Chapter 456: Spirit Vegetables Have Sprouted
The spirit vegetables were tiny, covering the surface with a layer of seedlings.
Rong Juan glanced sideways and asked Qin Bi, "Did you use the soil and water from Rong Yang's small tea bowl?"
The young prince was right there, so Rong Juan didn't bother hiding it from him. The Great Yan Emperor had already seen soil poured out of Rong Yang's small tea bowl; since the Emperor had seen it, it didn't matter whether the young prince covered it up or not.
Qin Bi's beautiful eyes brightened as she smiled and shook her head, "I didn't use Rong Yang's small tea bowl."
Not using the soil and water from the small tea bowl made this even more impressive. Everyone took turns looking, and even the young prince's planting pot had sprouted a faint layer of seedlings; it wasn't hard to tell they were spirit vegetables.
Rong Juan said, "The snow and rain carrying fortune truly are different."
Qin Bi, Rong Yang, and the young prince were overjoyed, checking one pot after another to compare whose sprouting rate was higher. The little milk bun, held by Rong Juan, kicked and squirmed, trying to grab at the planting pots.
"I did it," Rong Yang said anxiously. "I grew spirit vegetables."
Luo Bi brought over a small pot that a child could hold, placing it into the little milk bun's small hands, "This is yours. It has sprouted too; it's a spirit vegetable. You are very impressive."
The little milk bun happily hugged the small planting pot. Rong Juan touched his small hands; they weren't cold.
"I am very impressive!" The little milk bun, Rong Yang, looked up seeking praise.
Rong Juan's eyebrows and eyes were gentle, "Mm."
Wow, the little milk bun even kicked with his little legs. Qin Bi worried the child might drop the planting pot, but she glanced at Rong He Shizi; Rong Juan didn't reach out to support the pot for the little one.
Qin Bi knew the child wouldn't drop it.
It seemed she had worried for nothing. The little milk bun might have inherited from Rong He Shizi, or perhaps from Qin Xun and Qin Lang; he was very strong. His small fleshy hands could hurt with just one punch.
Rong Yang was also very strong. Anyway, he didn't necessarily take after He Yan. Several members of the Qin Yan Marquis Manor, like Qin Yan, weren't weak in strength either. They looked like gentle young masters, but in reality, their martial power was not low.
"How did they sprout so quickly?" The young prince was surprised and delighted, rushing to leave, "No, I must go to my maternal grandfather's house to see if he has planted his seeds."
In Rong He Shizi's courtyard, the advisors and guards discussed how powerful the summoned snow was.
Having seen the young master and the young master's wife, the chief strategist Lin Yao said, "Young Master, all the seeds we planted have sprouted. Fortune is truly mysterious. We planted them yesterday, and they sprouted today. The sprouting rate is quite high; they are all spirit vegetables."
Rong Yang, small in stature, possessed the bearing of a young master, "The ones my mother and I planted have also sprouted."
The advisors immediately grew curious and asked, "May we take a look?"
Rong Yang agreed, "Yes."
So, a whole crowd rushed to the side hall of the main building. The young prince brought his pot to show the advisors, then showed it to the guards. Everyone gasped and exclaimed, marveling that the fortune-laden snow and rain could indeed grow spirit vegetables.
"Let's go see the spirit vegetables we planted," the advisors and guards invited.
"Let's go," the young prince said eagerly, "Let's take a look."
Growing spirit vegetables indoors was far more impressive than in the fields. Any cultivator would value it highly, so the whole crowd immediately headed to the living room next to Rong He Shizi's study.
The advisors and guards each brought their best pot of spirit vegetables to show off, comparing them with one another. The young prince saw this, ran back to fetch his own pot of spirit vegetables; this required a competition to see who was better.
Being competitive wasn't a flaw.
If you grow them well, I grow them even better.
Qin Bi: "..."
Qin Bi didn't know if Rong Yang wanted to compete, so she looked at the child. Rong Yang remained calm. It made sense; in terms of comparison, only Qin Bi and Rong Yang had grown so many spirit vegetables. Others didn't have that much snow and rain.
That wasn't entirely true; the advisors smiled proudly.
The snow-laden Young Master's wife and Young Master inside the manor had secured their share, but the advisors and guards outside the manor had gathered quite a bit. Thinking of the neighbors nearby, the advisors went to investigate, and the news was extraordinary.
Several young masters came to the door, "Rong He Shizi, could you summon another snow and rain?"
Rong Juan looked at Qin Bi, pulled the little milk bun's small cloak tighter to wrap the child up so the cold wind wouldn't catch him, and also pulled Qin Bi's beast-fur cloak for her.
Compared to the child, Qin Bi's body was weaker.
Qin Bi looked at Rong Yang. Rong Yang said, "No, the little cloud is tired."
The young masters were somewhat disappointed. One youth said, "The snow and rain summoned by your manor carried fortune. The vegetable seeds we planted yesterday all sprouted today; what grew are all spirit vegetables."
The youth clapped his hands, saying joyfully, "This fortune is truly amazing."
Hearing the praise, Qin Bi couldn't help but smile, her expression bright.
A young master about the same age as Rong He Shizi walked up close to Rong Juan, smiled at the child, and then said, "Rong He Shizi, next time you summon snow and rain, give us a heads-up."
Why give a heads-up? Naturally, to gather snow.
The advisors of the Rong Wang Manor chuckled, thinking, "Just wait. They'll only tell you if they want to. This time they didn't mind, nor did they expect the fortune cluster from the Qin Yan Marquis Manor to join the fun. Next time, they'll try not to let it fall outside the manor."
One's own good things should be gathered by oneself.
Rong Juan said, "We'll see."
"Don't just say 'we'll see'," the young master said anxiously, "Next time you summon snow and rain, you must give us a heads-up."
Rong Juan then said, "I'll speak to the Young Master's wife and the child later. If we summon it, I'll inform the various manors."
With that, people from the various manors would know that this summoning was organized by the Young Master's wife and the young master. After exchanging pleasantries, the advisors rushed off to the neighbors' manors to see the spirit vegetables.
Some children also came to see Rong Yang and Qin Bi's spirit vegetables, mostly to see Rong Yang's, and incidentally Qin Bi's. In this way, Rong Yang got to know several children, and the children had all seen Qin Bi.
Qin Bi glanced over them; she didn't remember a single one.
Qin Bi said to the young prince, "Hurry to your maternal grandfather's house to see if the snow they gathered grew spirit vegetables."
The young prince had just taken the little milk bun from Rong He Shizi's hands. Hearing this, he handed the little milk bun to Qin Bi and hurriedly left. The Minister of War's wife had grown sprouted spirit vegetables, but the Minister himself hadn't planted yet.
The young prince's uncle had grown spirit vegetables. The young prince visited several other ministers' manors and even the Prime Minister's manor. Those who had grown spirit vegetables were all very happy.
Fu Bao went to the palace to ask the young prince for snow and rain. Qin He heard that all the manors had grown spirit vegetables.
Qin He was both angry and furious, "We were a step too late. It should have been me and Fu Bao who grew the spirit vegetables first. The young prince is so stingy. Fu Bao asked him for a bit of gathered snow, which isn't even a rare treasure, yet he couldn't bear to give it."
Now it was too late; these manors grew spirit vegetables first, stealing the spotlight.
If she and Fu Bao had grown the spirit vegetables first, it would have proven that the fortune of the snow and rain summoned by her, Qin He, was powerful. Thinking of this, Qin Bi felt depressed and angry, utterly frustrated. It was all the young prince's stinginess.
Qin He was unwilling. After thinking for a moment, she immediately stood up and went to the Qin Yan Marquis Manor.
