Chapter 1963: No Need for Discussion

~7 min read 1,205 words

"Heh, you mean you don't agree?" A hint of a smile appeared on Samuer's face, though his smile was somewhat ferocious.

"It's not that I don't agree, but that there is simply no need for discussion," Xueli sneered. "How many years has it been? There have been no shortage of people like you who vainly attempt to hold religion in their own hands."

"But you must make one thing clear: our Pope represents the True Lord, and it is impossible for us to be manipulated by you people in power."

"So, you are exactly what all those in power fear most. You shackle the thoughts of the believers, and with a casual stir, you can make them charge at us in a frenzy," Samuer sneered. "That is why you must be controlled by us."

"Samuer, there is actually one thing I don't understand," Xueli said, looking up at him.

"What is it you don't understand? Speak," Samuer said.

"Previously, we always adhered to the relevant agreements and maintained a balance between us. But now, if things really go as you say, our balance will certainly be broken," Xueli said. "What is the reason that makes you so impatient to push things in a bad direction?"

"Heh, because I can't wait. I am old; if I don't take control of you now, I'm afraid I won't have the chance," Samuer sneered.

"But why must you insist on taking control of us?" Xueli asked.

"Because you control their thoughts. You tell them to go east, and they dare not go west," Samuer said with a smile. "With your power, I could do whatever I want."

"Money, influence, and even a woman as high and mighty and holy as you would all be under my command. Who wouldn't want such power?"

"So that's the devious idea you've been harboring. I can tell you directly: impossible," Xueli said coldly. "The power in our hands is granted to us by the Pope; we only transmit the spirit of the True Lord."

"Theocracy can indeed allow one to do as they please, but we will not. I also advise you to give up this idea as soon as possible."

"Xueli, who will be the final destination for a woman like you?" Samuer clenched his fist tightly and slammed it heavily onto the table. He said coldly, "If you haven't experienced a man yet, I don't mind being your first."

"Is that thing of yours still working?" Chen Yu, who had been listening from the side, finally could not bear it any longer.

This old thing was so old that half his body was already in the grave; how could he still be thinking about such things every single day?

"What did you say?" Samuer turned his head abruptly, his eyes staring fixedly at Chen Yu.

As an old lecher, the thing he was most sensitive about was others bringing up his performance in that regard.

"I said, you're at such an age, does that thing of yours still work at all?" Chen Yu sneered. "It's probably like dry firewood by now, isn't it?"

"At your age, instead of enjoying your twilight years at home, you cling to the power in your hands. Do you really think you're still in your youth?"

"You are... courting death." Samuer's eyes were almost turning red. He stared at Chen Yu; if he were young and strong now, he would probably have already pounced on Chen Yu to tear into him.

"Oh, sorry, I accidentally spoke the truth," Chen Yu said with some apology. "But Samuer, that feeling of having the heart but lacking the strength must be hard to bear, right?"

"Kill him, Zhamusi! Are you an idiot? Why are you just standing there? I want you to kill him!" Samuer was so angry he rolled his eyes.

Zhamusi moved his hand, about to step forward, but was stopped by An'er: "Zhamusi, I advise you best not to move."

"On what grounds?" Zhamusi retorted angrily. "Get one thing clear: whose side I am on right now."

"We know you're a dog. Now that your master is so angry his lungs are about to explode, it's only natural you'd want to step up to help him, but we advise you to be a bit more cautious," Kaza also walked up and said. "This is Mr. Chen."

"What kind of bullshit Mr. Chen? If he dares to offend Mr. Samuer, he has to die," Zhamusi said furiously. He walked up, handed over a gun, and said in a subservient tone, "Mr. Samuer, you can finish him off yourself."

In his rage, Samuer didn't even think; he took the gun directly.

He pointed the gun at Chen Yu: "Now I'll give you a chance. As long as you kneel down and admit your mistake to me, I will leave your corpse intact and let you go quickly."

"Otherwise, I will let you know what a true Demon is. Believe me, I mean what I say."

"Before this, has no one ever challenged your authority?" Chen Yu smiled slightly; he did not take this guy's threat to heart.

"Heh, challenge my authority? Do you know who I am? What kind of person would have the guts to challenge my authority?" Samuer laughed loudly.

Then he said in a fit of pique: "Only an idiot like you would provoke me and court death."

"Now I will make you regret your actions; I will make you understand how wonderful your life used to be," Samuer said, pointing the gun at Chen Yu's head.

He turned his head and said: "Zhamusi, I remember there is a technique passed down from Chinatown called 'Lighting the Sky Lamp,' right?"

"That's right, Mr. Samuer, there is such a technique. I even spent a long time specifically studying it," Zhamusi bowed slightly and said in a respectful tone.

"Heh, that's perfect. Now you will use that method on this guy. I want him to die in agony," Samuer sneered, speaking in an extremely cruel tone. "You should learn more things in the future, like death by a thousand cuts."

"I just love it when the lowest trash in society wails and begs for mercy, only to be tortured to death in the end."

"Yes, Mr. Samuer, I'll go do it right now. As you ordered, I'll 'light the sky lamp' on this guy." Zhamusi sneered and walked forward to grab Chen Yu.

However, in the next second, Samuer's hand tightened, but the gun that had been in his hand inexplicably fell into Chen Yu's hand.

"What do you want to do? I have three thousand armed private soldiers outside. If you dare to touch Mr. Samuer, I guarantee I will raze this place to the ground," Zhamusi was startled.

"If I let him go, will you spare me?" Chen Yu asked.

"That's impossible. There is only one outcome for offending me," Samuer roared. "Only death can appease the anger in my heart."

"So, according to you, I'm dead either way, so why should I let you go?" Chen Yu looked at him with disdain. "If I let you go, you won't let me go anyway, so why shouldn't I use a 'mutually assured destruction' tactic now?"
