Chapter 298: The Contest of Devouring

Seeing this, Haixing Douluo immediately understood Shi Quan's intention.

"Want to compete in devouring? Then I shall grant your wish!" Haixing Douluo shook his four limbs, and while a powerful pulling force dragged Shi Quan inward, he also released his Martial Soul True Body.

His entire body became more supple, instantly transforming into a massive brown starfish sprawling across the Haixing Sacred Pillar Platform.

As Haixing Douluo's body grew larger, Shi Quan allowed himself to be pulled, merely controlling his body in the air to avoid being dragged over too easily; at the same time, he raised his right arm, and blue-gold light bloomed. Seeing Haixing Douluo release his Martial Soul True Body, Shi Quan also released the Martial Soul True Body of the Blue Silver Emperor Tree.

The blue-gold light condensed frantically around Shi Quan, transforming into a ten-meter-tall phantom of a massive Blue Silver Emperor Tree.

Since they were to compete in devouring, then it would be an all-around competition.

The first soul ring on Shi Quan's body suddenly lit up.

The Blue Silver Emperor Tree immediately erupted with brilliant blue-gold light; wherever the light reached, the vines of the Blue Silver Emperor Tree reached as well.

Almost in the blink of an eye, the blue-gold light had already covered Haixing Douluo's massive body.

The first round of the devouring ability competition began.

With both using their Martial Soul True Body, the strength of the Blue Silver Emperor Tree's Martial Soul True Body was clearly higher than Haixing Douluo's.

However, Haixing Douluo's devouring ability was not weak either; devouring was inherently a talent of the Starfish martial soul. Although Haixing Douluo's third soul skill was a thousand-year soul skill, he had the augmentation of a soul bone with a Devouring Attribute, and under the effect of his Martial Soul True Body, the effect of his third soul skill had already far exceeded fifty thousand years.

Relying solely on the devouring ability of the martial soul itself after releasing the Martial Soul True Body was still slightly insufficient to face Haixing Douluo's current devouring ability.

Yet, Shi Quan had not even begun to exert his strength.

As the clustered Blue Silver Emperor vines slowly tightened, the fifth soul ring on Shi Quan's body quietly lit up.

Fifth Soul Skill: Blue Silver Devouring Emperor Array!

Shi Quan's fifth soul ring came from the Sacrifice of the Blue Silver King, Yin Lao. As a hundred-thousand-year Blue Silver King, his bloodline had been promoted when Shi Quan's martial soul underwent Spirit Awakening, and he himself had been baptized by the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well; the soul skill he brought to Shi Quan was comparable to the soul skill of Shi Quan's life-bound soul ring.

The Blue Silver Devouring Emperor Array belonged to the domain-type area-of-effect soul skills. This soul skill had no offensive effect, but it could provide comprehensive augmentation to the Blue Silver Emperor Tree, such as devouring ability, resilience, Growth speed, strength, resistance, and even the Blue Silver Domain could receive its augmentation.

Furthermore, this augmentation was directional; it could augment a single attribute individually, doubling the original augmentation, though other augmentation effects would be weakened by fifty percent.

Previously, Shi Quan had used the Blue Silver Devouring Emperor Array to augment the Blue Silver Emperor Tree's devouring ability to affect Tang Hao's Killing God Domain.

The brilliant blue-gold light rippled outward; the Blue Silver Devouring Emperor Array covered the entire Ring Sea in the blink of an eye and extended toward the surrounding forest, and a massive life force suddenly erupted.

As Shi Quan's fifth soul skill unfolded, Haixing Douluo immediately felt clearly that his soul power began to flow away in reverse.

His massive body writhed violently. Haixing Douluo did not hesitate in the slightest, and the ninth soul ring on his body finally flashed.

Thousand Touches Ten Thousand Absorptions.

Haixing Douluo's ninth soul skill could devour any form of energy within the range reached by his tentacles and inject this energy into himself to replenish consumed energy. Moreover, in places with seawater, the skill's power increased by thirty percent. An absolutely terrifying ninth soul skill.

Within the Ring Sea, streams of seawater surged out like arrows, injecting directly from Haixing Douluo's suckers. His body began to become slick, and all the suckers on his body began to rhythmically pulse irregularly. The devouring continued, but Shi Quan's Blue Silver Emperor Tree's devouring became even harder to capture Haixing Douluo's body, while Haixing Douluo's devouring was constantly strengthening.

As Haixing Douluo's strongest soul skill, his ninth soul skill completely abandoned attacks, pouring everything into the single ability of devouring.

Its effect was, of course, astonishing.

With the release of Haixing Douluo's ninth soul skill, Shi Quan's original advantage immediately turned into a disadvantage.

The next second, the brilliant blue-gold light erupted instantly, suddenly dyeing the heavens and earth blue-gold like an exploding flame.

Blue Silver Domain!

The blue-gold light suddenly spread out, and a massive life aura diffused in an instant, not only covering the Haixing Sacred Pillar Platform and the Ring Sea in front of him. As the Blue Silver Devouring Emperor Array covered the vast forest on the shore, massive life force was injected in like a hundred rivers returning to the sea. Everything around also turned into a Forest of All-Encompassing Illusions.

The suppression of the All-Encompassing Forest was only a beginning; brilliant golden dragon wings unfolded from behind Shi Quan.

Countless golden threads lightly merged with the Blue Silver Emperor Tree.

Devouring Golden Threads!

The Holy Dragon Eight Wings evolved, and its original devouring ability also became more powerful.

In the original work, Tang San's Eight Spider Lances could merge with the Blue Silver Domain to produce a skill like Devouring Golden Threads, let alone a soul bone that was even more compatible like the Holy Dragon Eight Wings.

The Blue Silver Domain was the innate domain of the Blue Silver Emperor Tree. Under the augmentation of the martial soul's own innate domain, the Blue Silver Emperor Tree itself immediately became thick and sturdy. The originally flowing soul power stagnated, and when those golden threads attached to the Blue Silver Emperor, all soul power loss stopped completely and directly began to blow the horn of counterattack!

Haixing Douluo was greatly shocked when he felt the change in Shi Quan's aura.

He could feel the terrifying pressure emanating from Shi Quan; this pressure caused his soul power mobilization to become sluggish. Not only was his ninth soul skill's devouring ability restricted, but the devouring ability of the surrounding vines had also surged.

Those golden threads felt like life-devouring poisonous snakes, making him feel terrified.

Feeling the soul power frantically flowing out of his body, Haixing Douluo's five tentacles could not help but twist and struggle, but his limbs had already been tightly bound by the Blue Silver Emperor Tree and could not break free at all.

"I lost."

Haixing Douluo's helpless voice came. Although unwilling, he understood that he was already powerless to resist.

However, he was not too sad either; after all, he already had four companions who were the same as him before.

"I concede."

The blue-gold light converged, the Blue Silver Emperor Tree's vines gathered rapidly, and a portion transformed into blue-gold light, merging into the surrounding forest.

Just now was not the limit of Shi Quan's devouring ability; he had not yet used the devouring ability of his Holy Dragon Eight Wings. Because of his powerful soul rings and soul bones, according to Shi Quan's assessment, his individual devouring ability was already enough to rival a Title Douluo of Level 95 or above. Shi Quan could not easily assess where the specific limit was; after all, every level of a Title Douluo's strength would have at least a twenty percent increase, especially for Spirit Masters above Level 95, where the change in strength was even more astonishing.
