Chapter 216: Adding Luck to Fu Bao
Qin Lang wanted to go see the spectacle; Qin Tang and Qin Xun would definitely go.
After hesitating, Qin Lang still ran first to the Rong Wang Fu to ask his sister. Qin Lang had figured it out: who had good fortune was uncertain, but his sister definitely did; asking her couldn't be wrong.
Qin Bi hadn't gotten up; she was talking to the little milk bun.
The Rong He Shizi was in the study. Qin Bi first saw the Rong He Shizi. Hearing that Qin Lang was looking for Qin Bi, the Rong He Shizi didn't ask much, stepped back to the bedroom to tell Qin Bi. Qin Bi came to the courtyard while Qin Lang squatted on the ground, eyeing Rong Yang's small vegetable patch.
"Sister!" Qin Lang stood up.
"What did you come for so early?" Qin Bi asked.
"Nothing much," Qin Lang explained. "Today Fu Bao summoned rain. My cousins and I plan to go see the spectacle. I came to ask: if I go, will I be adding luck to Fu Bao?!"
If he could add luck to Fu Bao, Qin Lang wouldn't go.
In the entire Qin Yan Hou Fu, no one disliked Qin He more than Qin Lang and Qin Bi. The two of them clearly disliked Qin He, unlike others who still pretended. The two of them just got annoyed seeing Qin He.
Fu Bao was Qin He's child. Qin Lang thought: You swallowed two children born with auspicious clouds; don't get any benefit from me. Qin Lang worried that without his knowledge, he would be adding to Fu Bao's summoning.
Other families didn't need to worry; it seemed everyone in the Qin Yan Hou Fu had to guard against Qin He and her child.
Qin Bi was surprised and smiled: "You actually thought to come ask me?"
Qin Lang smiled; he just felt asking his sister made him feel at ease: "Sister, what do you mean?"
It sounded like he had come to the right place.
Qin Bi was no longer an immortal body and couldn't give good advice, but she felt it wouldn't be bad. Qin Bi pondered for a moment and said: "Staying far away is fine; go see the spectacle. I also want to know if Fu Bao, this child who swallowed two children born with auspicious clouds, can summon the rain that Great Yan so earnestly longs for."
Pausing, Qin Bi sneered lightly: "As long as she doesn't exhaust her spiritual power during the summoning, fails to summon rain, and then tries to cover it up by saying she cares about the world, that would be ridiculous."
Exhausting spiritual power and then talking about caring for the world—that was just scamming people.
Qin Lang immediately thought of Qin He: "Qin He is still unconscious. Fu Bao is too young to say such things about caring for the world."
Qin Lang was eager to see the spectacle. Before leaving, he asked one more question: "Where is Rong Yang?"
Qin Bi found it amusing: "He went to court."
Though small, he handled important matters. The Rong He Shizi didn't attend court, but Rong Yang went every day. Probably, since childhood, he had gotten used to listening to ministers chatter at court; children are very enthusiastic about attending court.
Qin Lang also smiled and hurriedly ran to the Ministry of Revenue.
After meeting up with Qin Tang and the others, Qin Xun asked him: "What did you go to Qin Bi for?"
"To ask my sister if I can go," Qin Lang waved his hand. "Let's hurry, don't delay. Qin He is unconscious; I want to see if the little one really has high fortune value."
Qin Yan reminded him: "That is your niece."
"She doesn't care about being related to us," Qin Lang quickened his pace.
Qin Yan sighed. The rift between the Second Branch and the Third and Fourth Branches couldn't be mended anytime soon. Actually, the families usually got along well enough, but ever since Qin Bi's marriage was messed up by Qin He, the Third and Fourth Branches and the Second Branch couldn't get along.
Qin Yan felt that Qin He was a bit of a troublemaker.
The Su He Shizi, the Prince Anyuan Hou He Shizi, and others were all at the Ministry of Revenue, having secured spots earlier. Knowing people from the Qin Yan Hou Fu had arrived, they waved and called them over, but Qin Lang, Qin Tang, and Qin Xun didn't go.
Qin Yan: "..."
Qin Lang didn't know what he asked Qin Bi. All the way, he whispered with Qin Tang and Qin Xun. It must be related to Qin He. The First Branch and Qin He opened a shop together; their interests were inseparable.
Therefore, whenever Qin Lang spoke about Qin He, he didn't want his eldest cousin to hear.
When the Su He Shizi's people came to invite them again, Qin Yan went to the front spots.
Go ahead; Qin Lang wasn't going to crowd to the front.
Everywhere, the crowd was discussing.
"Can they summon rain?" After asking, the person looked up at the sky.
Early morning, the sun had just risen, yet it already felt hot. It wasn't raining, and it was summer. All day long the sun blazed; there wasn't a trace of rain in the air. Everyone felt uncertain.
"There isn't a single cloud; it's hard to summon," someone nearby observed the sky and said.
"Why not pick a day with clouds? I summoned once, and only a few raindrops fell."
"The crops can't wait."
The discussion paused for a moment; the land was about to smoke.
Shortly after, someone said: "The First-Rank Little Princess is a child who swallowed two children born with auspicious clouds; her fortune value is high. I heard the rain at the Qin Yan Hou Fu was all due to her fortune. I guess the Emperor let Fu Bao summon rain because of this."
"That's true; a child who swallowed auspicious clouds must have good fortune."
"As long as one heavy rain falls, Great Yan will gradually start raining."
Everyone hoped for rain as the crowd discussed.
Morning dew was heavy, which was good for summoning. The Prime Minister and the Minister of Works made arrangements. After a cup of tea, Fu Bao, assisted by a group of scholars, held the summoning artifact and began the ritual.
Everyone looked up at the sky; there wasn't a single dark cloud.
"Hiss, what's going on? It doesn't look like it's going to rain!"
"Wait a bit longer."
Waiting longer brought no rain. Fu Bao added power to the summoning; the spiritual power she had regained gradually exhausted. The little girl's face turned pale. Just then, someone felt raindrops; they bounced and fell a little.
It rained for a short while under the sun, then stopped.
Fu Bao fainted. A maid carried Fu Bao away. The scholars withdrew the summoning, their faces looking bad. This was the last summoning. Since they couldn't summon rain, they had to prepare a large amount of cultivation resources to invite people from the Immortal Sects.
The Minister of Works took a deep breath: "This little bit of rain isn't enough."
The Prime Minister swept his sleeve and left. This child who swallowed auspicious clouds wasn't that great.
The crowd was disheartened and gradually dispersed.
Qin Lang, Qin Tang, and Qin Xun went directly to the Rong Wang Fu. Qin Bi was in the courtyard, puzzled. The Rong He Shizi was holding his youngest son nearby. Rong Yang was eating a spirit fruit and feeding a little bit to his younger brother.
"How could it rain?" Qin Bi asked the Rong He Shizi.
Rong Juan said: "It doesn't count as rain. This little bit of rain is the same as no rain at all."
Qin Bi was still confused. Qin Lang and his two cousins arrived at the Rong He Shizi's courtyard while talking.
"Did you run to the front?" Qin Bi asked Qin Lang.
"No, neither my two cousins nor I went to the front." Qin Lang lifted a cup of cool tea from the table to drink; the day was too hot. Qin Lang said, "My eldest cousin ran ahead."
"Did Fu Bao benefit from you again? Not a single drop of rain was falling originally." Qin Bi had miscalculated. She turned to Qin Lang and said, "You and your elder brother shouldn't have gone either. It seems insufficient cultivation base just won't do; you can't see through it."
Qin Lang heard this and was stunned: "Benefited from me?"
Qin Bi nodded: "It should be that you benefited from him."
After a brief pause, Qin Bi added: "He benefited far more from my eldest cousin. To put it plainly, benefiting from my eldest cousin means benefiting from the entire Qin Yan Marquis Fu."
