Chapter 33: Old Classmate
After watching Zhou Tai leave, Xu Jing looked at Lin Yang in surprise.
"Everyone said you died in that fire six years ago; I never expected to see you again."
Facing his old classmate from six years ago, Lin Yang said.
"I happened to survive back then, and I've been drifting around these years."
Upon hearing that, Xu Jing chuckled.
"You're really modest—making a hundred million in six years; I'd be willing to drift too if I were you."
After saying that, she suddenly realized Lin Yang's situation back then.
Although her family isn't a big clan, they also run some businesses.
She had also heard about the major changes in the Lin family six years ago.
She stuck out her tongue and apologetically said to Lin Yang.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to."
Lin Yang waved his hand and said, "I'm not that sensitive."
Seeing Lin Yang say that, Xu Jing finally breathed a sigh of relief, her eyes shifting as she said.
"How about this: after I get off work, we'll have a meal together, which can count as catching up with an old classmate."
Although Lin Yang had originally intended to refuse, he couldn't withstand Xu Jing's repeated persuasion and reluctantly agreed.
"Okay."
After their conversation, Zhou Tai walked in laughing.
He smiled and said to Lin Yang, "Mr. Lin, your hundred million has already been deposited into your account."
"Xu Jing will be your financial manager from now on; if you have any problems, you can also come to me."
After some pleasantries, he personally saw Lin Yang out of the bank.
After Li Yang left, Zhou Tai looked at Xu Jing with a laugh.
"Xu Jing, I didn't expect you to have such a classmate; he and you are quite a match, aren't you?"
Hearing the implication in Zhou Tai's words, Xu Jing's cheeks flushed slightly as she said.
"President, we're just classmates."
Upon hearing that, Zhou Tai laughed heartily and said.
"We're still classmates now, but who knows what the future holds?"
Xu Jing's cheeks flushed; back when they were in school, she indeed had feelings for Lin Yang.
But back then Yuan Shu was always by Lin Yang's side, so she could only suppress those feelings in her heart.
After that fire six years ago, she was heartbroken for a long time.
I never expected to see Lin Yang today!
"Maybe it's really fate!"
Xu Jing thought to herself.
After getting off work, she immediately returned home, took off her bank uniform, and rummaged through her wardrobe for clothes.
During that time, she didn't forget to call Lin Yang and arrange to meet him for a meal at Hanle Pavilion.
On the other end of the phone, Lin Yang also found it somewhat unexpected to be eating at Hanle Pavilion.
"Looks like that place is still quite popular."
Lin Yang smiled, then left home and took the bus there.
When he arrived outside Hanle Pavilion, the phone rang.
"Lin Yang, I'm stuck in traffic—wait a moment for me."
"Okay."
After hanging up, he didn't go inside to wait; instead, he stood outside waiting quietly.
After waiting a while, a young man with a big pompadour walked out.
He walked up to Lin Yang, sized him up from head to toe, and asked with some uncertainty.
"Are you Lin Yang?"
Lin Yang looked at the man, also furrowing his brow as he asked.
"Who are you?"
Upon hearing that reply, the man burst out laughing and slapped Lin Yang's shoulder.
"It's me, Wang Song!"
Lin Yang recalled that this was his high school classmate.
Back then he was Lin Yang's lackey, considering himself Lin Yang's little brother.
However, Lin Yang knew that his behavior back then was entirely due to the Lin family behind him.
After all these years, he wouldn't think the other party would still treat him with the same respect as before.
"Wang Song, what a coincidence."
Seeing Lin Yang's indifferent expression, Wang Song curled the corner of his mouth.
"Lin Yang, I see you've been standing outside for half a day—are you planning to go in to eat?"
"I'm waiting for someone."
Upon hearing that, Wang Song felt deep contempt inside.
"Who waits for someone outside instead of going in? Are you trying to scare ghosts?"
He put his arm around Lin Yang's shoulder and said with a smile.
"Since you're waiting for someone, just wait inside—worst case, we can eat together later."
Lin Yang frowned, but he didn't directly rebuff him.
As they led Lin Yang to a table inside the shop, five or six youngsters all turned to look.
Wang Song smiled and said to everyone.
"Everyone, this is Lin Yang, my classmate—back in high school he was quite a big shot."
"Just now I saw him outside wanting to come in but hesitating, so I brought him in."
Upon hearing this, the men and women all burst out laughing.
"Looks like, after graduation, that big shot isn't doing so well either."
"Since you're friends with Brother Song, have a seat and eat together."
"But we've already eaten half our dishes, so please don't look down on them."
Lin Yang replied indifferently.
"No need, my friend will be here soon—then we'll go to a private room to eat."
"Friend, a private room?"
Wang Song gave a dismissive smile, thinking Lin Yang was making an excuse.
He patted Lin Yang on the shoulder and said.
"Lin Yang, you probably haven't been here before—right now all the private rooms are taken; otherwise, with my status, I'd definitely be in one."
Everyone laughed at that.
"Brother Song, it's normal for a first-timer here not to know the ropes."
Upon hearing this, Wang Song immediately clasped his hands before Lin Yang.
"Sorry, it was my mistake."
Although he was apologizing, his eyes were full of mockery.
He continued: "However, I'm telling the truth—if you insist on a private room, the staff will think you're looking for trouble and will kick you out."
"Also don't think about causing trouble—the boss behind this place is no pushover."
He had just finished speaking when Lin Yang's phone rang.
He answered, and Xu Jing's voice came through.
"Lin Yang, I'm here—where are you?"
"I'm inside the shop—come in."
Wang Song chuckled lightly and said: "You really do have friends, but getting a seat here isn't that easy."
Just as he finished speaking, Xu Jing entered, wearing a red long dress like a red rose.
The moment he saw Xu Jing, Wang Song was stunned by her beauty.
He immediately stepped forward, a happy smile on his face, and called out.
"Xu Jing!"
Xu Jing looked over, saw Wang Song, and seeing Lin Yang behind him, she couldn't help but smile.
In Wang Song's view, that smile was meant for him.
He walked up to Xu Jing, smiled, and extended his hand.
"Xu Jing, I never expected to meet you here."
Xu Jing didn't take his words, merely gave a polite smile, nodded, and said.
"What a coincidence."
Then she walked past him, taking small steps, and came up to Lin Yang.
"Lin Yang, sorry for making you wait so long while we were racing."
Lin Yang smiled and said: "At this point, taking the bus like me would be faster."
Wang Song, left standing there, seeing the two chatting and laughing, immediately felt his dignity slipping.
