Chapter 64

~9 min read 1,603 words

The transmigrator's Fubao child—everyone else was just a control group.

Rong Juan glanced at the pleasantly surprised little Imperial Prince. This was just sending equipment to the transmigrator's child. He peeled a spirit melon seed for Rong Yang; this was his child, and he would certainly not send equipment to the transmigrator's child.

"For me?" The little Imperial Prince was surprised.

The Great Yan Emperor was also surprised, laughing happily: "Eat quickly, why so much nonsense."

The little Imperial Prince peeled seeds to eat and complained to Rong Yang: "Your father is still the best. Fubao got my spirit melon seeds and didn't share a single one with me. I really wanted to eat them; my maternal grandfather only gave me a handful."

Leaning close to Rong Yang, Yan Xun whispered: "My maternal grandfather also told me to hide them secretly to eat. I want to save them for my younger brothers and sisters. The Emperor said that you and Fubao are my younger brother and sister, no distinction between near and far."

Rong Juan: "......"

Rong Yang snuggled up to Rong Juan, tilted his little head, and confirmed: "I am the real one."

"Naturally." Rong Juan placed the peeled seeds into the child's hand, his handsome Heir Apparent eyes carrying a hint of a smile: "Our Rong Yang is the real one. After eating, we'll go home; your mother should be back from clearing the fields."

"Okay." The child replied obediently.

The Great Yan Emperor said to the little Imperial Prince: "Take your younger brother to see my cabbage."

The little Imperial Prince took Rong Yang and left. Rong Juan put away a few spirit melon seeds, thinking he would give them to the child later if he wanted to eat them. He picked up his pen and continued to review memorials. There were a few more memorials, and after finishing, he would take a trip to the immortal sect.

The child was quite playful. By the time Rong Yang and the little Imperial Prince returned from seeing the cabbage patch, Rong Juan had already been to the immortal sect and back, bringing back a chicken infused with spiritual energy. The little Imperial Prince's eyes lit up.

Unfortunately, there was none for him. Rong Juan held the child and left the palace.

"Sigh!" The Great Yan Emperor sighed.

"Why does Father Emperor sigh?" The little Imperial Prince asked, looking up.

"It would be good if the Heir Apparent Consort gave Rong Yang a younger brother." The Great Yan Emperor had a belly full of words with nowhere to go.

Theoretically, with He Yan's methods, he could have completely taken Qin Bi back after the divorce. But Rong Juan married Qin Bi and even gave birth to Rong Yang, and this child was still He Yan's.

The child Rong Juan was raising had nothing to do with He Yan!

The Great Yan Emperor sighed, eating a piece of pastry and sighing with every bite. The little Imperial Prince stayed for a while and then left. Outside the palace, his maternal grandfather, the Minister of War, heard that he had shared all his spirit melon seeds and was so angry he almost fainted.

This prince was just a little pitiful thing; he couldn't get his hands on any good things.

Compared to the other little Imperial Princes, they were all about the same, so the Minister wasn't too distressed. If there were some who were shrewd and some who were naive, it would be annoying, but since they were all about the same, he felt relieved.

In the Rong Prince Manor, the kitchen in the Heir Apparent's courtyard was busy stewing chicken, throwing in two kinds of mountain delicacies, and the fragrance was overflowing.

Qin Bi returned from the fief, and Rong Yang pulled her, chattering: "They stewed chicken, I smelled it, it's so fragrant. Mother, we were just waiting for you to come back to eat the spirit-plant chicken. We've all eaten."

"How big is it?" Qin Bi put down the vegetables and asked curiously.

"This big." The child gestured.

Lin Yao knew, however, and replied: "Spirit-plant chickens are mostly raised by immortal sects. One is about a pound or so; there aren't any very large spirit-plant chickens. With mountain delicacies added, the spirit-plant chicken meat is delicious, fragrant but not greasy."

Qin Bi was stunned; it was only such a small one.

After Lin Yao finished speaking, he went to see Rong Juan. After reporting to the Heir Apparent, he and Guard Yan stir-fried vegetables to eat. This time they brought back several vegetables from the fief that didn't look good, so they dug them up to bring back and eat.

Qin Bi washed her hands, held Rong Yang, and returned to the room to warm herself by the charcoal stove.

Rong Juan finished handling his affairs and returned to the room. Rong Yang ran over unsteadily: "Father, are we dining?"

Rong Juan nodded and ordered: "Bring dinner for the little Heir Apparent."

The maids and nannies took only a moment to set the dishes on the table. The family sat down to eat. Qin Bi held Rong Yang and fed him; the little guy was not even half a year old and was still very young.

"I can do it myself." Rong Yang said.

Although the child said so, Qin Bi scooped a spoonful of soup for him, and the child drank it with an "ah-wu."

"I'll feed him." Rong Juan reached out.

Qin Bi gave the child to Rong Juan. Rong Juan said: "Spirit-plant chicken is good for you."

Qin Bi tasted a piece. Rong Juan scooped up some chicken soup, the child opened his mouth, and Rong Juan took the porcelain spoon and brought it to Qin Bi's lips. Qin Bi looked at Rong Yang: "Give it to Rong Yang to drink, he's waiting."

"Mother, you drink." Rong Yang said.

Qin Bi drank it, and Rong Juan scooped another spoonful to feed the child.

It was too bland, and Qin Bi didn't like it much, only drinking the chicken soup. But the chicken soup was a bit greasy, so Qin Bi drank a little and stopped, picking up her chopsticks to eat other dishes. She didn't have the palate for it and couldn't eat good things.

"Not to your taste?" Rong Juan asked.

"Too bland." Qin Bi said: "The chicken soup is greasy."

Rong Juan picked a piece of mountain delicacy from the stewed chicken for Qin Bi. Qin Bi ate it and then didn't touch the stewed chicken anymore. The child loved it, so leave it for Rong Yang; spirit-plant chicken couldn't be eaten at every meal.

After dinner, Qin Bi played with Rong Yang. Rong Juan took two books and gave them to Qin Bi: "These are alchemy books I asked for from the immortal sect. Your talent won't get you into an immortal sect, so just ponder alchemy at home."

Immortal sect books were precious. Qin Bi only took one look and, roasting a sweet potato, said: "You put them away for me."

Rong Juan placed them on the desk. After the sweet potato was roasted, the child ate it with great relish. Qin Bi peeled one and found it delicious, so she simply ate them all, feeling a bit strange in her heart.

At night, while sleeping, Qin Bi leaned into Rong Juan's arms and said: "I'm not going to the fief tomorrow."

No one had asked her to go anyway. Rong Juan gave an "en." The man who had been reborn for several lives had a hard heart and not much emotion. He held her and said: "Sleep, I won't call you in the morning."

Qin Bi closed her eyes but couldn't sleep well, her heart burdened with things.

Rong Juan noticed but closed his eyes to rest. In the morning, Rong Juan got up to dress, not in a hurry to call Rong Yang; it was better for the child to sleep a bit more. After he finished breakfast, he could bring a small food box for Rong Yang to take to court.

Qin Bi woke up but didn't get up. Rong Juan returned to the bedroom from outside, preparing to call Rong Yang.

Qin Bi got up and said: "Take my pulse."

"Are you not feeling well?" Rong Juan sat on the edge of the bed and took Qin Bi's hand to take her pulse.

Transmigrator women always feel they are so amazing, but in reality, compared to the children raised from childhood by noble and prestigious families, their knowledge is far inferior. Some noble young masters understand medical principles and are also proficient in music, chess, calligraphy, and painting.

She didn't learn well in her previous life and still showed off after transmigrating—it was utterly ridiculous.

Qin Bi deliberated but didn't respond. Rong Juan took her pulse, and his expression changed. Qin Bi looked at the man, also not making a sound. Rong Juan was always one not to reveal his emotions, but at this moment, his hand was shaking slightly.

"Go and invite the imperial physician." Rong Juan ordered.

The guard acknowledged the order and left. Rong Juan's expression was unfathomable. He pulled the quilt and gathered Qin Bi into his arms, his movements very gentle. Rong Juan said: "You might be pregnant."

Qin Bi had guessed it; she had suspected she might be pregnant when eating dinner.

She just couldn't believe it. After all, she had the fate of having no children.

The imperial physician arrived quickly, took her pulse, and said: "He He Shizi Apparent Consort is pregnant."
