Chapter 1294: Take Care of Me from Now On

"Since you've come, you're one of us, don't be a stranger," He Yi said with a dash of feistiness.

"Alright, I understand. He Yi, I have to head to the company; Liu Zong has things to do this afternoon," Chen Yu said after looking around to familiarize himself with the surroundings.

"Don't be like that. It's already mealtime. I'll go cook, and you can leave after you've eaten," He Yi said.

"This... wouldn't that be inappropriate?" Chen Yu checked the time; he certainly had plenty of it, but he felt a bit embarrassed.

"There's nothing inappropriate about it. I'm also from Ruxi's hometown. Since you've come, we're family. Wait a moment, it'll be quick, it won't delay your work," He Yi said with a smile.

He Yi was a brisk person; she did what she said she would. She quickly put on an apron and began bustling about in the kitchen.

Chen Yu had originally felt a bit embarrassed and wanted to help, but she refused him.

In her own words, she had been cooking for decades, so she could handle it alone, and Chen Yu would only be in the way if he came in.

So, Chen Yu had no choice but to sit obediently in the living room and wait for her to finish cooking.

In less than half an hour, He Yi had finished making a few small dishes.

Four small dishes and one soup; the food looked excellent and tasted quite good, too. Chen Yu ate several large bowls of rice with them.

Although he was in the Entering the Dao Realm and could go without eating grains, he was human after all and couldn't control his own mouth.

"He Yi, the food you make is truly delicious," Chen Yu said, still wanting more. "I'm certainly in for a treat living here from now on."

"He Yi, let me help you clean up." Seeing her clearing things away, Chen Yu hurried to assist.

"You hurry off; don't delay Ruxi's affairs. Let me handle chores like this," He Yi said with a smile.

Chen Yu felt helpless; this auntie was too enthusiastic. He could only nod and say, "Alright then, He Yi, I'll be going first. Thank you for today."

He drove all the way to the company, arriving at one-thirty. Liu Ruxi had a partnership to handle today.

Just as he arrived at the company, Li Zong sought Chen Yu out: "Chen Yu, come over here for a moment. I have some things to say to you."

Chen Yu was slightly taken aback, not knowing what it was about. He followed Li Zong into her office.

Li Zong sat down in the office, her legs crossed. The sight of her fair legs made Chen Yu feel a sudden flush of heat.

"Where are you looking?" Li Zong tapped the table, her expression somewhat stern.

"Li Zong, what did you want to see me about?" Chen Yu quickly averted his gaze.

He hadn't touched a woman in many days and was having some wandering thoughts, but Li Zong was truly beautiful, and she possessed a mature allure.

"Did you move into Ruxi's house?" Li Zong asked.

"Yes, she gave me a half-day off this morning, so I moved over," Chen Yu was stunned. Did Li Zong not know about this?

"She would invite you to live in her home?" Li Zong felt it was somewhat unbelievable. "Are you sure?"

"I'm sure, it's true," Chen Yu gave a bitter smile. "It was Liu Zong who asked me to move in. I can swear to it."

"It is impossible for her to let a man live in her own home," Li Zong said through gritted teeth. "What exactly have you said to her, or what has happened between the two of you?"

"There's really nothing. It's just that a few days ago, I encountered an annoying investor. I taught him a lesson and then took her away."

Chen Yu smiled. "Perhaps she feels that I can protect her, so she asked me to move in after she returned. I can swear that everything I've said is true."

Li Zong remained silent. After a long while, she raised her head and said sternly, "Chen Yu, I don't know who you really are, and I don't know what your purpose is in approaching her, but I will warn you once: it is best not to harbor any crooked thoughts toward her."

"What kind of crooked thoughts could I have?" Chen Yu looked helpless. "Li Zong, I really am just an employee. I have no other intentions. Please don't overthink it, okay?"

"You are not an ordinary employee," Li Zong said coldly. "Chen Yu, do you really think I wouldn't investigate your past?"

"So, what did you find out?" Chen Yu smiled. His identity wasn't something just anyone could investigate; the things Li Zong found were merely fake identities that Dragon Breath had set up for him.

Moreover, this woman might not have the capability to uncover his past; she might not even be able to find the fake identities.

Li Zong was stunned. She had originally just wanted to bluff Chen Yu, but she hadn't expected him to not fall for her trap.

She gritted her teeth and said, "We will be living in the same place from now on. There are some things you must be mindful of; you are not allowed to harbor any crooked thoughts."

"What crooked thoughts would I harbor?" Chen Yu glanced at her, waiting for her answer.

"Don't you men know what kind of crooked thoughts you have?" Liu Ruxi sneered. "In the past, many rich second-generation heirs tried every possible way to get close to Ruxi. I don't think I need to say much about what they were after."

"You don't need to say it; I understand what you mean," Chen Yu said. "And I am just an ordinary employee, so the 'crooked thoughts' you speak of are non-existent for me. I only want to work hard and earn money."

"So, Li Zong, please rest assured. I will conscientiously complete my assigned work, and I will also help with things outside of my duties."

"But I will not harbor any crooked thoughts. Please be one hundred percent assured of that."

"You had better mean what you say." Li Zong stared at Chen Yu; she was trying to keep him in check.

After all, there were three women living in that villa, and she knew all too well what men thought about all day long.

That was why she was giving Chen Yu a warning before he moved in, to let him know his place.

But she hadn't expected that Chen Yu didn't seem to buy into her act at all, and now she was the one feeling somewhat passive.

"You can be one hundred percent assured; I mean what I say," Chen Yu replied indifferently, then turned and left the office.

"You..." Seeing Chen Yu's attitude, she couldn't help but feel a bit angry.

But what made her even angrier was that Chen Yu actually had such a cold and indifferent attitude toward her. Even though she was over thirty, she was still a goddess-level figure.

Was Chen Yu not moved at all? This was different from the men she had encountered before.

However, since Chen Yu had already taken this stance, she couldn't be bothered to argue. She just hoped this guy was telling the truth and wasn't a two-faced scoundrel.

"Chen Yu, have you moved over?" Liu Ruxi called out to Chen Yu.

"I've already moved over. Did you not tell He Yi beforehand?" Chen Yu turned his head to ask.

"I forgot to notify her," Liu Ruxi said.

"With your 'I forgot,' I nearly got hit by a brick from her," Chen Yu said with a hint of resentment.

He Yi looked kind on the surface, but there was a fierce streak deep down in her bones.

If an ordinary person had just walked into Liu Ruxi's home, they certainly would have been hit by a heavy brick from her. Although Chen Yu had escaped that disaster, he still felt a lingering fear when he thought about it.
