Chapter 470

~8 min read 1,401 words

Night gradually deepened.

By the time the afternoon classes were over and they returned to the rented apartment, it was already close to seven in the evening.

Ning Chu sat at the desk, yawning, absentmindedly clicking the mouse and staring blankly at the computer screen.

After what happened at noon, her mood hadn’t been very good.

It wasn’t that she was still angry at Wen Yang. She wanted to act cheerful and lively, but a heavy, low mood filled her chest and mind. A stifled feeling clogged her throat, leaving her without any energy.

She clearly hadn’t been like this before…

After becoming a woman, she had grown more emotional, and today it was especially bad.

“Still mad?”

Wen Yang took off his jacket and shoes, then approached with an awkward smile.

“On it.”

Hearing the sound of running water from the bathroom, she waved her hand in front of her nose, then got up to open the windows to air out the smell of Wen Yang’s feet.

Recently, Wen Yang had been practicing a lot, exercising more than usual. Every night when he took off his shoes, the smell was intense.

Fortunately, Wen Yang was hygienic—most of the time, without needing to be told, he would go wash up on his own.

“I wonder if Wang Jie has managed to settle things by now…”

After washing his feet, Wen Yang put on his slippers and sat at the foot of the bed, muttering with some concern.

“If he hasn’t, his girlfriend is harder to appease than I am.”

“You don’t even know her, do you?”

“She’s pregnant, okay? Wang Jie was dumb enough to come back for classes. She must be furious.”

“That’s true…” Wen Yang chuckled as he teased Wang Jie. “The next few days probably won’t be easy for him.”

Ning Chu snorted. “Serves him right for not using protection.”

Though from what Zhang Shaoqing said before leaving with Wang Jie, it seemed like that bunny-girl girlfriend was the one who didn’t let Wang Jie take precautions…

What a fierce woman~ Even as a succubus, Ning Chu wouldn’t dare mess around like that.

Although it really does feel better without protection…

Dropping the topic of Wang Jie, Wen Yang asked instead, “What do you feel like eating tonight?”

“No appetite.”

“You seemed pretty low-energy all afternoon.”

“My mood’s bad…”

Ning Chu lay listlessly on the desk. It should have been time for dinner and writing her novel, but she didn’t feel like doing anything at all. Even getting up to drink water or go to the bathroom felt like too much effort—let alone writing.

“How about eating me? I’ll make sure you’re full?”

She turned back and shot Wen Yang a look. “You actually took Xinya’s dirty jokes seriously?”

“Not exactly…”

But then again, his girlfriend really was a little succubus, and every night she did complain about being hungry, looking like she could never be fully satisfied.

Wen Yang couldn’t quite figure out what Ning Chu was thinking at the moment. He stood up and said proactively, “I’ll go buy food then. Eat a little, at least. Not eating is bad for your stomach.”

“Mm.”

She gave a perfunctory response, still lying on the desk without lifting her head, listening as Wen Yang opened the door and his footsteps faded down the hallway.

She got up, planning to wash her face to perk herself up, but the phone on the desk began to vibrate.

Glancing at the screen, she answered the call.

“Hello, bro?”

This call was actually from her older brother, Ning Yuan.

Although their sibling relationship was fairly good, during the several months of the previous semester, they had only talked on the phone about five times—not like their mother, who called once or twice almost every week.

“Ning Chu, are you coming home for May Day?”

Hearing his voice, Ning Chu tried to sound more energetic, not wanting her brother to notice her low mood. “Probably not. I already made plans to go out with classmates.”

“Oh~ It’s good if you don’t come back. That way I can sleep in my room.” Ning Yuan suddenly changed the topic. “Why has Mom been coming to my rental place every few days lately? And she’s not even pressuring me to find a girlfriend anymore.”

“Ah?”

“Did you tell mom about my girlfriend?”

Ning Chu froze for a moment, almost forgetting about that incident.

But she quickly remembered. Her voice immediately softened, and she muttered guiltily, “I accidentally let it slip… It’s not a big deal anyway. Sister-in-law is pretty. Mom wouldn’t object, right?”

“She wouldn’t object, but she keeps coming over to my place every few days. Who can stand that?”

“Isn’t that just her caring about you? She can even help you clean and do chores~”

“No thanks…” Ning Yuan sighed gloomily. “I might have to move.”

Ning Chu fell silent, feeling guilty, until Ning Yuan asked again, “How have you been lately? That kid Wen Yang hasn’t been bullying you, has he?”

“Well… yes! He bullied me today!”

Her brother reacted intensely. “What the hell! I’ll break his legs today!”

“You can’t beat him.”

He quickly calmed down and asked about the reason. “How did he bully you? You two argued?”

“Bro, you’re really one to bully the weak and fear the strong~” Ning Chu teased before complaining, “He lent my classmate 2,500 without discussing it with me first. Not a huge deal, but still.”

“It’s his own money…”

“His money is my money! Go beat him up! How dare he spend my money!”

Ning Yuan was left speechless.

They weren’t even married yet! And she was already counting it as marital property?

They had only chatted for a little over ten minutes when Wen Yang pushed the door open and came back.

Even from down the hallway, he could hear Ning Chu complaining to her brother about what happened today.

So she was still upset after all…

Her mouth was really stubborn. Even when angry, she still pretended not to care, afraid he’d think she was petty.

“I’m hanging up. I’m going to eat dinner.”

As soon as Ning Chu finished speaking, a bottle of iced cola was placed in front of her.

“Here, your cola.”

“Feels like my period’s about due…” she muttered, but still picked up the cola and took a big, refreshing gulp. “What did you buy? I’ll just taste a little.”

“Fast food. And sauced pork bones.”

Several takeout boxes were opened. The aroma of the braised bones immediately caught Ning Chu’s attention.

Just a minute ago, she hadn’t felt hungry at all. But the moment she smelled the food, a strong emptiness stirred deep in her stomach. It growled audibly.

“I’m just tasting it…” Ning Chu put on disposable gloves and picked up a bone to gnaw on.

After finishing all the easily accessible meat and leaving the tougher bits clinging to the bone, she stretched contentedly, then got up to wash her face before flopping onto the bed.

Wen Yang didn’t mind that she had already chewed on the bones. While eating, he asked, “What were you talking about with your brother?”

“He just asked if I’m going home for May Day.”

Yawning as she lay on her back, Ning Chu pulled the blanket over her lower abdomen, which tended to get cold.

She scrolled through short videos on her phone one after another, but none of them held her attention for more than three seconds.

Until a shadow loomed over her at the head of the bed.

“What?”

Ning Chu glanced at Wen Yang standing beside the bed. His tall frame blocked the light, casting most of her body into shadow.

“I’m giving you a sincere apology.”

“I told you I’m not mad anymore…” she muttered, though her gaze couldn’t help drifting downward. Her eyes flickered, then grew unfocused. “And it’s still early. I haven’t even showered yet.”

“Don’t touch me. I’m annoyed, hey!”

But only a few minutes later, the little succubus who had just been resisting was now clinging tightly to Wen Yang’s arm with her legs. The faint displeasure on her face had long since turned into a vivid flush. Her eyes were moist with tears, and her breathing grew increasingly uneven.

“Harder~”

As expected, a little intimacy really did lift her spirits, her earlier gloom completely vanished.
