Chapter 1703: I'm Not Interested
"Very well, your answer will cause the rest of your teammates to lose their lives." Chen Yu shrugged helplessly and turned to leave.
"Chen Yu, what are you doing? Are you leaving?" Chuan Naizi was startled; she suddenly looked up at Chen Yu.
"Your answer left me speechless, so I think it's better if I just stay in the office," Chen Yu said, shaking his head.
"So you came out just to humiliate me a few times?" Chuan Naizi's temper flared up, and she glared at Chen Yu in anger.
"Not exactly, I have no interest in humiliating you," Chen Yu said indifferently. "It's just that I thought after so many of your teammates died, you would have learned a lesson by now. But unfortunately, you haven't learned anything."
"You are very paranoid and stubborn. As long as you think you are doing the right thing, you never change your perspective. So, a person like you is not worth my help."
"After all this time, you still haven't considered me a friend?"
Chuan Naizi felt it was unbelievable; she had always felt that her relationship with Chen Yu was already very good, and she had always assumed they were friends.
But this sentence from Chen Yu hurt her deeply; she truly could not understand why Chen Yu did not consider her a friend.
"A friend? Perhaps, but that is no reason for you to act recklessly," Chen Yu spread his hands. "As for your situation, I'm afraid I'm powerless to help."
"You..." Chuan Naizi was furious, but in front of Chen Yu, she had no way to act. She glared at him, hoping he would see reason and help her, but she also knew that was basically wishful thinking.
"Alright, no need to look at me with that expression," Chen Yu said. "Find a way to resolve your own affairs. Once you've settled them, I will naturally help you resolve the rest."
Chuan Naizi picked up her gun and left in a rage. Chen Yu grinned, turned around, and went back to the office to enjoy his leisure.
In a corner of the basement, Murakami Ye was huddled with a few people.
Beside them lay more than a dozen corpses; the way these bodies had died was extremely miserable, looking too ghastly to behold.
"Murakami-kun, what should we do?" a Detective asked tremblingly.
They had no options left now, and having watched their own team members die one by one before their eyes, honestly, only they knew the feeling of that panic.
"As long as we stay together, she can't do anything to us," Murakami Ye said through gritted teeth. "I don't believe in ghosts in this world. She must be someone taking revenge on us. Hmph, playing tricks—she won't have a good end."
"But... she truly exists," a Detective muttered. "Our people really are dying one by one before her eyes. That can't be fake, right?"
"So what? We weren't afraid of her when she was alive, so should we be afraid of her now that she's dead?" Murakami Ye raged. "Xiaodao-kun, go outside and see what the situation is."
The Detective named Xiaodao gripped his service weapon tightly, but he lacked the courage to step out.
"I am giving you an order, did you not hear me?" Murakami Ye was furious. Had his words become useless now?
"I'm sorry, Murakami-kun, I... I don't dare to go." Xiaodao tried several times; he had even stepped out, but in the end, he shrank back. He shook his head; for the moment, he could not overcome the fear before him.
"I am your superior. Can't I even get you to do a small thing? Go now, immediately!" Murakami Ye was enraged.
"Detective Murakami, I'm afraid I cannot carry out your order," Xiaodao thought for a moment, then shook his head again. "First, I don't know what we are facing out there, so I refuse."
"Secondly, the grudge of that female ghost seems to be directed only at you. So even if someone goes, it should be you. Perhaps if you go out, the female ghost's grudge will dissipate."
"Do you know what you are saying?" Murakami Ye was furious. He grabbed his gun and pointed it at Xiaodao. "I'll ask you one thing: are you going, or not?"
"I am very sorry, I cannot carry out your order." Xiaodao slowly shook his head. Instead of stepping forward, he took a step back. "We police officers have regulations. In times of danger, we must first ensure our own safety. I refuse to carry out your order."
*Click! * Murakami Ye chambered a round in his gun and, without hesitation, aimed it at Xiaodao. "You dare defy my order? I'll kill you right now."
"Murakami Ye, this whole thing was caused entirely by you!" Xiaodao couldn't help but flare up. He shouted, "So many people have died, and it's all because of you! Don't you have even a shred of guilt?"
"You, and you—are you really willing to be controlled by him and go to your deaths one by one?"
The two people beside Murakami Ye looked at each other. It was true; they were indeed Murakami Ye's subordinates, but in the face of this situation, what were they supposed to do? Were they really supposed to just die?
Moreover, they had just seen Murakami Ye send their colleague to his death. Now there were fewer and fewer people around him; were they afraid that in the end, they too would be betrayed and used as his scapegoats?
"Shut up! You are a Detective, you must obey my orders. I am your superior!" Murakami Ye roared.
"You all saw his behavior just now. In his eyes, we are nothing more than tools to be sent to our deaths. He is the one in the wrong, and the vengeful spirit is looking for him. Why should we stay here and die with him? Why?" Xiaodao was emotionally agitated.
The other two were swayed. It was true; the person the female ghost wanted was not them, but Murakami Ye. If Murakami Ye died, they might survive. Were they really going to die with him, or be thrown out as human shields?
"Baka! Shut up!" Murakami Ye was furious. His hand moved, intending to shoot Xiaodao.
"You'd better stop," a cold voice came at that moment. It was Chuan Naizi who had appeared.
"Chuan Naizi, mind your own business," Murakami Ye raged. "We only have a better chance of survival if we send someone out to scout the situation."
"But they didn't have to die in the first place. Why should they listen to you?" Chuan Naizi stared at Murakami Ye. "You selfish thing, you've already implicated so many people. Do you want to keep going?"
"I don't care! In any case, I cannot die. I must live on, I must be the last one alive!" Murakami Ye shrieked hysterically. "Chuan Naizi, I warn you not to meddle in my affairs, otherwise, I won't be polite to you either."
