Chapter 468
Trapped In Paradise
After borrowing the money, Wang Jie was finally ready to set off.
Since he didn’t know how long he would be staying at his girlfriend’s place this time, he pulled out his suitcase and began packing. His movements were slow and hesitant, dragging things out—taking several minutes just to pick up a single piece of clothing, as if carefully considering whether it was worth bringing. He then stopped in front of the computer, pondering whether or not to take his laptop with him.
Ning Chu couldn’t stand watching anymore.
She strode over, shoved Wang Jie aside, glanced at the half-filled suitcase, reached into the wardrobe and grabbed several pieces of clothing, yanked the laptop’s power cord out, stuffed everything into the suitcase, snapped it shut, zipped it up, pulled out the handle, and shoved it straight into Wang Jie’s hands.
“Alright, let’s go.”
Her swift, decisive actions startled Wang Jie. He stood there dazed. “Huh?”
“Hurry up! Get lost!”
She kicked him in the butt. “You borrowed Wen Yang’s money—pay it back as soon as possible! And deal with your girlfriend’s situation already!”
At that moment, Wen Yang walked over, pressed a hand on his shoulder, and pushed him straight out of the dormitory. “Go and coax your girlfriend.”
After kicking Wang Jie out, Wen Yang turned back and asked, “That should do it now, right?”
“Probably?”
Someone like Wang Jie, who avoids problems and shrinks back from decisions, needs to be kicked in the butt and pushed forward. Once he hesitates and overthinks for too long, he’ll definitely back out halfway again. It wasn’t that Wang Jie didn’t like his girlfriend—it was simply his personality.
To keep him from overthinking things on the way, Ning Chu turned to Zhang Shaoqing. “You drive him to the station and buy him the nearest ticket?”
“You’re such a busybody,” Zhang Shaoqing yawned as he opened a drawer and took out his car keys. “I’ll just drive him straight to his wife’s school. Wen Yang, help me ask for leave this afternoon.”
“That works best~”
“Oh man, what a hard life I’ve got~”
Grumbling, Zhang Shaoqing grabbed his keys and rushed out of the dorm. Sure enough, as soon as he opened the door, he saw Wang Jie still standing there, hesitating.
He hooked an arm around Wang Jie’s neck and dragged him toward the stairs, grinning as he reassured him. “You don’t want Ning Chu to look down on you, do you? Come on! You made this mess yourself, now clean it up. All you know how to do is have fun—couldn’t even bother wearing protection.”
“I wanted to wear it too…”
“Your bunny-wife is that fierce? Man~ looks can be deceiving~”
“……”
“Hey, rabbit girls don’t give birth to a whole litter of little bunnies, do they? How would you even afford to raise them?”
“Probably not…”
“Tsk tsk, if you don’t talk her down this time, in a couple of years you’ll probably have enough kids to form a soccer team.”
Watching Zhang Shaoqing and Wang Jie walk downstairs arm in arm, Ning Chu finally pulled her head back inside the dorm room.
Several men in the hallway had already noticed a girl mixed into the dorm building, but that kind of thing was common enough that no one made a fuss. The management of the men’s dorms was never as strict as that of the women’s dorms.
“Now it’s up to Wang Jie,” Wen Yang said, sitting at Zhang Shaoqing’s computer and turning his head. “What are you still worried about?”
“Nothing…”
Ning Chu turned her head away guiltily, avoiding Wen Yang’s gaze.
The word “guilty” was practically written all over her face—on both cheeks. She tried hard to hide her emotions, yet ended up revealing them completely, cute and clumsy at the same time.
Wen Yang didn’t press her. He patiently opened Zhang Shaoqing’s game library.
Although that two-faced guy wasn’t very proper as a person, his game library was surprisingly wholesome. There was only a single adult game—a catgirl game. Compared to Ning Chu’s game library, it was practically pure.
And all the adult games in Ning Chu’s library were shared from Lily.
As for Wen Yang, his library was full of free games—giveaways he had claimed. He relied entirely on freeloading.
The game had only been open for ten minutes before the little succubus could no longer hold back. Hugging a small stool, she sat down beside Wen Yang and asked worriedly, “You lent Wang Jie two thousand five hundred all at once… What if he doesn’t pay it back?”
“How could that happen?”
“How couldn’t it!”
There was no one else in the dorm. Ning Chu raised her voice, grumbling with clear dissatisfaction. “When I was in high school, I couldn’t even afford enough food myself, and I still borrowed several hundred here and there from friends. I still haven’t paid it back!”
Wen Yang looked at her in surprise. “Didn’t your mom give you money?”
Ning Chu grew agitated. She fiddled with the cotton strings on her hoodie, tying them into little knots one after another. “Wang Jie only asked for two thousand to begin with, and you were so generous you gave him an extra five hundred… If he just asked his family, he could definitely get the money. Why did he have to borrow from you? It’s like you’re made of money or something.”
“If he doesn’t pay it back, then so be it.”
“You make it sound easy. You worked a whole month during winter break to earn that money! If you don’t feel bad about it, I do!”
Even though they had been living in the same dorm for several months, Ning Chu had long believed that when it came to lending money, you had to be prepared never to see it again. There were plenty of stories about people getting burned by relatives and childhood friends alike.
With everyone around earlier, she hadn’t been able to say much. She could only watch Wen Yang act cool and generously lend the money out.
This guy probably thought he looked so handsome and impressive while lending it, right? For all he knew, people might just think he’s a fool.
“It’s fine. Wang Jie’s not that kind of person,” Wen Yang said with a smile. “And if he really doesn’t pay it back, then at least we’ll see his true colors and avoid bigger losses in the future.”
Ning Chu glared at him angrily. “If it were a few dozen or a hundred, fine—but this much… You’ll only know it hurts after you get burned!”
“Alright, alright, my mistake. Next time I’ll discuss it with you before lending money.”
They rarely argued. Every time one started, Wen Yang would immediately admit defeat without hesitation, leaving Ning Chu unsure where to direct her anger.
The frustration sat heavy in her chest. She pressed her lips together, brows furrowed, and walked toward the dorm exit with a displeased expression.
“Where are you going?” Wen Yang quickly stood up to follow.
“To the girls’ dorm. Lily said she’d help me do my nails. And I’ll check on that octopus while I’m at it,” Ning Chu snapped as she pushed the door open. “Why are you following me?”
“Should I stay behind and reflect on my mistakes?”
She turned to look at Wen Yang’s sheepish grin, unsure whether he truly realized he was wrong or was just apologizing because she was angry.
“Take the trash out when you leave.”
She tossed the reminder over her shoulder, then stepped out of the dorm and slammed the door shut with a bang.
Wen Yang sighed helplessly and returned to Zhang Shaoqing’s computer.
When it came to money, Ning Chu’s temper this time was worse than ever before. In the past, as long as he admitted fault and cracked a few jokes, she would end up laughing—but this time it didn’t work.
He scratched his head in frustration, no longer interested in the game on the screen.
He really hadn’t thought it through enough…
