Chapter 180: Mysterious Spirit Contract

~7 min read 1,364 words

"You have become calculating, obsessed with schemes, and incredibly greedy, willing to stop at nothing to get everything you want."

"For money, you can drift between different men, using your own bodies to please those men to get what you want."

"But have you ever thought about it? Your parents brought you into this world, raised you to adulthood, and sent you to school to enter society so that you could stand tall, not so that you could use your own bodies to please men."

"If they knew, how heartbroken would they be?" Chen Yu stared at her and said, "You have your own ideas, and I won't say much more, but you had better behave yourself; you won't be this lucky every time."

Xu Siying curled up under the covers, watching Chen Yu push the door open and leave, her tears falling in large drops.

Leaving the hotel, he checked the time; it was exactly twelve o'clock, the hour of Zi.

Chen Yu pondered for a moment, then drove toward the suburbs.

In front of a Graveyard, Chen Yu got out of the car.

He took a deep breath, shifted his hands through several Dao Seals, and finally wiped them across his eyes.

His Double Pupils flashed, and before his eyes, a black and white world appeared.

He saw that in the night sky, countless wisps of black Qi were circling and dancing around; from time to time, these black wisps would transform into strange faces in mid-air, looking extremely terrifying.

Since he had promised to help Liu Chengye find his daughter, Chen Yu had to use some unconventional methods.

In this situation, he could only use an unconventional method like "Mysterious Spirit Pathfinding."

The so-called Mysterious Spirit refers to certain lonely souls; Chen Yu had come to this Graveyard specifically to catch a lonely soul to take back and use as his own Mysterious Spirit.

Once a contract is established with a lonely soul, it can be driven by you; then, by taking some of Liu Chengye's blood, one can send the Mysterious Spirit to find someone who possesses the same bloodline as Liu Chengye.

Of course, this method is not one hundred percent guaranteed to succeed, and the range the Mysterious Spirit can sense is limited; even if it senses the same father-daughter bloodline, it only points to a general direction, and the rest still requires slow searching.

Although the chance of finding her was less than one-third, Chen Yu had to try regardless.

Chen Yu's Divine Sense was emitted, and the countless Spirit Bodies that had turned into lonely souls felt the Primordial Qi radiating from Chen Yu and scattered in avoidance.

Because the Spiritual Power on Chen Yu was too powerful, these lonely souls were all afraid, but as the saying goes, curiosity killed the cat; there were always one or two who weren't afraid of death and wanted to get close to Chen Yu to see what kind of person he was.

A mass of black Qi approached Chen Yu; this one was a hotheaded youth. He circled Chen Yu a few times, then suddenly lunged directly in front of him, his form flickering as he transformed into a green-faced, fanged appearance, opening a bloody maw at Chen Yu.

As long as these things haven't turned into evil spirits due to Resentment, they generally won't cause harm to people; he just wanted to simply scare you.

However, normal people would be scared out of their wits upon seeing these things. This lonely soul had scared people before and found it fun, so he was repeating his old trick, turning into this just to see Chen Yu scared half to death.

Unfortunately, he had played with fire this time.

Chen Yu opened his eyes, revealing a hint of a strange smile; the poor guy was still foolishly staring at Chen Yu, not even knowing to hide.

"Are you not afraid of me?" Seeing that Chen Yu had no intention of dodging, the guy couldn't help but ask.

"What do you think?" Chen Yu smiled slightly.

The guy was stunned. He had been a lonely soul for over a hundred years and was already an old hand, but he had never seen someone who wasn't afraid of ghosts at all. Just as he was puzzled, two apricot-yellow Talisman Papers suddenly lit up out of thin air.

Within these two Talisman Papers, there was a faint, awe-inspiring majesty. The guy let out a shriek and turned to run, but unfortunately, he was a step too late.

The two Talisman Papers formed a Yin Yang Taiji Pattern on the ground, trapping him firmly inside; no matter how desperately he struggled, he couldn't escape.

Chen Yu pointed with his right hand and sealed him into a Brocade Pouch: "You'll do."

"What are you doing? Let me go! Help, a ghost is being kidnapped! Help!" The guy began to scream hysterically inside the Brocade Pouch.

"Go ahead and scream. Even if you scream until your throat breaks, no one will save you," Chen Yu sneered. "If you dare to spout any more nonsense, believe it or not, I'll burn you to ashes with a single fire."

"Gr-Great Immortal, I have never done anything harmful in my life. I just simply like to scare people; I really have no malicious intent. I beg you to let me go!" The guy screamed inside the Brocade Pouch.

But the Brocade Pouch was covered in Talismans, and he curled up into a tiny ball, not daring to even breathe loudly.

"What is your name?" Chen Yu asked.

"A-A Fu," the guy stammered.

"How old are you?" Chen Yu asked.

"I-I can't remember... I-I've probably been wandering here for decades, always a lonely soul."

"Be my Mysterious Spirit," Chen Yu said straightforwardly.

"What? Be your Mysterious Spirit? That's impossible," A Fu raged. "I've heard from some old folks—bah, old ghosts—that being a Mysterious Spirit is a disgrace. We are treated like servants by you people, ordered around here and there."

"They might have some misunderstandings about Mysterious Spirits. How about this: I won't restrict you for too long. Three years as a term. After the three years are up, if you want to leave, I'll let you go, or I can help you transcend. How does that sound?" Chen Yu thought for a moment.

"No way. You humans are too cunning; I don't believe your words," A Fu raged. "Besides, I've been a ghost for so long, and I feel free and unfettered. Why should I go back to being a human?"

"You've been a ghost for so long that you're addicted?" Chen Yu looked at A Fu, feeling a bit depressed. "Seriously, I've never seen someone as stubborn as you. Are you really not going to do it?"

"Not doing it."

"Then I won't be polite," Chen Yu said coldly.

"Still not doing it. A scholar can be killed but not humiliated," A Fu wore an expression of 'what can you do to me?'

"Fine, just you wait." Chen Yu placed the Lucky Bag on the ground, turned, and went to his car. He took a slaughtered chicken from the trunk, started a fire, and began to roast it right in front of him.

When it was almost roasted, Chen Yu untied the Lucky Bag and let him out.

A Fu was dressed in clothing from the Republic of China era; he looked like a young and handsome fellow.

"Why did you let me out?" A Fu looked at Chen Yu.

"You can go. If you don't want to do it, forget it. I won't force you," Chen Yu waved his hand.

"Really? You aren't plotting some kind of scheme, are you?" A Fu looked disbelieving.

"Do I look like it?" Chen Yu glanced at him and continued roasting the chicken in his hand.

Now the chicken in his hand was almost roasted, golden and dripping with oil. Chen Yu sprinkled on cumin and chili seasoning, then tore off a chicken leg and ate it with great satisfaction.

A Fu, to the side, was drooling; seeing the roast chicken in Chen Yu's hand, his saliva almost poured out.
