Chapter 165: Five Elements Pavilion
"How am I supposed to cooperate with you?" Ren Zhenghao asked, looking up after glancing at the credentials and understanding the situation.
"Just take us to the scene; leave the rest to us. My name is Yan Yue, and this is Feng Yuanlong," the woman said indifferently.
"Chen Yu, what do you think?" Ren Zhenghao looked toward Chen Yu.
"What we've encountered this time is very likely a Blood Fiend; it's very troublesome," Chen Yu said, implying more than his words stated. "I have to follow, because I find the other party's modus operandi vaguely familiar."
"Are you saying the two of us can't handle it?" Feng Yuanlong stepped forward, tilting his head to stare at Chen Yu. "I have a bad temper. You'd better take back what you just said, otherwise..."
As Feng Yuanlong spoke, he unleashed his Divine Sense, intending to give Chen Yu a taste of his power.
Feng Yuanlong was a member of the Esoteric Sect with strong Mental Power. Under normal circumstances, his unleashed Divine Sense would make people tremble with fear and retreat with pale faces.
He had intended to teach Chen Yu a lesson, but unfortunately, he overestimated his own ability this time.
"Otherwise, what?" Chen Yu raised his head and glared back.
With a hum, Feng Yuanlong felt his scalp tingle as a Divine Sense several times stronger than his own rebounded against him. He let out a muffled groan and took several steps back, his face deathly pale, his blood churning in his chest, nearly spitting out a mouthful of blood.
"This friend, please show mercy." Yan Yue gave a light shout and stepped forward, blocking in front of Feng Yuanlong. "So you are a fellow practitioner; excuse my rudeness just now. We are here to resolve the matter and have no ill intent."
"If this were an ordinary person, his mental shock just now would likely have caused them to vomit blood and damage their spirit," Chen Yu said calmly. "Possessing Mysterious Arts and understanding yin and yang, one should be even more in awe of ghosts and gods and strictly adhere to the Heavenly Dao."
"This ability of yours is meant for upholding justice and exorcising evil, not for you to throw your weight around in front of ordinary people."
"What right do you have to lecture me? Kid, who is your master? Do you know who I am?" Feng Yuanlong said angrily.
"I don't know who you are. What, you're not convinced? Why don't we spar?" Chen Yu sneered.
"You..." Feng Yuanlong was furious and stepped forward, ready to strike.
"Senior Brother, if you do this again, don't blame me for notifying Master," Yan Yue shouted. "Master sent us down the mountain to gain experience, not to throw our weight around."
The originally aggressive Feng Yuanlong couldn't help but shiver involuntarily. He quickly said, "Junior Sister, I'll listen to you."
"There's no time to lose, let's go," Yan Yue said.
At the funeral home, the person in charge and the night-shift security guard stood to one side, trembling; they were badly frightened.
Especially the security guard, who was burly and thick-necked, looking extremely fierce; he was the type who feared nothing. Anyone who worked the night shift in a place like this was no pushover.
But now he was scared deathly pale; it was clear he had encountered something terrifying.
"All unauthorized personnel, leave at once." Yan Yue ignited several pieces of Talisman Paper with her right hand and threw them on the ground, forming a circle of fire. "Walk across the fire circle."
"Quick, quick, everyone leave. Everyone, I'll leave this place to you." The funeral home manager seemed familiar with these procedures and hurriedly ushered everyone to leave the area via the fire circle.
"Corpse Fiend." Chen Yu looked at the fiendish aura inside the funeral home, his brows knitting together.
"We haven't even seen anything yet, how can you be so sure it's a Corpse Fiend?" Feng Yuanlong looked at Chen Yu with displeasure; he would go against Chen Yu whenever he had the slightest chance.
"Believe it or not, it's up to you. I never said I had to make you believe me." Chen Yu couldn't even be bothered to look at him.
"Kid, if I weren't on a mission today, I would really teach you a lesson." Feng Yuanlong stared at Chen Yu.
"Don't use the mission as an excuse. If you want to spar, now is as good a time as any. With your level of strength, you'd only have to run if you met a Corpse Fiend. I'd rather take you down early to avoid you dragging others down inside," Chen Yu laughed.
Feng Yuanlong stared fixedly at Chen Yu, contemplating whether to burn bridges and have a big fight with him.
"Alright, Senior Brother, you stay outside and keep watch. I'll go in with Mr. Chen to check the situation." Yan Yue's brows also knitted together. "Judging by the aura, it is indeed a Corpse Fiend."
"Junior Sister..." Feng Yuanlong felt a lump in his chest; his junior sister really didn't give him any face at all.
"If you put half the effort you spend on eating, drinking, playing, and chasing girls into your cultivation, you wouldn't be struggling to even step into the threshold of the Mystic Dao," Yan Yue glanced at him.
"This position is a yin spot. If the Corpse Fiend tries to escape later, it will inevitably pass through here."
Chen Yu dropped a few pieces of Talisman Paper, formed an array, took out an Apricot Yellow Array Flag, and handed it to him. "Just guard this place well."
"Fine, fine..." Feng Yuanlong had no choice but to nod and stay behind.
"We're going in. Keep your people far away. No matter what sounds you hear later, do not come out," Chen Yu said to Ren Zhenghao.
"Alright, I understand." Ren Zhenghao also felt stifled. He was, after all, a leader among the younger generation in the Fengling police force, but now he felt somewhat like he was running errands for others.
After giving instructions, Chen Yu and Yan Yue walked inside. The further they went, the heavier the yin energy became.
"Mr. Chen, it seems this thing is only one step away from becoming a Blood Fiend. What kind of person in Fengling could refine such a vicious creature?" Yan Yue asked, somewhat alarmed.
"There is one, but I'm not sure." Chen Yu frowned. A Corpse Fiend only forms if someone refines it.
The people who kidnapped Xu Siying last time should be related to that mysterious person, including the Blood Coffin dug up at the construction site with Xia Tian and Huang Yiqiang, and the Puppet that feeds on marrow encountered with Ning Ruoxue; they should all be the work of one person.
If that is the case, then it can be basically confirmed that this mysterious person was hired by Du Feng. His nephew died at Chen Yu's hands, so Du Feng must be unwilling to let it go and thus brought someone in to deal with Chen Yu.
"There's a problem here." Passing by a morgue, Chen Yu felt an unusual aura coming from inside.
The two pushed the door open and entered, only to see five or six corpses lying in the morgue. These bodies had been brought in during the day, waiting for an auspicious day for burial. The corpses were covered with white cloths, and the room's lighting was extremely dim, appearing somewhat eerie.
Suddenly, the sound of fingernails scratching against a wall came from behind them, followed immediately by an extremely strong fiendish aura from behind their backs.
The two turned around abruptly to see a person wrapped entirely in black clothing walking slowly toward them. Their fingernails were fully half a foot long, and the tips emitted a dark, shiny glow.
As they walked slowly, their fingernails clawed at the wall, causing the concrete to crumble and fall.
They suddenly raised their head, a powerful fiendish aura radiating from their body, while a silent roar emanated from their throat.
"Corpse Fiend." The two were startled.
Yan Yue grabbed with her right hand, and a Dharma Mirror appeared in her hand. The Dharma Mirror she held was quite old, its frame made of peach wood and imprinted with a Bagua pattern; it was the very nemesis of such evil things.
