Chapter 694: Paying Medical Expenses
"Chen Yu, don't go too far. Don't think that I'm truly afraid of you," Liu Jingye said angrily.
"Either pay up, or I'll break one of your hands as payment. How about that?" Chen Yu said indifferently. "If you dare to step even half a step out of the club's door without my permission, I will break your dog legs today."
"You dare," Liu Jingye roared.
"You can try," Chen Yu stared at Liu Jingye, revealing a cold sneer.
Liu Jingye couldn't help but shiver. He read a hint of malice in Chen Yu's eyes, and he believed that if he dared not to do as Chen Yu said, his legs would really be broken.
"Young Master Liu, a wise man knows better than to fight when the odds are against him. Just endure it for now; we'll figure out how to deal with this brat later," Lu Shun whispered.
"One million," Liu Jingye took out a check, filled in a number, threw it heavily onto the ground, and then limped away.
"Young Master Liu, don't worry. My Wu Family will definitely settle this score today," Wu Xingguo roared in a muffled voice after stepping outside. "My Wu Family has never been bullied like this before."
"Brother Wu, I've implicated you today. I'll treat you to a drink another day, and we'll discuss properly how to deal with this brat," Liu Jingye gritted his teeth.
"Good," Wu Xingguo said, his face swollen, and he left angrily.
Watching Wu Xingguo leave, a thoughtful look appeared on Lu Shun's face. He turned his head and said, "Young Master Liu, what do you think of this brat Wu Xingguo?"
"A brute. If it weren't for the two Martial Ancestors in his family, I wouldn't play with him," Liu Jingye shook his head.
"Brutes are sometimes quite useful," a sinister smile appeared on Lu Shun's face.
"How so?" Liu Jingye looked at Lu Shun in surprise.
"Let's go, let's find a place and have a good chat," Lu Shun put his arm around Liu Jingye, whispering as they walked.
"Cousin, just call me directly next time this happens," Chen Yu said. "There aren't many good ones among these fops in Shengjing, but there's no need to fear them."
"Okay, I know, Xiaoyu. I only now realize how deep the waters are in Shengjing," Zhang Hu gave a bitter smile. "If it weren't for you stepping in to resolve this, it would be truly difficult to do business properly here."
"That goes without saying; this is Beijing," Chen Yu smiled slightly. "Cousin, I'll head back first. Call me if anything comes up."
After leaving the club, Chen Yu went back. The next day, he received a call from Zhang Peng.
"Mr. Chen, I'm afraid I have to trouble you to make another trip," Zhang Peng's tone was somewhat heavy.
"What, has your sister lost her soul again?" Chen Yu guessed the reason for Zhang Peng's call.
"Yes. For the past few days, she has been in the bedroom at home, not eating or drinking, just sitting there in a daze. Moreover, she is extremely afraid of seeing people; whenever she sees someone, she screams shrilly and won't let anyone get close," Zhang Peng said sorrowfully. "My family really doesn't know what to do, so they asked me to invite you."
"Alright, I'll be there immediately," Chen Yu agreed.
Zhang Peng's home was in a villa district. His home was a detached villa, and Zhang Peng's parents and grandfather were all there.
Zhang Peng was a second-generation official. His grandfather was in charge of the education department; although he had retired, he still frequently appeared in major news reports. His father, Zhang Zheng, now held an important position, and his mother, Wu Junyue, was a university president.
The old man and Zhang Zheng had both been in high positions for a long time and had a very strong presence. Upon meeting, they both appeared quite dignified. Wu Junyue looked very refined and was a highly educated, high-quality talent. In short, although the Zhang Family was not an Aristocratic Family, their family background in Shengjing was also very good.
"Mr. Chen, sorry to trouble you to come over again," Zhang Peng led Chen Yu inside. "Mom, Dad, Grandfather, this is Mr. Chen. It was he who brought me to rescue Yanyan that night."
"Mr. Chen, thank you. I see Yanyan's illness hasn't healed, and yet we've troubled you to make another trip," Wu Junyue stood up quickly, while Zhang Zheng rose to shake hands with Chen Yu.
The Zhang Family's old man, however, looked at Chen Yu with suspicion, then snorted and did not stand up.
This old man had been engaged in education for decades and was a materialist, so he never believed in any Metaphysics Master, let alone that there were ghosts and gods in this world.
It was only because his most beloved granddaughter's situation was a bit special, and having invited doctors and psychological experts without any effect, that he tacitly allowed Chen Yu to visit.
"Mr. Zhang, Mrs. Zhang, you are too polite. Zhang Peng and I are friends, so naturally, I will step in if there is trouble at home," Chen Yu smiled. "Take me to see her now."
"Good, good, Mr. Chen, please this way," Zhang Zheng nodded quickly and led Chen Yu toward the second floor.
There was a bedroom on the second floor, and the bedroom door was tightly locked.
The bedroom door was brown. When Chen Yu saw this door, he couldn't help but be startled. Immediately after, his brows locked tightly together, and he looked at the door with some confusion, as if thinking about something.
"Mr. Chen, is something wrong?" Zhang Zheng, who was about to push the door open, saw Chen Yu's expression change. He stopped quickly and looked at Chen Yu with some confusion.
"Don't open the door yet," Chen Yu's brows were tightly locked. He stared at the bedroom door, then slowly reached out his hand and pushed slightly on the door.
Following Chen Yu's push, a cold, sinister aura surged back from the door. He felt his palm turn icy cold. He quickly retracted his hand and looked at the bedroom door in shock.
On the bedroom door, a handprint appeared. This handprint was formed by water vapor, and then the water vapor gathered together and dripped down the door.
Chen Yu turned his hand over and looked at the hand he had just used to push the door. He saw that his palm had turned into a bloody handprint; his hand was covered in blood.
The three members of the Zhang Family couldn't help but be startled. Zhang Peng exclaimed, "Mr. Chen, what is going on?"
Chen Yu lowered his head and remained silent. After a long while, he raised his head and said, "Zhang Peng, besides the soul-loss state of not eating or drinking and being in a daze that I mentioned, does she have any other symptoms?"
"Other symptoms?" Zhang Peng was somewhat stunned, not understanding what Chen Yu meant for a moment.
"I mean tendencies for self-harm. Does she desperately pull at her own hair, bite her own body, and then use sharp objects to stab herself, as if this body of hers has some deep-seated hatred for her?" Chen Yu asked.
"Yes, yes. What is this, Chen Yu? Could it be that her condition isn't just soul-loss syndrome?" Zhang Peng asked in alarm.
"Of course not," Chen Yu's voice sank immediately. "Zhang Peng, has your sister done anything bad?"
"Her?" Zhang Peng was stunned. He couldn't help but look at his parents. To be honest, his sister had been spoiled rotten; her usual behavior was always self-willed. He really didn't know about this.
