Chapter 289: School Problems

~8 min read 1,406 words

The delivery driver shouted at the top of his lungs for the delivery of so-and-so from such-and-such class, holding a stick while passing the food inside.

"Does the school not have a cafeteria?" Chen Yu turned his head to ask.

"Of course it does, but the school cafeteria's food doesn't taste very good nowadays, so this phenomenon is quite common," Lin Yunzhu said with a bitter smile.

"Young man, does the food in the school cafeteria taste bad?" Chen Yu walked to the side of the fence and asked a student who was reading while waiting for a delivery.

"The school cafeteria?" The student looked up at Chen Yu and said, "To sum it up: it tastes terrible, the portions are small, and it's ridiculously expensive."

"Then if the cafeteria food tasted good, was cheap, and had large portions, would you be willing to eat at school?" Chen Yu asked again.

"Of course I would. Ordering deliveries and waiting for them every day takes up a huge amount of my time. If the school cafeteria were run well, I could save a lot of time."

"I remember that Chaoxing Group provides subsidies for the high school cafeteria. Because the seniors are preparing for the college entrance exam, their nutrition must be guaranteed. Why is it like this?" Lin Yunzhu asked.

"Subsidies? They were probably all swallowed up by Li Dazui. That guy is a hooligan, and the school cafeteria belongs to his relative, otherwise it wouldn't be this bad," a student interjected.

"That's right, Li Dazui is truly evil," another student said indignantly.

"The security guards are coming, run! If you get caught, you'll have your credits deducted," a sharp-eyed student saw several security guards walking toward them, and with a 'boom', the students inside the fence scattered in all directions.

The delivery drivers also hurriedly packed up their things and left; those who were a bit slow had their items knocked to the ground by the security guards.

"There is a problem inside, let's go in and take a look," Chen Yu's face sank slightly.

The two of them slipped into the school and arrived at the cafeteria.

The school cafeteria was actually quite nice; the exterior was built very well, but it was currently mealtime, and there were very few students eating inside.

Chen Yu went to a serving window and saw that the dish inside was white radish; it looked like radish boiled in clear water, without even a trace of oil.

The other options were stir-fried bean sprouts, and greens with tofu. It was hard to find a meat dish, which turned out to be potatoes stewed with chicken chunks. Not to mention the small portion of chicken, the chicken feathers that hadn't been cleaned off properly were enough to make one feel nauseated.

The staple food window on the side had rice and steamed buns. The rice was slightly yellow and had visible grit in it; it definitely wouldn't taste good.

Moreover, Chen Yu touched a steamed bun with his hand, and it was frighteningly hard.

"Are you buying or not? If you aren't buying, don't touch things randomly," the middle-aged woman serving the food said viciously.

"Classmate, how is the food?" Chen Yu asked a female student nearby, who was eating while reading a book.

"It's awful," the girl shook her head, "but there's no choice, I want to save some time."

"Why not eat outside?" Chen Yu asked.

"The school doesn't allow us to go out, doesn't allow us to order deliveries, and strictly forbids parents from bringing food. Who would dare to violate the rules set by Li Dazui?" The girl said helplessly, "Some students bring food in the morning, but the school searches from time to time, and if they find it, they throw it away."

"He will change it," Chen Yu nodded, turned his head, and walked into the kitchen.

After entering the kitchen, he was even more shocked; he truly didn't know what words to use to describe it other than dirty, messy, and poor.

A pile of moldy steamed buns, half a crate of sprouted potatoes thrown on the floor, and the entire kitchen was flowing with sewage and reeking of a foul stench.

Just then, the food delivery arrived, and a crate of rotten vegetables passed right before Chen Yu's eyes.

Lin Yunzhu didn't say a word; she picked up her phone and took a few photos of the scene.

"What are you doing? What are you doing? Who let you take pictures here?" Suddenly, a fat man wearing a chef's uniform with a face full of jowls rushed out holding a ladle.

"Are you the person in charge of the cafeteria? Perfect, I have to ask you: is this the kind of stuff you feed the students?" Chen Yu pointed at the sewage flowing on the ground, "Is this the level of hygiene in the cafeteria?"

"And these are the vegetables you just had delivered; they've rotted like this. Are you sure they're still edible?"

"Where did this trash come from? Do we need you to manage how we do things?" The fat man beckoned, and people immediately surrounded them.

"We are..." Lin Yunzhu stepped forward to reveal her identity, but was stopped by Chen Yu.

"Let me handle it," Chen Yu said calmly. He walked forward and asked, "Who is in charge of the cafeteria?"

"I'm in charge, so what?" The fat man held a ladle in one hand and smoked a cigarette with the other, spitting as he spoke, "Are you trying to stir up trouble? I'm telling you, this cafeteria belongs to Director Li of the school. I advise you not to bring trouble upon yourself; Director Li's nephew has a lot of influence."

"Even if he is Director Li's, he can't just do whatever he wants. This is food for the students. Rotten vegetables and stinking meat—can you take responsibility if they get sick from eating this?" Chen Yu said coldly.

"None of your damn business, this little bit of stuff won't kill anyone," the fat chef pointed his ladle at Chen Yu and said viciously, "If you're smart, delete the photos and get lost immediately, otherwise you won't be walking out of this school gate today."

"What will be the consequences if I don't delete them?" Chen Yu countered.

"Lao San, clear the area and lock the doors. Someone is here to stir up trouble today," the fat chef waved his hand.

"Got it, Second Brother. Everyone out, stop eating!" Several chefs drove the students who were eating in the cafeteria out.

Then, *click*, the doors of the cafeteria were locked, and more than ten people walked out from the back kitchen. These people were kitchen helpers or cooks, and they were carrying kitchen knives, looking aggressive.

"Kid, since you won't cooperate, then we'll play with you today and see if your bones are harder, or if the bone-chopping knife in my hand is harder," the fat chef sneered.

"Are you really this lawless?" Chen Yu said coldly, "This is a school, and the students are at an age where they are growing. How dare you act so recklessly?"

"Haha, lawless? Director Li is our relative, and he is the major shareholder of the school cafeteria. Even the principal doesn't dare to say anything. What kind of thing are you to dare to point fingers here?" The fat chef laughed loudly.

"So that's how it is," Chen Yu suddenly realized. It turned out this Director Li, Li Dazui, had some influence; he controlled everything in the school that could make money. He was the major shareholder of the cafeteria, no wonder they dared to be so arrogant.

"Kid, I advise you to be smart, delete the photos, and don't bring trouble upon yourself, otherwise you won't even know how you died," the fat chef grinned hideously.

"Sorry, we really have to see this matter through to the end. You want me to delete the photos? If you have the ability, come over here," Chen Yu smiled.

"Kill him, Lao Er will take responsibility if anything happens," the fat chef was furious. He swung the steel ladle in his hand and charged toward Chen Yu.

Backhanding and snatching the steel ladle from his hand, Chen Yu swung the ladle toward the fat chef's head.

*Puff*, with one strike to the head, the fat man collapsed to the ground.
