Chapter 188: The Empress Forced to Marry? Xu Chen Arrives to Save the Day!

Xu Chen surveyed his surroundings and noticed that the soldiers around him seemed to have thinned out considerably.

Logically, when he left the tower, the Empress and Bu Fengshuang should have come, but he saw no sign of them now.

His gaze turned to the Left and Right Elders: "Elders, do you know what's happening in Jingcheng?"

The Left and Right Elders murmured: "The Ninth Prince Luo Tianjian left the tower a month ago. He went to Bian Sai, and then was captured by the enemy nation.

The enemy nation sent an envoy, demanding that the Tianzun Dynasty hand over a hundred cities in exchange." Xu Chen froze—he remembered this plot now, the minor skirmish between the two sides before the major Bian Sai arc.

Naturally, Luo Shen would not agree to such a thing.

A full hundred cities—how could she, as Empress, possibly afford such a price?

She had inherited her father's command to lead the Tianzun Dynasty; if she let herself be pushed around like this, the Tianzun Dynasty would have been finished long ago.

The Left Elder continued: "The Empress's face darkened, and in the end she did not agree. Then the enemy nation proposed another condition.

Three matches in one month—if the Tianzun Dynasty wins, they will release Luo Tianjian.

But if they lose, the Empress must marry off to the Crown Prince of the Immortal Empire, Di Zhentian. In the end, the Empress agreed."

"Today is the day of the matches. The Empress transferred a large number of troops to the Yanwuchang, so there are fewer troops here." Xu Chen nodded. With just this kind of match, Luo Shen naturally had nothing to fear.

After all, whether it was the younger generation or the older generation, Luo Shen had trump cards.

He remembered that in his previous life it was Ye Xuan who helped the Empress defeat everyone from the Immortal Empire. In this life, he didn't know how things would go.

So Xu Chen said: "Then there shouldn't be much of a problem."

The Right Elder sighed: "Originally it was indeed no problem, and the Empress wasn't afraid either. But after the people from the Immortal Empire arrived today, the Empress realized she'd been tricked.

Di Zhentian on the other side came in person, and the moment he entered Jingcheng, he released the pressure of Jiupin Chuji." Xu Chen's pupils shrank slightly. That wasn't right—in his previous life, Di Zhentian wasn't Nine-grade, only Eighth Grade Perfection.

Eighth Grade Perfection, Ye Xuan could still handle it, but if it's Nine-grade...

The plot had gone wrong.

But where had it gone wrong?

Xu Chen fell into deep thought.

Soon he suddenly woke up—it's the Wan Gu Sect, the Five Poisons Sect, and the Taichu Sacred Land.

These three factions had not only secretly colluded with Luo Junming behind the scenes, but were also in constant contact with the Immortal Empire.

This time, Di Zhentian must have received massive resource support from the Wan Gu Sect and the Five Poisons Sect.

It was very likely the two million Spirit Stones that Luo Junming had sent out.

He hadn't expected there to be a chain reaction.

Presumably, the Wan Gu Sect and the Five Poisons Sect also wanted the Empress to marry Di Zhentian, so they spared no effort to help Di Zhentian.

After all, if the Empress were gone, the Tianzun Dynasty would inevitably fall into chaos.

And then, wouldn't the Wan Gu Sect and the Five Poisons Sect be able to reap benefits at will?

Having thought this through, Xu Chen suddenly understood: "No wonder Di Zhentian wanted to wait a month before the matches. So that's how it is."

That one month was for Di Zhentian to use for his breakthrough.

But this Di Zhentian didn't have any high-grade Heaven-tier martial arts. Even after breaking through, his aura must be unstable right now.

The Left and Right Elders were baffled: "What do you mean, 'so that's how it is'?"

Xu Chen didn't explain, and asked: "Then why haven't our great experts stepped in?"

The Left Elder shook his head: "They can't step in. It's a match between the younger generation, and the Empress can't step in either." Xu Chen understood—this harsh condition was basically the same as in the original.

This Di Shitian was very good at creating conditions for himself; the Empress had no way around it.

But with Bu Fengshuang around, it shouldn't be a problem. The Right Elder continued: "One is a combat match, one is an alchemy match, and one is an array match.

The two people Di Zhentian brought are both Ninth-Grade Alchemists and Ninth-Grade Array Masters.

But our Tianzun Dynasty seems to have no Ninth-Grade Alchemist, though we do have a Ninth-Grade Array Master." Xu Chen nodded: "I see. Suyun, let's go to the Yanwuchang." Yin Suyun nodded, her face icy: "This Di Zhentian is going too far. Chen, you must not let him off."

Xu Chen smiled: "I'll teach him a lesson." He didn't want to help Luo Tianjian, but the Empress—he had to help her!

After all, the Empress had given him the entire Tianling Juqi Ta to cultivate in. It would be inexcusable not to help.

Having said that, Xu Chen and the other executed Sky-Stepping and headed straight for the Yanwuchang of the Imperial Palace.

At this moment, beside the largest Yanwuchang in Jingcheng.

The Empress sat high upon the throne, with Bu Fengshuang and Yi Bingrou beside her, along with several Nine-grade great experts.

Without exception, they were all white-haired old men, looking just like ordinary elders.

On the seats on the other side sat the people from the Immortal Empire.

Di Zhentian also sat in the middle seat, looking smug and arrogantly overbearing.

Beside him were likewise many Nine-grade Experts, as well as Ninth-Grade Alchemists and Array Masters.
