Chapter 359: A Little Lesson
"This is a little lesson for you, so you don't go around ignorant of the immensity of heaven and earth, and get beaten up once you truly step into society in the future," Chen Yu said coldly.
"Is it over?" Lu Ruxue walked over, still shaken.
"It's over, just a bunch of small-time thugs. I've already made the call; the car to pick you up will be here soon," Chen Yu said.
"That's good." Lu Ruxue finally breathed a sigh of relief, then she gave Chen Yu a somewhat annoyed look.
Last night, the two of them slept in the same bed, yet Chen Yu didn't even touch her once, and he even slept very soundly—is this man a block of wood?
Suddenly, the door was kicked open from the outside with a bang, and a muffled voice came through: "Who is causing trouble in my shop? Tired of living?"
A large man appeared at the doorway with five or six thugs, looking quite menacing.
"Brother Wei, this is the person who came to our hotel to cause trouble. Look at what he did to me," the female attendant cried out as she lunged toward him as if she had seen a savior.
"Friend, what kind of matter can't be resolved that you had to resort to violence?" the large man stared at Chen Yu.
"Ask her yourself about the specifics," Chen Yu said indifferently. "If a hotel has this kind of troublemaking attendant, there will be more trouble in the future."
"What's going on? Speak," the large man also knew what kind of person this receptionist was and couldn't help but glare at her.
"Brother Wei, it really has nothing to do with me, I..." the female attendant panicked.
"It's early in the morning, what are you doing appearing in a guest's room with people?" the large man asked.
"I, I was just..."
"Still holding a camera? Are you insane? Last time you helped someone film an affair, my shop was almost smashed. You still haven't changed?" Seeing her stuttering, the large man understood instantly.
He couldn't help but be furious: "Drag her out for me, teach her a good lesson. She's always filming guests' privacy—after the lesson, tell her to get lost."
"Yes, Brother Wei." Several large men hauled the attendant out and also carried away the few people on the floor.
"Sorry about that, this is a lapse in my management. I will compensate you for your losses," the large man's attitude was actually quite good.
"Just make sure the photos don't leak out. Is your surname Li?" Chen Yu looked at the large man, feeling somewhat familiar.
"That's right, Li Wei. Is your surname Chen?" the large man stared at Chen Yu for a long time, unsure.
"Haha, I am Chen Yu. You're from the Yaoshan area back home, right?" Chen Yu finally confirmed this guy's identity.
Li Wei, a local bully in the village when they were young, who could beat up kids older than himself until they had no power to fight back.
Later, he said his family had matters to attend to and moved away; he didn't expect to meet him in this small county town.
"Haha, it's actually you! I said you looked familiar—we used to go down to the river to bathe bare-assed together when we were kids," Li Wei laughed heartily and gave Chen Yu a bear hug.
"I didn't expect it either, that you'd be here," Chen Yu laughed.
"The one inside is your wife, right? Truly beautiful. Come on, Chen Yu, it's been so many years. Since you're here today, I must treat you well," Li Wei didn't pay attention to Lu Ruxue inside.
He didn't follow celebrities, so even if he looked closely, he likely wouldn't recognize her. With an old friend meeting, his mind was entirely on Chen Yu.
"Chen Yu, I have to go back, otherwise the people over there will be worried to death," Lu Ruxue said.
"It's fine, I've already made contact, the car to pick you up will arrive soon," Chen Yu laughed. "You go back and report that you're safe first; I'll stay here and catch up with an old friend."
"Alright then, I'll head back first," Lu Ruxue nodded.
Li Wei was a rough and careless man. He was doing quite well in this county town now, with several hotels, two large restaurants, and managing a KTV; he was considered a person of status in this small county.
"Haha, see that, Chen Yu? This restaurant, the foot massage parlor next to it, and that KTV over there are all my turf. You know the boss of the county, Zhou Erba? He's the boss I follow; that guy is really something, he has connections over in Fengling," Li Wei brought Chen Yu to his restaurant.
To be fair, this guy's character was actually not bad, he just liked to brag, but one thing was one thing—his businesses in the county were indeed quite good.
"Not bad, not bad. It's been so long, I didn't expect you to be so successful already," Chen Yu laughed heartily.
"What about you, Chen Yu? Where are you making your fortune now?" Li Wei asked.
"I'm just scraping by in Fengling," Chen Yu smiled; he didn't have the heart to discourage Li Wei.
"Fengling is good, it's a big city after all. Haha, I plan to develop in Fengling in the future; a county is just a county, it's boring," Li Wei said cheerfully. "Let's go, let's eat. After we eat, I'll take you to see my turf."
It must be said that Li Wei was truly a person of status in the county; no matter where he went, everyone would respectfully call him Brother Wei.
Chen Yu walked around with him, and by the time they finished eating, it was noon. Li Wei received a call, then laughed: "Chen Yu, let's go, I'll take you to meet our county's boss, Zhou Erba. He has people in Fengling; if you have any trouble there in the future, he can put in a word."
Originally, Chen Yu didn't want to go, but he could see that Li Wei held his boss in high regard, so he followed him.
In the largest club in the county, with decent decorations, Chen Yu met this county-level big shot, Zhou Erba, in the largest private room.
"Brother Ba, let me introduce you. This is my brother, Chen Yu, who does business in Fengling. Brother Ba has acquaintances in Fengling, so I'll have to ask for your care in the future, Brother Ba," Li Wei said respectfully.
"Mm, easy enough," Zhou Erba smoked his cigar without even looking at Li Wei.
"Haha, that's good, thank you in advance, Brother Ba," Li Wei's face was full of smiles.
"But Li Wei, favors and face have their limits. Last time you asked me to handle something for one of your subordinates, you already owed me a favor. Let me give you a piece of advice: don't stick your neck out for every trivial matter. If you do that, you'll overdraw your favors."
Zhou Erba blew a smoke ring and lectured: "When making friends, you must make friends who are helpful to you. Like this friend of yours, he's just an ordinary businessman, right? There's no need to introduce him to me."
"Brother Ba's lesson is well taken, but this is my buddy, a real buddy. We used to bathe bare-assed in the river together when we were kids," Li Wei said with a somewhat embarrassed expression.
"Alright, I know. What's your name?" Zhou Erba then glanced at Chen Yu sideways.
"My name is Chen Yu, hello Brother Ba." Chen Yu nodded. He still had to give Li Wei face; although the guy's posturing made him feel somewhat annoyed, he endured it.
"Mm, easy enough. If you run into any trouble in Fengling in the future, just report my name. I have acquaintances there, and they are big shots too," Zhou Erba glanced at Chen Yu sideways with an arrogant look on his face.
"Thank you, Brother Ba," Chen Yu said in a lukewarm tone.
"Brother, I told you, Brother Ba is the most loyal. If you have any trouble in the future, just report his name. He is the boss here, and his name is just as effective in Fengling," Li Wei laughed.
