Chapter 1248: This Is a True Event

Immediately after, Chen Yu curled his right hand and pointed at it from a distance. With a hiss, accompanied by a shrill, ear-piercing scream, this strand of black Qi vanished without a trace.

Except for Zhou Meng, the remaining few were stunned with fear. They stared at Chen Yu like wooden chickens for a long time, until Qiqi opened her mouth, about to let out a scream.

Chen Yu had known she would do this and quickly stepped forward to cover her mouth, preventing her high-pitched shriek from escaping.

"Find a quiet place, and explain this matter clearly," Chen Yu said.

With her mouth covered by him, Qiqi nodded weakly.

Only then did Chen Yu release her mouth. At this hour, if she were to scream here, she would likely attract a crowd of strange looks, and people who didn't know better would think she had been kidnapped.

"Teacher Chen, that thing just now... what exactly was it?"

In a quiet private room, Qiqi asked, still shaken.

In truth, regarding the scene just now, everyone except Zhou Meng had been nearly scared silly.

Zhou Meng was fine, as she had come out of the mountains with Chen Yu and had seen everything along the way; such a situation was not a big deal to her.

"This is a Malice," Chen Yu said. "If nothing goes wrong, your little script was adapted from a real event, and the person who sold the Rebirth Mantra script is certainly no ordinary person."

"These are all real?" Qiqi's face turned pale. "Oh my god..."

"Qiqi, what did the protagonist in the script experience? Tell me everything, detail by detail," Chen Yu said sternly.

"O-okay," Qiqi steadied herself and said, "It's like this: a girl fell in love with a man, and this man was already married."

"But he told the girl he would marry her, so the girl believed him. However, that man was a man of no integrity; his claim of liking the girl was merely to swindle her out of money and favors."

"His villa, luxury car, and promises for the future were all fake. He packaged himself as a 'tall, rich, and handsome' image just to swindle money and favors."

Qiqi said, "After the man got the heroine pregnant, he swindled all her money and abandoned her."

"The heroine swore to expose the man's ugly face, but later the man cried bitterly, repented, and expressed that he would definitely marry the heroine."

"That's a very cliché plot," Chen Yu's brows furrowed slightly. "Did the man deceive her in the end? And then kill her?"

"Yes, the man tricked her to an Urban Village, cruelly murdered her, and finally threw her into a Dry Well. Because he was afraid of the heroine's vengeful spirit, he used a Talisman to seal the Jingkou, intending to ensure the heroine could never undergo Reincarnation," Qiqi nodded.

"The thing you were supposed to do was find the place where the heroine was, then save her? And recite the Rebirth Mantra to send her to Reincarnation?" Chen Yu asked.

"That's right, Teacher Chen, that is the plot. In the story, the Urban Village where the heroine is located is a place with very complex terrain. There were frequent accidents during the previous demolition, so the project was suspended."

"It's like a maze inside. We were supposed to search all the way, finally find the well where the heroine is, and after uncovering the secret inside, send her to Reincarnation; then the story would be over," Qiqi said.

"The story is simple enough. If I'm not mistaken, this matter actually happened, and the heroine is indeed sealed in that well," Chen Yu said.

"Teacher Chen, then what should I do? Will she haunt me from now on?" Qiqi asked, somewhat nervously.

"Yes. I did indeed remove the Malice from your body just now, but her resentment has not dissipated. Even if I removed it temporarily, she will still come after you later," Chen Yu said. "And if the resentment is not removed, she will only harm people endlessly."

"Then what should we do, Teacher Chen?" The group panicked. Mengmeng was even more terrified, because someone in her dormitory had played this game a few days ago, but she hadn't been there that night.

If they had really played it, wouldn't they also be haunted by those things?

"There is no other good way. We can only go step by step to decode it now. You cleared the game's plot before and then recited the Rebirth Mantra on it, which is why the resentment is clinging to you," Chen Yu said.

"Ah, but how can we find her?" Qiqi exclaimed. "And my roommates are all missing now. Will they be in danger?"

"Can you contact them now?" Chen Yu asked.

"I can't. I called their phones this morning, and not one of them answered," Qiqi shook her head. "And I don't know where they are now."

"Then we can only start from elsewhere. Look to see if there are any Urban Villages awaiting demolition that were temporarily halted due to some incidents?" Chen Yu asked.

"I'll look online," Zhou Bin hurriedly took out his phone and searched for relevant content online.

Several girls also hurriedly took out their phones to look for news related to this matter.

"Found it! There is a detailed explanation of this matter on this forum," Zhou Bin suddenly shouted with pleasant surprise.

"The Northern Outer Ring Renovation Project was supposed to be completed last year, but accidents happened frequently inside, causing several deaths, so work was stopped."

Zhou Bin said, "That place is more than thirty kilometers away from here. Teacher Chen, should we go there and take a look?"

"Go there and take a look. Without eliminating the resentment of the deceased girl, it is impossible to lift the Curse," Chen Yu said.

Suddenly, people began to surge toward the direction of the school.

"Someone jumped off a building. I heard it's a junior girl from the Clinical Medicine department," someone said while rushing toward the school.

"Clinical Medicine department?" The faces of the group turned pale. Qiqi stood up abruptly. "Could it be one of our people?"

"Let's go take a look." Their expressions tightened, and they hurriedly stood up, following the crowd toward that direction.

The police had already arrived at the scene, and the surrounding area was cordoned off with police tape. A female police officer was leading a few people to investigate the scene.

The policewoman was none other than Xia Qing, whom Chen Yu had met yesterday.

"Captain, the scene has been sealed off. The coroner will arrive immediately. We are also pulling the victim's information at the first opportunity. Our colleagues are currently interviewing the girl's teachers and classmates and are trying to contact her family."

A police officer arrived at Xia Qing's side and asked.

"Good. Comfort the family members and find out as soon as possible whether the deceased committed suicide or if there were other reasons. Even if it is suicide, we must uncover the truth," Xia Qing said.

Although she was not old, she had spent a long time in the police force and was now a captain of the Criminal Police Team. She happened to be nearby when the incident occurred, so she arrived at the first opportunity.

Looking at this girl, she appeared to be about twenty years old, with long hair and a fair, clean complexion. She had jumped from the sixteenth floor and died on the spot.
