279. Chapter 279: The Appearance of the Vampire Lanbo

The crowd immediately began to chatter in confusion, and it was clear the scene had already descended into chaos.

Aoweide waved his large hand, slammed it heavily onto the table, and used Spiritual Power to transmit his voice: "The most urgent priority is to ensure everyone's safety. Since he is not here, then ignore him for now and ensure the safety of others."

As his voice fell, Aoweide immediately began organizing the others to take cover. Su Chen and the others could not help much where they stood, so they could only watch quietly.

Just as everyone was proceeding in an orderly fashion, a loud boom suddenly came from the sky.

"I have arrived in person; let's see who dares to move now?"

The originally dim sky was instantly covered by a blood-red hue, with faint red lightning densely spread throughout. Following that, a giant bat spread its wings, blotting out the sky and sun, its blood-red eyes staring straight at everyone below.

No one present made a move. After a moment of silence, someone said in disbelief: "It's the fiend! How could he come here?"

As soon as those words were spoken, the others instantly panicked. The scene became extremely chaotic in an instant, and countless members of the Mermaid Race began to scatter and flee. The fear of being dominated by the fiend made it impossible for any of them to remain calm.

The oppressive feeling of impending death drove everyone to madness.

Aoweide stared with wide eyes, not understanding how this fiend had found this place.

After losing hundreds of strong, young men, their Mermaid Race had exhausted every means to find this location. Under normal circumstances, Lanbo would never have been able to find it.

Lanbo suddenly flashed in front of the mermaid who had just spoken, reached out, and snapped his neck directly.

"A fiend? I like that title. Then let me send you to hell."

The mermaid didn't even have time to struggle; his two eyeballs bulged round, and he finally collapsed limply to the ground.

"Whoever dares to move again, I will kill them first."

Lanbo nonchalantly stretched his neck, making a creaking sound. A chilling smile hung on his paper-white face, and his bright red lips looked exceptionally crimson, as if he had just finished drinking blood.

The other mermaids were instantly terrified into stillness.

Lanbo twitched his nose, and his gaze locked onto Su Chen in an instant.

"A human. It has been a long time since I've seen such a fragrant human."

He inhaled with a look of intoxication and revealed an ambiguous smile, his blood-red eyes staring straight at Su Chen as if looking at a grand feast.

Su Chen furrowed his brows and subconsciously moved to shield Natasha behind him.

"It is clearly not the Blood Moon Night; why do you not abide by the restrictions of the Blood Moon Night?"

Seeing this, Su Chen could not help but ask.

Hearing this, Lanbo acted as if he had heard a massive joke.

"The rules are set by me. I come out whenever I want to. In the Western Wasteland, the strong are respected."

As his voice fell, Lanbo looked coldly at Su Chen, "Here, I am the rule."

Despite these extremely arrogant words, not a single person present could refute him.

"How did you find this place?"

Aoweide asked in disbelief.

One must know that they had wasted the lives of many mermaids to hide here, and only by relying on the power of the Universe Pearl did they gain a sliver of a chance to breathe. Yet, with only half an hour until the Blood Moon Night, Lanbo had actually found this place. It was clearly a purposeful arrival, and it was even very likely that there was a traitor among them.

Thinking of the long-missing Weijing, a bad premonition arose in Aoweide's heart.

As expected, Lanbo laughed out loud, suddenly grabbed Weijing who was hiding in the distance, gripped his neck fiercely, and threw him onto the ground like trash.

"You'll have to ask your good clansman about that. If it weren't for him, we wouldn't have been able to find this place so smoothly."

Lanbo revealed an ambiguous smile, full of mockery.

Weijing's face was deathly pale. Caught off guard and thrown to the ground, he let out a painful scream, but he couldn't care about that; he immediately fixed his gaze on Aoweide.

"Chieftain, listen to my explanation! I didn't want to harm the entire Mermaid Race; I just wanted that ignorant outsider to die. None of this has anything to do with me!"

Weijing explained in a panic, and as if thinking of something, he cast a hateful gaze at Su Chen.

"It's all him! It's all this wretch! If it weren't for him, none of this would have happened!"

Hearing Weijing's frantic, crazed words, Su Chen couldn't help but frown, cursing him as an idiot in his heart.

Originally, Lanbo could not find this place, and it was safe for the Mermaid Race. But this ignorant fool had actually brought Lanbo here, which was nothing short of a catastrophe for the rest of the Mermaid Race.

Aoweide was also deeply disappointed; he never dreamed that the culprit harming his own tribe was one of his own people.

"King, you promised me! You only wanted to get rid of this human! You definitely wouldn't lay a hand on the mermaids, right?"

Seeing that no one was paying attention to him, Weijing suddenly fixed his gaze on Lanbo.

His eyes were full of longing as he crawled over to hug Lanbo's thigh.

The two of them had an agreement before; they were only going to eat and capture this human, and it had nothing to do with the other mermaids.

Hearing this, Lanbo acted as if he had heard a massive joke, thinking to himself that this mermaid was truly stupid—he had never promised him that he would *only* kill this human.

After all, he had been coveting the Mermaid Race for many years, and now that he finally had this opportunity, how could he easily give it up?

Thinking of this, he snorted coldly and kicked Weijing away: "A lowly thing, yet you dare to negotiate terms with me? Being able to lead the way for me is your honor."

As his voice fell, before Weijing could react, he suddenly gripped Weijing's neck and said with great disdain: "Although your cultivation is a bit low, you'll do as an appetizer."

"No... don't, I beg you..."

Hearing this, Weijing was terrified out of his wits and began to beg for help in a panic.

But before he could even finish his sentence, Lanbo extended his fangs and pierced them fiercely into his neck.

Weijing struggled violently, his two legs kicking incessantly, but he could only feel the blood in his body gradually diminishing. Visibly, his plump body began to shrivel.

In the end, he couldn't even maintain his legs, which turned back into a fish tail. Like a dead fish, his cheeks sunken and skin hanging off his bones, he looked exceptionally ghastly, finally becoming a dried corpse.

After finishing all this, Lanbo casually tossed Weijing's corpse aside, muttering to himself: "With that fishy smell, it really doesn't taste as good as a human's."

Crimson bloodstains still hung from the corners of his mouth, making him look exceptionally sinister and terrifying.

Su Chen watched this scene before him, his expression growing increasingly grave. The intense pressure had already caused a few mermaids to tremble all over. (End of chapter)
