Chapter 979: Cemetery Wind's First Operation

~7 min read 1,242 words

Led by Major Huo Si, the group of people soon entered the inconspicuous wooden residence nearby.

This was a type of residence very common in the western United States, covering an area of about one hundred square meters, with outer walls made of wooden planks, and a low wooden fence and barbed wire surrounding a space of over four thousand square meters.

The CIA had disguised it to look almost exactly like a normal residence, but as soon as the group entered the house, they quickly discovered something unusual.

Two fully armed sentries with live ammunition stood guard inside the residence.

Major Huo Si led the group to the wooden staircase, where he went straight to a wooden door on the wall beneath the stairs and opened it.

"Please!"

He walked in first, passing through a winding staircase leading downward; because the lights were on in the passageway, no one felt it was dim.

Following the stairs, the group soon arrived at the bottom, in a basement that was not spacious, measuring only about a dozen square meters.

Major Huo Si walked straight to the wall on one side of the basement, skillfully fumbled to lift a cover on it, and revealed an operating interface within the wall.

He took a card from his person, inserted it into the slot above, and after entering a password, an iris scanning interface soon appeared.

Major Huo Si leaned in closer, letting the iris scanning interface scan his eyes.

The next moment, the wall in front of him suddenly emitted a humming sound.

Then, that section of the wall began to retract to both sides, revealing an elevator behind it large enough for a dozen people to enter and exit at once.

"Sir, please!"

After the group entered the elevator, Major Huo Si entered the characters "-22" on it.

Following a rapid descent that felt like losing gravity, when the elevator doors opened again, they had already arrived at a secret base located deep underground in Kang Ge Er Xiao Zhen.

After the elevator doors opened, the first things they saw were several sentries who were also standing guard with live ammunition.

When they noticed that the person arriving was Major Huo Si, the muzzles of their guns, which had been slightly raised, lowered once more.

The sentries saluted, and Major Huo Si simply nodded.

He led the men in suits into a conference room, and by the time they arrived, four or five officers dressed in the same black special operations uniforms as Major Huo Si were already seated inside.

As the men in suits entered the conference room, everyone stood up and saluted the men in suits in unison, while Major Huo Si spoke.

"Sir, all commanders of the Tombwind Squad have arrived. Please convey the instructions from Washington!"

A man in a suit nodded. He took out a credential representing his CIA identity from his pocket, hung it on his chest, and turned to tilt his head at a man in a suit who had come with him. The other party immediately understood and took some documents from the briefcase he was carrying, distributing them to the several Tombwind Squad commanders in the conference room.

At the same time, another person took a flash drive out of the briefcase and inserted it into the projector in the conference room.

"Let me introduce myself briefly. I am Xiu Si Feng Ma Ka Mu Si, the person in charge of covert operations for the CIA's Directorate of Operations."

"Gentlemen, I believe you have all heard about the hostile international environment the United States has been facing lately."

"In the Cairo Battle not long ago, the U. S. Navy and Air Force concentrated their main forces, in coordination with our allies in Europe, attempting to launch a destructive strike against the aliens that appeared in Cairo, Egypt."

"But the result was regrettable; the Navy repeated the rout on the Red Sea from over a year ago."

The conference room was silent, and no significant changes in expression could be seen on the faces of the several Tombwind Squad commanders.

They were not professional soldiers, but war mercenaries cultivated by the CIA, so their loyalty to the country was far less than that of ordinary U. S. soldiers.

"Sir, what do you need us to do?" Major Huo Si noticed the awkward silence and took the initiative to ask.

Xiu Si turned to look at the projector behind him, where images of some Autobots, Decepticons, and Quintessa soldiers, as well as images of destruction in some African towns, had begun to appear.

"The Tombwind Squad is an organization we at the CIA fought to secure from the military. It has been nearly a year since you were sent here and received training."

"Although we also believe that a powerful special operations team needs sufficient training to grow."

"But gentlemen, time waits for no one. Headquarters is now in urgent need of a victory to convince Washington to continue providing us with more funding and support."

Major Huo Si and the others looked at each other, understanding in their hearts.

"Sir, does this mean we need to begin expulsion operations or destruction operations against the aliens?"

Since the establishment of the Tombwind Squad, they had been training in these types of combat methods.

Every member among them was a war mercenary under the CIA, and therefore all possessed excellent military literacy and combat skills.

In terms of individual combat capability, compared to the previous Nest, I believe the quality of many Tombwind Squad soldiers is above that of Nest.

The so-called expulsion operation refers to an operation primarily focused on driving away aliens when they are discovered in densely populated cities or important U. S. cities like Washington or New York, in order to minimize urban damage.

Expulsion operations require them to end the battle as quickly as possible and minimize damage to the surroundings, making the operation somewhat restrictive.

Compared to that is the destruction operation; this combat method is just as its name implies: when traces of aliens are discovered, a destructive strike is immediately launched against them.

Destruction operations do not care about one's own casualties and require concentrating forces to carry out destructive strikes against the discovered targets.

When executing this operation, the Tombwind Squad can even receive fire support and coordination from the U. S. military.

Therefore, compared to expulsion operations, the Tombwind Squad is clearly more eager to execute destruction operations.

And the answer from the high-ranking official from CIA headquarters, Xiu Si, also made the several Tombwind Squad commanders very satisfied.

"Headquarters needs a great victory to convince Washington, which is already somewhat dissatisfied with the military, to continue providing us with more funding and support!"

"Yes, sir. We understand!"

As Xiu Si finished his briefing, the entire Tombwind Squad was set into motion.

Strictly speaking, this was not the first operation for Tombwind.

However, previously, after Tombwind annexed the Nest troops, although they also followed instructions to strike Decepticons discovered within the United States a few times.

But because the main force in those operations was actually the U. S. military, with the Air Force and National Guard coordinating, the Tombwind Squad was more like a ground containment squad responsible for the recovery of Decepticon corpses after the battle, and thus was not accepted by the CIA or even Tombwind itself.

This operation, in their view, was the first true mission since their establishment.
