Chapter 1668: Wait a Moment
Chuan Naizi had originally fallen into a groggy sleep, but a phone call from Chen Yu made her instantly wide awake.
"Wait a moment, I'll be there right away." Chuan Naizi hurriedly put on her clothes and went out, arriving at Chen Yu's location in less than a moment.
Looking at the few corpses on the ground and the pile of dust on the floor, she felt completely unwell.
"What on earth is going on here?" Straightening her hair, Chuan Naizi tried hard to sober herself up; the alcohol had just kicked in, and her mind was a blur—even if she could hold her liquor, it was no use.
"I ran into a ghoul as soon as I went out; this woman was dragged here all the way from somewhere else," Chen Yu said. "As for these two, they courted death themselves; no one else is to blame."
"What about the ghoul?" Chuan Naizi asked.
"Right here," Chen Yu pointed to the pile of ash on the ground. "I used a bit of force, so it turned into a pile of ashes. This thing looks fierce, but in the eyes of us Dharma Cultivators, it really doesn't amount to much."
"You killed it?" Chuan Naizi felt somewhat speechless. "Why didn't you capture it alive?"
"This thing has no consciousness and no emotions, so there's no point in catching it," Chen Yu said. "So don't dwell on whether it turned to ash; you handle the situation here."
"Also, there is an important matter you need to pay special attention to."
"What matter?" Seeing Chen Yu's expression was somewhat serious, Chuan Naizi immediately became earnest as well.
"The guy in front of us belongs to the Squad-Level; it's a bit different from ordinary heart-eating ghouls. They don't just eat hearts; they eat heads and flesh, they aren't picky eaters," Chen Yu said. "So now we must quickly find the source and eliminate it, only then can we prevent future trouble."
"But the virus issue hasn't been completely resolved yet." Chuan Naizi's brows locked even tighter; one wave after another, and the first hasn't even subsided. The virus issue is at a critical point, and now this kind of thing has appeared here—is this even letting people live?
"That's why you need to pay more attention. Agree to my conditions as soon as possible; once you agree to my conditions, within three days, I guarantee the virus in your country will be controlled," Chen Yu said.
"Chen Yu..." Chuan Naizi was so angry she stomped her feet. "Don't you think it's excessive to take advantage of a crisis like this?"
"Excessive?" Chen Yu laughed. "When your officers burned, killed, and looted in our land, was that not excessive? When your soldiers pointed bayonets at defenseless old people, women, and children, was that not excessive? When you took away our national treasures, was that not excessive? Now that I make such a small request, you think it's excessive?"
"That is a historical issue; you cannot lump them together," Chuan Naizi tried to argue.
"Is a historical issue not an issue? Are the things in history not things that actually happened?" Chen Yu stared at Chuan Naizi and said, "When something happened here, I stood by and watched, and you could resent me; but for the millions of lives in our Huaxia, who should I go to?"
"I..." Chuan Naizi stopped mid-sentence. Yes, the events didn't happen to her, so she didn't know the pain, but as a member of the victimized nation, Chen Yu felt the pain truly and deeply.
Therefore, he had no way to treat those things as if they had never happened, and by comparison, the requests Chen Yu made were not too excessive.
"Alright, I've made the call and fulfilled my responsibility; you handle the rest yourselves," Chen Yu said indifferently, then stood up and turned to leave.
"Chen Yu, stop right there." Chuan Naizi was startled and called out to Chen Yu.
At this hour, leaving her standing here alone made her feel a bit afraid.
"I have scanned the surroundings with my Divine Sense; there is no danger here, so rest assured, nothing will happen," Chen Yu said.
"I... am a little scared." Looking at the corpses on the ground, Chuan Naizi felt a bit timid.
Yes, the corpses before her eyes either had a bloody hole in their chests or were headless. Even as a Detective who had seen many dead people, seeing these individuals now still made her feel terrified.
Coupled with the fact that it was so late, and the occasional eerie cries ringing out in the surroundings, it gave one a hair-raising feeling.
So now she was a bit afraid and had to swallow her pride to ask Chen Yu to stay and keep her company for a while; otherwise, she feared she would collapse before her own people arrived to rescue her.
"Fine, I'll stay with you for a while." Seeing that it was very late and truly feeling unable to bear leaving a girl alone on the side of the road, Chen Yu nodded and agreed.
It wasn't until a group of Detectives arrived that Chen Yu stood up and left.
After handing over the situation, Chuan Naizi turned her head only to find that Chen Yu had already disappeared. She couldn't help but stomp her feet in anger; was she really that annoying to him? Was he not even willing to stay a little longer?
Helplessly, she took out her phone and dialed Xingzi's number: "Aunt, something happened on my end."
"What is it again?" The overwhelmed Xingzi felt a tightness in her heart. She had been in agony over the recent virus issue, and hearing Chuan Naizi say there was another problem made her feel afraid.
"The heart-eating ghoul has appeared here again, injuring three people, and according to Chen Yu, this heart-eating ghoul has evolved again," Chuan Naizi said seriously. "Aunt, we cannot hesitate any longer; the matter ultimately needs a decision."
"One wave has not subsided, and another rises." Holding the phone, Xingzi was speechless for a long time, and finally, she sighed and said, "Is the sky of our Yamato... about to collapse?"
"Aunt, my ability is insufficient; I cannot help you," Chuan Naizi said sadly. "We can only pin our hopes on Chen Yu, so... please agree to his conditions."
"I will immediately send an urgent message to the higher-ups to convene an emergency meeting; wait for my news," Xingzi gritted her teeth and finally made the decision.
"Thank you for your hard work, Aunt; I'll wait for your news." Chuan Naizi nodded heavily.
The night passed without incident. Early the next morning, Chen Yu received a call from Chuan Naizi: "Chen Yu, my aunt wants to see you."
"How is it? Has she talked to the higher-ups?" Chen Yu asked with some surprise.
"We've talked; over seventy percent of the requests have been agreed to. She has brought our officials to personally go to Chinatown to coordinate some details with you," Chuan Naizi said. "Get ready; we will arrive in about an hour."
"Good, I'll wait here." Chen Yu agreed immediately. He hung up the phone and turned to wake Qishu up.
"What is it, Mr. Chen?" Qishu was still bleary-eyed early in the morning and was at a loss after being woken up by Chen Yu.
"The autonomy conditions we proposed have been agreed to by the other side, though they only agreed to seventy percent of the requirements," Chen Yu said.
