Chapter 494: One Can't Be Blind Either
"Cousin." Qin He asked Qin Tang and Qin Xun, "Do you want to use my summoning magic treasure?"
Although she knew Qin Tang and Qin Xun had summoning magic treasures, Qin He still wanted to ask; perhaps their summoning magic treasures had lost their spiritual energy? Qin He wanted to appear very approachable and good-natured.
Of course, Qin He had her own purpose. If Qin Tang and Qin Xun used her summoning magic treasure, it might attract the Hou Fu's small luck little Little Tuanzi. Qin Tang and Qin Xun had always been on the same team as Qin Bi and Qin Lang.
With blessings from both sides, who could say?
"No need," Qin Tang said.
"If you need it, just tell me," Qin He said, not minding the rejection.
She was generous and open, not holding grudges against narrow-minded people.
Qin Tang was not enthusiastic. The poor relationship between the Second House and the Fourth House was entirely due to Qin He. If the relationship was bad, so be it; why pretend to be harmonious? As long as appearances were maintained, Qin He's efforts were truly unnecessary.
After Qin He left, Qin Xun whispered to Qin Tang, "I always feel that Qin He intends to entangle herself with us."
Regardless of whether it was good or bad, neither Qin Xun nor Qin Tang intended to deal with people from the Second House. The two brothers had shown this intention as soon as they arrived in the Barbarian Lands. Was Qin He blind? Surely she hadn't failed to notice?!
Qin Tang nodded. Whatever Qin He's scheme was, it didn't matter.
That day, Qin Tang and Qin Xun summoned rain and snow all day, roughly clearing a plot of farmland suitable for planting, then put away their summoning magic treasures.
Qin Han came over and said, "We can plant vegetables now."
Qin Tang said, "It's getting late. Let's go back."
The Wang He Shizi led the group to the government office's teleportation array, leaving the Barbarian Lands. Qin He did not return directly to the Xue Wang Fu; instead, she followed them to the Qin Yan Hou Fu. Thus, the Qin Yan Hou's Lady arranged for Qin Yan and others to eat together in the front courtyard.
"Go invite Qin Lang to eat with us," Qin He suggested.
Qin Yan: "..."
Qin Yan glanced at Qin Xiang. Qin Xiang found a concubine-born son to go invite Qin Lang. Everyone eating together were Hou Fu young masters who had gone to the Barbarian Lands. After working hard all day clearing the wasteland, they would return to rest immediately after the meal.
Qin Yan had not originally intended to invite Qin Lang, but since Qin He suggested it, he couldn't very well not invite him.
The concubine-born son returned and sat down to eat: "Qin Lang is not at home."
Qin Lang had gone to the Rong Wang Fu. At first, he went to find Rong Juan and Jiang Xu. After playing enough, he went to find Rong Yang and Rong Chi. The concubine-born son didn't mention this, but Qin He and Qin Han kept calling for Qin Lang, so everyone knew what was going on.
What Qin Lang was doing at that moment, the concubine-born son figured that if he mentioned it, Qin He and Qin Han would get anxious again.
Qin He was very disappointed, ate her meal, and left.
If Qin Lang had come to eat with them, she could have persuaded him to go to the Barbarian Lands. Mainly, her system magic treasure had shown no movement yet. If Qin Lang was lucky, perhaps by being close to Qin Lang, any injury to the system could be repaired.
Everyone chatted while eating, and the meal lasted an hour.
When it was time to return to their courtyards, Qin Tang said to the Wang He Shizi, "Tomorrow, Qin Xun and I won't go. The farmland we cleared is about one fen in size and ready for planting. The edges aren't cleared yet; we'll deal with that after spring. The Red Flame Festival is coming soon, and there are things we need to handle."
"My eldest concubine-born brother and I will go to the Barbarian Lands for two more days, but then we won't go either," Qin Yan nodded. "The Hou Fu has many things to do for the Red Flame Festival. My eldest concubine-born brother and I also need to get busy."
After Qin Tang and Qin Xun left, almost everyone at the table had gone. Few people heard the conversation between Qin Yan and Qin Tang. It was late, and the Hou Fu young masters and young ladies were all tired, returning to their respective courtyards.
As soon as Qin Tang and Qin Xun returned to the Fourth House, Qin Lang ran over: "What's going on? I didn't follow you to the Barbarian Lands to clear the wasteland. Why invite me to eat? When did I become so favored? Before, when Qin He hosted banquets, it made no difference whether I was there or not. What's this? The banquet the Eldest Aunt prepared for the Hou Fu young masters going to the Barbarian Lands even knew to invite me?"
Qin Xun sat on a chair, straightened his robe, and snorted, "Today she even had a fit, wanting to give my eldest brother and me her summoning magic treasure to use?"
Did they not have any? They had summoning magic treasures!
Qin He wanted to ease relations with them, to get close. She couldn't be blind, could she? Did they lack such a thing, so she offered it as a favor? People like Qin He were the shrewdest; they relied entirely on their mouths to earn favors.
One sentence, and she got praised for being sensible.
Qin Lang leaned on the table talking to his cousin, frowning in confusion: "Strange and weird."
Qin Tang picked up a cup of tea and took a sip: "Tomorrow, Qin Xun and I won't go."
Regardless of Qin He's schemes, Qin Tang and Qin Xun were not going to the Barbarian Lands. Qin Lang nodded and told Qin Tang and Qin Xun how cute the little milk Little Tuanzi was, how much he wanted to take it home, but the Rong He Shizi wouldn't agree.
Qin Lang was just saying it; he didn't dare. The Rong He Shizi protected the little milk Little Tuanzi like his own eyeball. If a little wind blew, or the little Little Tuanzi sneezed, Qin Lang's sky would collapse.
Listening to Qin Lang talk about the little milk Little Tuanzi, Qin Tang and Qin Xun felt better, their fatigue swept away. As long as the two little nephews grew up well and didn't die young, the Fourth House of the Qin Yan Hou Fu would have a pillar of support.
"Let's take it step by step," Qin Tang sighed. "Back then, when we were deliberately snubbed by the two powerful ministers' sons, the Fourth House had almost no chance to rise to prominence, unlike the Second House: 'The He He Shizi gave Qin He too many cultivation resources. The Rong He Shizi depleted the Rong Wang Fu's reserves for Qin Bi and Rong Yang. It's not easy for our Fourth House to catch up to the Second House's cultivation resources.'"
Qin Lang felt a pain in his chest: "But those were all Rong Yang's things."
Qin Tang said nothing, and Qin Xun said nothing. So what if they were Rong Yang's things? The He He Shizi had given them to Qin He! When Qin He married, her dowry alone was extremely generous, and the He Shi had been so angry she fell ill.
Qin Lang chatted for a while longer, then went back.
The next day, the Wang He Shizi led the group to the Ministry of Revenue's teleportation array.
Qin Han looked around: "Where are my two elder brothers?"
"Qin Tang and Qin Xun aren't going," Qin Yan said.
Qin He didn't hear, but Qin Han felt gloomy. Qin Tang and Qin Xun were her pillar of support; they didn't go and didn't even tell her. The Wang He Shizi led the group into the teleportation array, instantly arriving in the Barbarian Lands.
Everyone scattered, going to the spots they had chosen for clearing the wasteland.
Qin He looked around and realized Qin Tang and Qin Xun hadn't come. She went to ask Qin Yan: "Where are my two cousins, Qin Tang and Qin Xun?"
"They have things to do," Qin Yan said. "They aren't coming to the Barbarian Lands."
Qin He exclaimed, "Why didn't you say so earlier?"
Qin Yan's expressionless face: "They told me."
Qin He realized she had misspoken: "I, I, I didn't mean anything else."
She didn't know how to explain, stammering.
The Wang He Shizi ignored her. He wouldn't come to the Barbarian Lands to clear the wasteland for two more days; the Hou Fu needed to prepare for the Red Flame Festival. The Qin Yan Hou Fu had just become a cultivation family. Last year, they hadn't interacted much with other cultivation families, but today they had to start preparing.
Qin He summoned once, but there was still no rain or snow. She walked over to the farmland cleared by Qin Tang and Qin Xun, looked at it, and saw the soil was not dry; it was already cleared.
Qin He gave Qin Han an idea: "You plant vegetables."
