Chapter 1829: Do As You Please
"Regardless of whether you believe it or not, I have already done my utmost." Jin Ling's voice rose slightly, and she scanned the room coldly: "What kind of person is Chen Yu? I think you should all be clear about that in your hearts."
"A person like him will not reason with you; reaching this point is the greatest effort I have seen."
"Heh, then I really have to thank you. Look at what you have secured for us—everything our Jin Clan has now was not easily won; are we to just hand it over to others now?" Jin Gui asked angrily.
He had the most intense reaction; on one hand, he had long coveted the position of Head of Family, and on the other, he was truly unwilling to let go of the power in his hands.
"I have already done my utmost; believe it or not, that is up to you. If any of you do not agree with what I have said, you can go find Chen Yu right now and settle it," Jin Ling said, having reached the end of her patience.
"But you must be clear: of Wang Ye's old subordinates, only we remain now, and he has never been a kind soul either. I am doing this to protect myself as well."
"Heh, screw your 'protecting yourself'." Jin Gui was already cursing, and he sneered: "I said long ago that letting a woman hold the reins of the Jin Clan was a mistake in itself."
"Look at what she has led us to do all these years; our Jin Clan is getting worse year by year, and now we have to bow down to others—does everyone think this is reasonable?"
"Unreasonable."
"Then what does everyone say we should do?"
"Make Jin Ling step down from the position of Head of Family."
"Right, that's correct, make Jin Ling step down from the position of Head of Family."
A group of people suddenly began to clamor as if they had been injected with adrenaline.
"Shut up! Jin Ling has not had it easy all these years. If not for her, our Jin Clan would have failed long ago. It may not be as good as before, but at least we are still together and have cohesion," an old man shouted.
"That's right, Jin Gui, don't think we don't know what you are plotting in your heart. You have always coveted the position of Head of Family, but look at yourself—do you have the qualifications?"
The Jin Clan was now divided into two factions, and the room immediately became chaotic; one side supported Jin Ling and were her absolute loyalists.
The other side wanted to drive her from her position, and the two sides were arguing incessantly; some had even drawn blades.
"Enough." Jin Ling suddenly slammed the table heavily: "Everyone stop."
The dignity of the family still existed; her action caused the room to fall silent immediately, though the two sides glared at each other, finding each other unpleasant to look at.
"Jin Gui, if you think you can do better than me, then this position of Head of Family is yours to take. I, Jin Ling, will withdraw from the Jin Clan starting today and will no longer manage any of the Jin Clan's affairs."
Jin Ling suddenly drew the ancestral Nine-Ring Broadsword and thrust it heavily into the floor.
Crack! Sparks flew from the floor, and the broadsword sank half a foot into the ground.
Seeing Jin Ling bring out the ancestral Nine-Ring Broadsword, everyone shut their mouths.
"But I still want to make it clear: the power dynamics in Chinatown have already changed; it is not the same division of power as before."
"An'er has taken over Milan Street, and from now on, this place is under his jurisdiction. This is no longer a place where you can act recklessly. Whether you accept it or not, the fact remains."
"Then we also do not accept the establishment of the Chinese Association." Jin Gui sneered: "Even if Chen Yu comes, it won't work. If he dares to come, I will let him taste the power of our Nine-Linked Ring Broadsword."
"Then where is your sword? Why don't you take it out?" A cold laugh suddenly came, and immediately following a flash of a figure, Chen Yu appeared in the room.
Chen Yu's appearance was too sudden, causing everyone in the room to panic.
After a burst of commotion, the room finally quieted down.
"Mr. Chen, I am currently trying my best." A look of panic flashed in Jin Ling's eyes.
She knew that Chen Yu had already lost his patience; if Chen Yu started a massacre, the Jin Clan would turn into a slaughterhouse.
At that point, no one would be able to save themselves. Unfortunately, these clansmen of hers still had not seen the situation clearly; they thought they had the strength to contend with Chen Yu.
"I know, but your clansmen do not seem to agree with your statement. Since they do not agree, then I will use my own method to solve the problem," Chen Yu said indifferently.
"But..." Jin Ling wanted to say something more, but was interrupted by Jin Gui at the side.
"Heh, kid, you are Chen Yu? It's been all the talk on Milan Street these past few days, describing you as having miraculous skills. Seeing you today, I feel you are nothing more than this."
Jin Ling stopped speaking; she looked at Jin Gui and sighed slightly. She looked at Jin Gui's eyes as if she were already looking at a dead man.
"I don't have an extra head compared to others, nor do I have three heads and six arms," Chen Yu said indifferently: "I am just like you, two shoulders carrying one head."
"Hmph, Jin Ling already conveyed your thoughts to us just now." Jin Gui sneered, shouldered his own specially made broadsword, and said in a rough voice: "We do not agree with your proposal."
"The Chinese Association cannot be established. If it must be established, let our Jin Clan be the president; otherwise, our Jin Clan will not submit."
"Actually, at this point, whether your Jin Clan submits or not is no longer important, because the majority of people have already nodded," Chen Yu said leisurely: "And some discordant voices have already completely disappeared."
"Are you sure you still want to go against me?"
The tone in Chen Yu's words already carried a sense of threat; he wanted to give the Jin Clan one last chance.
Unfortunately, Jin Gui was purely a fool with developed limbs and a simple mind.
The sword in his hand was raised abruptly, and then he slashed at the solid wood table in front of him. Crack! The table in front of him was split into two halves.
His slash was incomparably fierce, and the specially made broadsword weighed over ninety catties; if this guy used brute force to swing it, he could keep a dozen burly men from getting close.
"Chen, the Jin Clan does not submit to you." Jin Gui sneered: "Why don't we spar? I don't believe you are as omnipotent as the rumors outside say."
"You are nothing more than someone who borrowed An'er's power to wipe out some forces on Milan Street. I don't believe you can stir up any trouble in the Jin Clan."
"You want to spar with me?" Chen Yu looked at this guy in surprise; this fellow truly did not know how to write the word 'death'.
"That's right, do you dare?" Jin Gui shouted.
"There is nothing I don't dare to do." Chen Yu walked to the center of the room: "Come down."
Jin Gui lifted the pitch-black broadsword in his hand, then leaped up and jumped into the center. He held his broadsword horizontally and stared at Chen Yu, asking: "Where is your weapon?"
"To fight you, I still need a weapon?" Chen Yu almost laughed. This guy was indeed powerful in the eyes of ordinary people, capable of taking down several people alone, but in his eyes, he was just scum; he could wipe him out with a single finger.
