Chapter 977: Targets and Thoughts
The fourth teleportation test was a success, yet none of the Decepticons in the Laboratory showed much surprise.
Even Sun Cheng was the same!
After all, it was a project that had already been tested and confirmed successful previously.
"Not bad, but the research progress is still a bit too slow."
Noticing many gazes falling upon him, Sun Cheng knew it was time for him to state his position.
He nodded, looking calmly at the teleportation device in front of him, and said: "The situation we need to face next is even more difficult than you imagine."
"So I hope your research progress can be faster!"
"Let me set a few phased goals for you first!"
Atlas asked hurriedly: "Commander, please speak!"
"The first phase goal: achieve the ability to rapidly teleport over ten thousand tons of supplies within two thousand kilometers!"
This phased Task was not considered difficult; at least, there were no problems in theory.
With the technology they had already mastered, they only needed to continue researching step by step, gradually increasing the teleportation distance and the weight of the items tested, and continuously accumulating more test data and experience; he believed they would master the relevant technology before long.
"We will remember it, Commander!"
"Hmm, for the second phase goal, I hope you can achieve cross-regional teleportation of Normal Mode Decepticon soldiers within a range of ten thousand kilometers, and the teleportation channel must be maintained for at least five minutes!"
This time, some low murmurs appeared in the Laboratory; the technology required to teleport supplies versus teleporting life was vastly different.
Do not be fooled by the fact that Cybertronians are very similar to the robots recognized by Earth civilization, but the robots recognized by Earth civilization are, after all, just machines that follow programmed activities.
Looking at the Cybertronians again, they are true life forms, just a type of silicon-based life distinct from carbon-based life.
Therefore, wanting to teleport Cybertronians through space involves the protection of life.
Consequently, the opening of the space channel, the protection of the life being teleported, and so on, all need to be added to the research.
Unfortunately, Sun Cheng did not happen to find this technology when extracting information regarding Space Bridge technology from Sentinel Prime's Memory Data.
Red light flickered in Atlas's eyes for a moment, but he did not speak.
He also knew the difficulty of mastering this technology, but he was even more aware of their side's desire for it.
Once this technology is mastered, they could open teleportation channels to any corner of Earth or even surrounding planets when war requires it, and dispatch a steady stream of troops.
So in a sense, the importance of this technology to their current faction is comparable to the cultivation work of Newborn Decepticon.
Moreover, Sun Cheng also required the teleportation channel to be maintained for at least five minutes.
This point alone increased the difficulty by more than just a little.
After all, the teleportation devices that Atlas and the others had created now, which used space singularities to create teleportation channels, could only maintain them for a duration measured in seconds.
Increasing the opening time of the teleportation channel by more than a hundredfold all at once—the difficulty can be imagined.
After thinking for a long while, Atlas finally opened his mouth to answer: "I understand, Commander. We will increase research in these areas in the future..."
"Hmm!"
Sun Cheng nodded, but then fell silent.
He was actually hesitating whether to state the third phase goal.
Because even Sun Cheng himself felt that the third phase goal he had set was too difficult right now.
But after thinking for a while, he decided to say it anyway.
High difficulty is not scary; one just has to achieve it bit by bit.
He then continued: "For this third phase, I hope you can achieve the synchronized construction of a fixed teleportation channel between Earth and Mars, realizing accurate teleportation of supplies and personnel within a range of one hundred million kilometers, and each time the teleportation channel must be maintained for at least about 30 minutes."
Once this goal was stated, even Atlas could not help but tremble in his chassis.
This was a massive project!
Not to mention the distance between Earth and Mars, even at the closest point, the distance between the two planets is over fifty million kilometers.
And Mars takes 26 months to orbit the Sun; during this process, for most of the time, the distance between it and Earth is over one hundred million kilometers.
Not to mention how to achieve such a vast distance!
Just the requirement to build a fixed teleportation channel between two planets and ensure it stays open for 30 minutes each time was a level of difficulty that even Atlas dared not imagine for the time being.
"Commander!"
Atlas showed a look of difficulty, "This is no longer something we can do at present. Even if the Academy of Sciences were established now, and we concentrated all our Decepticon Senior Engineer and engineer teams to focus on this project, I fear it would be difficult to achieve in the next few decades!"
Sun Cheng certainly knew it was difficult, but he still needed to comfort and encourage them.
"Do not be discouraged; this is just a phased goal. Moreover, we are not without more assistance. The Jetfire Awakening Project has already begun, and once Jetfire awakens, with his addition, the progress of this project will be greatly accelerated!"
This was also an important reason why Sun Cheng suddenly wanted to initiate the Awakening of Jetfire now.
Among his subordinates, only a few Decepticon Senior Engineer could barely be called Scientist.
These Decepticon engineers have not yet created much groundbreaking technology; they are mainly focused on absorbing the Cybertron Technology that Sun Cheng has been acquiring everywhere, along with Earth's technology, and making certain improvements.
Because the accumulation is insufficient and they have not yet formed their own technological system.
Right now, their development is scattered and unfocused; not only is their strength not being used in one direction, but they also cannot bring their side's full technological advantages into play.
"The establishment of the Academy of Sciences is already imminent. Perhaps I should take this opportunity to think carefully; why not take this chance to build the entire framework for our faction's industry, administration, military, and scientific research?"
This thought emerged in his mind for no reason, and as Sun Cheng thought about it deeply, he could not help but feel his heart race.
The social structure of Cybertronians is much simpler than that of Earthlings; since the civil war, whether it be Autobot or Decepticon, what they have established is a social structure that serves the war.
Their already simple society, after removing a series of departments like education and civil administration, leaves nothing more than the four main parts: industry, administration, military, and scientific research, plus a logistics department that exists intermittently.
And now, Sun Cheng also felt the chaotic management within his own side; he suddenly had an idea that it was time to carry out a series of reorganizations within his faction.
