Chapter 50: Divination
Rong Juan: "......"
Qin Lang stopped eating melon seeds: "......When did you learn to divine?"
Rong Juan thought, Yes, when did she learn to divine? No one heard the Princess Consort could divine. Before she had a spiritual root, the Princess Consort was just a concubine's daughter from Qin Yan's Marquis Fu; Rong Juan didn't even know her.
Qin Bi had no words; she had figured it out herself.
"I just feel I'm ready to emerge," Qin Bi said honestly.
Qin Bi's expression was serious, trying to make these two believe she was cut out for divination; she just wanted to cast one divination.
She had a feeling she had to divine.
Rong Juan was speechless. Just you feeling it isn't enough. Metaphysical masters come from immortal sects; divination requires entering an immortal sect to study the art of divination. And "emerge"? He'd never heard that fresh term; "graduated" would be more like it.
She really knows nothing!
"Sister," Qin Lang sighed helplessly, his mouth twitching as he took some roasted peanuts: "Let's talk about reclaiming wasteland instead. You bringing up divination is out of left field; it's pretty funny, okay."
Qin Lang thought Qin Bi was joking, and Rong Juan now thought Qin Bi was joking too.
"Really," Qin Bi knew no one would believe her nonsense; no one would take it seriously. But she wanted to confirm it; her feeling was too strong. Qin Bi smiled and said, "It's not exactly divination; it's more about adjusting someone's luck."
Qin Bi smiled, yet her face was serious.
Qin Lang and Rong Juan exchanged a glance; they wanted to talk about something else; reclaiming wasteland was better. But Qin Bi wouldn't talk about anything else; she insisted on this matter. The two were helpless and had to keep it in mind.
Rong Juan even thought that Rong He Shizi marrying Qin Bi was indeed a mismatch.
Rong He Shizi had both civil strategy and military prowess; he could plan from a command tent, fight on the battlefield, and solve problems for the Emperor in the imperial court. Yet Qin Bi, whether by background or talent, was a mismatch for Rong He Shizi.
Qin Bi only had the title of Princess Consort; beyond that, she had nothing to show.
Fortunately, Qin Bi had always stayed inside the Wang Fu and never went out to deal with noble families. Otherwise, with her unimpressive appearance, the ladies and young ladies of every household would not have taken her seriously.
"Divine for me and show me," Rong Juan said, taking a monster scale hanging from his pouch.
Some monster scales can be used for divination or to enhance luck. Therefore, in the Great Yan Kingdom, if a child was loved, their family would buy a monster scale for them to wear.
Rong Juan happened to have one; he took it out for Qin Bi to divine.
Qin Lang watched Qin Bi. Qin Bi fell silent: "......I don't know how to use it."
She knew nothing, yet she just felt she was terrifyingly powerful right now.
Rong Juan: "!!!!!!"
Qin Lang: "......??!!!"
Qin Bi lacked persuasiveness; the matter was dropped.
Rong Juan stood up: "Since it's still early, I'll go to the reclaimed land."
Qin Lang stood up too: "I'll go too."
The two left. Qin Bi sighed. If she could use the monster scale for divination, she could persuade others to let her divine. Unfortunately, she was clueless and couldn't explain divination.
She was confused enough; she couldn't even bluff anyone.
Forget it; Qin Bi felt empty inside.
The winter wind howled. Qin Lang had to go home; after leaving Rong Wang Fu, he parted with Rong Juan. Rong Juan passed by the Spirit Plant Street, hesitated, and went straight to the Medicine Shop to ask about elixir prices.
The prices were a bit high. Rong Juan returned to the carriage and went to the Ministry of Works where the teleportation array was activated.
In the mid-afternoon, Rong Juan and Rong Yang returned from the palace.
Rong Yang wobbled over to find Qin Bi: "Mother."
Qin Bi stood up, went over, and picked up the child: "Rong Yang is back. Are you cold?"
She touched his small hand; it was warm.
Rong Yang smiled and shook his head: "Not cold."
"I'm afraid of the cold," Qin Bi said, her eyes and brows smiling. Seeing the child made her happy from the bottom of her heart. She walked to the charcoal stove, took a roasted sweet potato, sat down holding the child: "I roasted a sweet potato for you."
Rong Yang smiled brightly. Qin Bi held the child and peeled the sweet potato; after peeling a bit, she fed it to the little one.
"Did Rong Juan and Qin Lang come?" Rong Juan went over to take off Rong Yang's small cloak.
"Mm." The entire Rong Wang Fu was under Rong Juan's control; Qin Bi didn't hide it. She nodded: "I wanted to earn some spirit stones for Rong Yang, so I asked Rong Juan. He said we could reclaim wasteland."
Rong Juan sat at the table, his expression calm: "I will save for Rong Yang."
Qin Bi instinctively acted spoiled: "I want to save for Rong Yang too."
It was rare; Rong Juan paused: "Okay."
Qin Bi got her wish, holding Rong Yang with a full smile; Rong Juan was in a good mood too. After Rong Yang finished the roasted sweet potato, the guards set out the four treasures of the study, and Rong Juan called Rong Yang over to teach the little one reading and writing.
Seeing Qin Bi nearby, Rong Juan picked out a few books for her.
Qin Bi didn't ask how Rong Juan knew she liked reading. No one in the entire Qin Yan Marquis Fu didn't know she loved books. There was no other reason; He Yan gave her books and gave Qin He agate and crystal stones; who wouldn't know?
At the wedding, the dowry was the books He Yan gave; they were returned.
Qin He kept the agate and crystal stones; she probably couldn't bear to part with them, after all, they were solid gold and silver.
Rong Yang was still young; he wasn't even half a year old. After writing two calligraphy sheets, Rong Juan let him go play. Qin Bi followed the child into the courtyard; the toddler wobbled around the yard.
Rong Juan returned from the reclaimed land and came to Rong Wang Fu.
"Princess Consort, I checked the reclaimed land and selected a plot," Rong Juan bowed, then asked, "Qin Lang and I will go select a plot to reclaim tomorrow. Does the Princess Consort want to come with us?"
Qin Bi looked at Rong Juan. Rong Juan said, "It would be better to reclaim land on our own fief."
Qin Bi smiled and said, "I'll go take a look first."
Rong Juan let it go. Rong Juan and Qin Bi set a time; the next day, he would come to fetch Qin Bi to leave together.
After saying this, Rong Juan said excitedly, "I picked up a plot of land."
Qin Bi: "???!!!"
Rong Yang's eyes widened instantly: "Where did you pick it up?"
Rong Juan looked over. Rong Juan had a small surprise, his expression secretly delighted: "I went to Spirit Plant Street first, then to the Ministry of Works to activate the teleportation array. When I got to the reclaimed land, I walked around, and then I picked up a cultivable field from a large patch of wasteland."
"Did I calculate it correctly?" Qin Bi realized immediately.
"You must have calculated it correctly." Rong Juan nodded; finding a field for free had excited him terribly.
In the Great Yan Kingdom, even finding a spirit crystal was not as joyful as finding a field.
Qin Bi felt both incredulous and a small thrill of having calculated correctly, and could not help saying, "Next time, I will cast a divination for you again."
Rong Juan nodded: "Agreed."
Taking out a demon beast crystal, Rong Juan said, "A token of gratitude for the Princess Consort."
Qin Bi hesitated, but Rong Juan understood what was happening and accepted it without ceremony; a guard stepped forward, took the crystal, and handed it to Rong Yang, who had been waiting eagerly on the side.
The little one immediately put it into her purse.
