Chapter 663: Not Treating Oneself as an Outsider
"Remember this person; from now on, she is not to be allowed into any of our venues," Zhang Peng instructed his bodyguard.
"Yes, Young Master Zhang," the bodyguard nodded.
After leaving, Wang Ling sat in a business car and wept, covering her face.
As she cried, she used a mirror to touch up her makeup, but the makeup she applied was washed away by her tears; finally, she smashed the cosmetics in her hands all over the floor.
"Why is my Life so bitter? Why?" Wang Ling wailed. "Not long after I married that useless thing, your father, the Yu Clan fell into decline. From then on, I've been looked down upon—my own family looks down on me, and my husband's family has no ability."
"I raised a daughter with such difficulty, pouring my heart and soul into giving her the best of everything. What was it all for?" As Wang Ling spoke, she suddenly raised her head, clutched her chest, and shouted at Yu Sichen, who was to the side: "Yu Sichen, you tell me, what was it all for?"
Yu Sichen's eyes were hollow. Facing Wang Ling's theatrics, she said nothing. She knew clearly that this mother of hers was all drama; such tearful accusations and tragic scenes were not a first or second occurrence.
She was weary, she was tired, and a fire was slowly burning in her heart; she wanted to escape all of this.
"Speak! Why aren't you saying anything? You had plenty to say when you were with that man earlier, didn't you? Who do you think I did this for?" Wang Ling shrieked.
"For yourself, for your own glory and wealth, and for the sake of reviving the so-called Yu Clan." Two flames suddenly ignited in Yu Sichen's eyes. "Honestly, I've had enough of days like this."
"You... what did you say?" Wang Ling looked at Yu Sichen in disbelief. She never imagined these words would come from the mouth of her once-submissive daughter; she was utterly shocked.
"Is there anything you don't understand that needs me to explain?" Yu Sichen smiled. "Honestly, I have never felt like a person. For over twenty years, I have existed only in the image of a tool."
"What kind of talk is that? Didn't I give you the best? The Yu Family is in decline now, but your father and I scrimped and saved to raise you like a young lady of a noble house. Do you think we would harm you? Have all the efforts we've made over these years gone to the dogs?" Wang Ling was truly about to explode; she felt her daughter was not right.
"Is that so?" Yu Sichen smiled. "The only thing you and he have done for me in this life is give birth to me. I thank you for bringing me into this world, and I thank you for letting me understand what despair is."
The flames in Yu Sichen's eyes grew more intense, and a wisp of black Qi, invisible to the naked eye, suddenly rose and swirled around her. The Wooden Carving pendant at her neck emitted a faint, dim light.
A cold, heartless face formed from the black Qi hovered around Yu Sichen, devouring her negative emotions.
The half-face of the Wooden Carving pendant tied around her neck seemed to have gained an expression; it was smiling...
Yu Sichen had seen him, and Chen Yu did not want to stay here either. He greeted Zhang Peng and left. Honestly, his mood was quite complicated; he had seen Yu Sichen and noticed that her situation was not very good.
This girl was truly very good, and Chen Yu had the intention to save her and help her escape her sea of suffering, but he felt somewhat powerless. After all, the ones pressuring her were her own parents; this matter could only depend on her.
Just after leaving the club, Zhang Hu called, inviting Chen Yu over for a drink and to discuss the investment.
Chen Yu readily agreed, and after hanging up, he arrived at Zhang Hu's establishment.
Now that no one came here to cause trouble, business at Zhang Hu's establishment was getting better and better.
"Cousin, your business looks quite good," Chen Yu smiled.
"This is all thanks to you, Cousin," Zhang Hu laughed heartily. "Honestly, before you came, I had a major inspection every three days and a minor one every two. Either the police were checking the post, or the fire department and other departments were looking for trouble."
"As soon as those people came, I would definitely have to suspend business. You don't know how much that affected business; mainly, with so many inspections, the customers stopped coming," Zhang Hu complained to Chen Yu.
"How is it? Have you considered the matter of the club?" Chen Yu sat down and clinked glasses with Zhang Hu.
"Xiao Yu, I was just about to discuss this with you. I've already chosen the location for the club and have been in contact with the people there. I've also greeted Young Master Huang, and he said it's no problem," Zhang Hu said. "It's just that your one hundred million really can't be spent all at once."
"If you can't spend it all, then start other projects. I'll just treat the money I put with you as an investment," Chen Yu smiled.
"You really are wealthy and imposing now," Zhang Hu gave a wry smile. "Fine, then I'll roll up my sleeves and get to work. With the remaining money from the club, I plan to acquire a few restaurants and make them high-end."
"That's good. The people view food as their heaven, and the money comes more naturally than in places like clubs," Chen Yu nodded.
"That's right. Honestly, in places like nightclubs, no matter how strict you set the rules, it's hard to avoid some shady business. If you want to do business properly, you simply can't make money that way," Zhang Hu said. "So I plan to do some legitimate business. Actually, I've already realized that walking the shady path is getting harder and harder. Several of the big bosses from before are now busy trying to wash their reputations clean."
"It's good that you can see this level," Chen Yu smiled slightly. "Go ahead and do it. Rest assured, you won't lose money."
"Good, then I'll go all out," Zhang Hu raised his bottle and clinked it with Chen Yu again.
Just at this moment, a voice came from the lobby: "Li Lu, Hu Ge is currently discussing business. You cannot go in; you really cannot go in."
Zhang Hu poked his head out from the second floor and saw his ex-girlfriend, Li Lu, whom he hadn't been in contact with for days, shaking off the hand of one of his subordinates and walking toward them aggressively.
"Huang Wu, have you grown some guts? You even dare to stop me?" Li Lu was impatient from being blocked, and she raged: "You are nothing but a dog raised by Zhang Hu. Even he has to listen to me, so what kind of thing are you?"
"Li Lu, Hu Ge has instructed that no one is to be disturbed, so please don't make things difficult for me," the subordinate named Huang Wu said, softening his tone.
Honestly, this woman used to have Zhang Hu wrapped around her finger; Zhang Hu was her lapdog. Although the two were currently at odds, what if they made up one day? So he didn't dare to offend her.
Moreover, Li Lu didn't consider herself an outsider; she used to think of herself as the mistress of the club, and she still did.
"Heh, haven't seen him for a few days, and Zhang Hu has grown some guts? More and more like a big boss? Can't even let people disturb him while he's drinking?" Li Lu said sharply. "In my eyes, he is just a poor country bumpkin. Even if his cousin has some ability, and even if we are at odds, believe it or not, if I beckon with my finger, he'll crawl over just like a dog."
"Li Lu, Hu Ge is the boss; watch your tongue." These words made even Huang Wu feel a bit uncomfortable.
