his dignity.
Yet, as another mastermind who toyed with Megatron's fate, it was no surprise that he was loathed and hated by his own student.
As for Sentinel Prime, that went without saying.
Because of his tragic past experiences, what Megatron could least tolerate were guys who tried to manipulate his fate.
And unfortunately, Sentinel Prime was one of them.
Although he had selected Megatron from among many slaves and pushed him bit by bit to the position of military commander of Cybertron.
Yet in this process, Megatron himself had also paid huge sacrifices and efforts.
And these, Sentinel Prime had not taken into account in the slightest.
To that Prime who was single-mindedly trying to seize power from the Old Cybertronian Aristocracy and the Council of Ancients, he, Megatron, was merely, and could only be, a chess piece that could be discarded at any time.
Proud as Megatron was, he was already unusually sensitive due to his past experiences.
So from the very beginning, Sentinel Prime's actions destined him to only be Megatron's enemy, with no other possible outcome.
With red light constantly flickering in his eyes, Starscream stared at the portals appearing in the skies over Earth and Africa on the light screen in front of him.
"Your Majesty, did you guess from the start that Sentinel Prime had another conspiracy behind his initiative to cooperate with you?"
Noticing that Megatron's mood seemed quite good, Starscream seized the opportunity and asked.
Megatron snorted coldly, "We have fought for millions of years; who doesn't understand the other's personality! During the war, he suddenly took the initiative to contact me, so no matter how pleasant his words were, I could guess that he was inevitably plotting something behind my back."
A trace of nostalgia couldn't help but surface in his eyes; counting the time, it had already been over a thousand years since he and Sentinel Prime reached their secret agreement.
Megatron still clearly remembered that it was over a thousand years ago, during the stalemate phase of a battle at the end of the Second Cybertronian Civil War.
At that time, he was personally overseeing the front lines, commanding the main force of the Decepticon Legion to besiege the Autobot military fortress—Uraya.
Uraya was an ancient city located in the Stan region of Cybertron, first established during the Quintesson colonial era.
Because it was built on the Manganese-Iron Mountain Range, which was rich in metal deposits, this ancient city had been reinforced with a large amount of sturdy alloy since its inception, earning it the reputation of the 'Unbreakable City' and the 'Never-Falling Fortress.'
It was precisely by relying on this strategic pass that the Autobots, who were already completely at a disadvantage at the time, firmly resisted the fierce offensive of the Decepticon Legion, dragging them into a protracted and brutal war of attrition; countless Decepticon clone Warriors were all ground into debris by this fortress.
Because Uraya could not be taken for a long time, when Sentinel Prime suddenly took the initiative to approach him, wanting to meet him alone and reach some kind of cooperation, Megatron did not believe a single punctuation mark of the other's so-called desire for peace.
But because Sentinel Prime took the initiative to offer Uraya as a gesture of sincerity for the cooperation, Megatron agreed with half-belief.
Shortly thereafter, in a battle to besiege Uraya, a serious loophole unexpectedly appeared in the Autobot defensive formation, which had originally been as solid as a rock.
The commanders of the Decepticon Legion naturally seized this opportunity keenly, and after paying a certain amount of losses, they took down Uraya, the Unbreakable City that had been firmly held by the Autobots, in one fell swoop.
And after losing Uraya, the Autobots also lost control of the mines around the Manganese-Iron Mountain Range, and from then on, they never had the possibility of turning defeat into victory.
Subsequently, Sentinel Prime met with Megatron in secret several more times.
And with each of their secret meetings, the Autobots retreated steadily in the civil war that could have otherwise been a stalemate, and were finally completely driven out of their home planet—Cybertron.
Sentinel Prime, this leader of the Autobots, paid the price of betraying and abandoning the entire Autobot faction, and what he sought was naturally not small.
Megatron had guessed from the beginning that he certainly didn't just want to use this opportunity to exchange for the support of himself and the Decepticon Legion, so as to ascend to the throne of Prime again.
But suspicion was suspicion after all; he was not Sentinel Prime's opponent, let alone a component inside his body, so how could he guess his true thoughts.
So now, when he saw Sentinel Prime personally open a space portal, and what was transmitted to Earth was not the batch of Autobot Warriors loyal to Sentinel Prime that they had agreed upon during their cooperation, but a batch of images that had long been engraved deep in his mind and could never be forgotten.
"Quintessons... Sentinel Prime, for the sake of power, you have actually betrayed even the identity of Prime that you were once most proud of... The King of Cybertronian civilization has colluded with the colonizers who once ravaged Cybertron... That is truly ironic..."
In his heart, the murderous intent surging due to his past experiences began to burn fiercely in Megatron's brain from the first moment he saw those Quintesson soldiers.
"Starscream!"
Megatron suddenly spoke in a cold voice, immediately calling back Starscream, who was wondering what he was thinking about on the side.
"Your Majesty, I am at your command at any time!"
Megatron did not care how much of this sentence was true and how much was false, and continued to order: "Since Sentinel Prime is gone, the agreement is automatically void. Notify the Earth side and let Blitzwing and the others have free rein!"
Starscream's scarlet electronic eyes flickered for a moment, then he lowered his head and answered respectfully: "As you wish, Your Majesty Megatron!"
