Chapter 1639: You Harmed Them

~7 min read 1,204 words

"It is your method that simply cannot solve our problem." A look of anger appeared on Noda's face: "Chen Yu, it was you who caused those three to die."

"Is that so? Are you sure?" Chen Yu glanced at Noda coldly: "Then why don't you call the police and have me arrested?"

Noda sneered. He took a step back, and immediately, several men in black suits appeared behind him.

These men had upright postures; one could tell at a glance that they were trained, and they possessed an extraordinary aura, likely coming from a special department.

"Alright, you were prepared early?" Chen Yu smiled slightly: "If your people hadn't come, I wouldn't have been able to be sure if this was your doing, but now I can be certain that this is a frame-up targeting me."

"Chen Yu, because of you, three of our infected patients died. You must take responsibility for this matter," Noda said indignantly.

"As if they would have survived if I hadn't intervened. How many infected patients have you lost now? Don't you have any idea in your own mind?" Chen Yu glanced at him.

"Our official death toll is currently zero. If they had been brought to our official treatment point earlier, they wouldn't have died," Noda said with an angry face.

"Official?" Chen Yu almost laughed: "The current death toll has already exceeded double digits, hasn't it? Your 'official' side is just as untrustworthy as your character."

"Save those words for our Freedom Court, you murderer." Noda took a step back, and the few men in suits behind him stepped forward.

"Chen Yu, we are members of the Special Action Group. You are suspected of practicing medicine irregularly, leading to the death of infected patients, so you must come back with us now." One of the men in suits flashed the identification in his hand and reached out to grab Chen Yu's shoulder.

"Stop." Chuan Naizi stepped forward in time and grabbed one of Chen Yu's hands. She said to Chen Yu sincerely: "Leave this matter to me to handle."

The sharp glint in Chen Yu's eyes slowly faded. He nodded slightly and took a step back: "Fine, I'll give you face and let you handle this. But you know I don't have much patience; if it isn't handled well, I won't be polite."

"Don't worry, I will handle it well." Chuan Naizi nodded, then she walked forward and said sternly to the two men: "Mr. Chen was invited by my father to assist, and he is also an expert appointed by the Huaxia side. If you have any questions, report them to my father, Chuan Nai Ye."

"Miss Chuan Naizi, we belong to the Special Action Group. In principle, we are not under the jurisdiction of any member of parliament; we only take orders from the Special Action Group," one man said.

"Then whose orders were you following when you came to take Mr. Chen away?" Chuan Naizi countered.

"Mr. Yamamoto Masao."

"Since you are not under the jurisdiction of any department, why do you follow his instructions?"

"Because Mr. Yamamoto pointed out that Chen Yu's presence would cause problems for our virus control," one man replied: "And his actions led to the death of three infected patients. This is a very serious matter, so he must come with us and accept an investigation."

"What evidence does Yamamoto Masao have to prove that these men died at the hands of Chen Yu?" Chuan Naizi asked.

"These people died after being treated by him, so this matter is inseparable from him," one man said.

"The people who were treated by Chen Yu had already clearly improved. If it weren't for observation, they could have been discharged today. During the time they were kept in isolation for observation, who had contact with them? What did they eat? What did they drink? Did anyone tamper with anything? On what grounds do you say they were treated to death by Mr. Chen?" Chuan Naizi said angrily.

"You came running at the mere word of Yamamoto Masao. What, is his word more authoritative than the Prime Minister's?"

Chuan Naizi's words made the men shudder in alarm. This was a heavy accusation to pin on them. The Special Action Group was an independent department and would not listen to anyone's orders. Chuan Naizi had successfully diverted the topic.

"Miss Chuan, we are just following the rules," one man still tried to argue.

"Then take out your arrest warrant. If you can't produce one, get out," Chuan Naizi said sternly, pointing outward.

The men looked at each other. Honestly, if this weren't a public place, they would have used force long ago.

But the identity of the woman before them was not ordinary. Her background involved factional struggles, which was not something a few members of a Special Action Team could resolve.

Chen Yu couldn't help but admire Chuan Naizi. As a Detective, her logical thinking was clear, and she spoke with reason and evidence, leaving these men speechless.

Just as they were at a stalemate, the leading man received a phone call. He bowed toward the other end of the line, continuously saying yes.

After finishing the call, he waved his hand helplessly and said: "We are withdrawing."

Although his other companions didn't know what had happened, since their leader ordered a withdrawal, they had no choice but to comply.

As the men left, Noda couldn't help but panic. He called out: "But, what about here?"

No one answered him, which made Noda feel awkward. Immediately, he became deeply worried.

After all, this was a matter of him picking a side now. Chuan Naizi and Yamamoto Masao clearly did not belong to the same faction.

He had chosen to stand firmly on Yamamoto Masao's side, but if the other party abandoned him after using him, what would he do?

"Doctor Noda, I will investigate this matter clearly. I hope that before I investigate, you can give me a satisfactory explanation," Chuan Naizi stared at Noda.

"What explanation can I give you? The people were treated to death by you, what does that have to do with me?" Noda felt it was incredible and spread his hands.

"What explanation I want, you know clearly in your own heart," Chuan Naizi smiled: "Don't forget, I am a Detective. In my jurisdiction, I have always maintained a high case-clearance rate."

"You don't really think my current status comes entirely from my father, do you?"

Cold sweat broke out on Noda's forehead with a start, and the way he looked at Chuan Naizi began to become unnatural.

No one knew the ins and outs of this matter better than he did. If Chuan Naizi really made up her mind to investigate, she would hit the mark every time.

But now he couldn't take the initiative to reveal the reason, because once he said it, he would surely die.

"Let's go," Chen Yu said indifferently, and left the hospital with Chuan Naizi.

"Noda has a problem." The first thing Chen Yu said after leaving the door was this.

"Yes, I also think he has a problem," Chuan Naizi gritted her teeth: "I will definitely investigate this matter clearly."
