Chapter 356: Release Our Saintess
The one speaking was none other than Xiao Ling, who had been asleep for a long time.
Xiao Ling the flame flew about for a while, and seeing that their attention was all on her, she touched her head in some embarrassment.
"Why are you all staring at me? It's quite embarrassing."
Xiao Ling chuckled twice, then immediately added, "I was just asleep, but I know everything that happened to you."
"Then do you have a way?"
Su Chen asked impatiently right away.
Xiao Ling nodded immediately; although she was just a small flame, her tone revealed a hint of pride as she spoke: "This purple barrier is a great tonic for me. I can make it disappear in a few bites."
"But if you eat it, wouldn't you be discovered by the people from the Sun Family and the Nangong Family?"
Luo Shen frowned subconsciously and asked, unable to hide her worry.
"Don't worry. I can sense that this barrier is inextricably linked to the entire Leiyin Mountain. As long as I eat just a little and make a hole in this barrier, they won't notice. It will restore itself to its original state afterward."
Xiao Ling hovered back and forth in front of the barrier impatiently, sniffing the scent on it, her mouth practically watering.
Others were not Spirit Fire, so naturally, they couldn't smell the fragrant, delicious scent on it, but to her, this was a rare delicacy!
Su Chen was amused by her impatient appearance.
"Then go ahead and eat. Let's act quickly and get this resolved sooner," Su Chen said with a smile.
Upon receiving the order, the flames around Xiao Ling's body instantly doubled in size, as if she had opened her mouth wide, and in the blink of an eye, a hole was torn into the barrier before them.
The hole grew larger and larger in an instant, and Xiao Ling chewed frantically with a look of pure bliss.
Finally, it reached a size large enough for one person to pass through, and after they all crossed, Xiao Ling took one last lingering look at the barrier and let out a satisfied burp.
"You glutton, we have important matters to attend to now. If you eat too much, we'll all be discovered."
Su Chen couldn't help but say as he looked at Xiao Ling.
Xiao Ling also knew it wasn't the time to be gluttonous, so she could only take one last longing look at the barrier, let out a sullen response in the blink of an eye, and then vanished.
Ano was left stunned by this sudden turn of events.
She blinked her large eyes, still pointing at the direction where Xiao Ling had disappeared, and said, "This fire can talk, is it a spirit?"
"You could think of it that way. It is the intelligence of a Spirit Fire, just a gluttonous one."
Su Chen chuckled twice, offering a simple explanation.
"So amazing, it actually bit the barrier right open. I saw that group of people try to get in before, and they suffered quite a bit."
Ano looked on with admiration, and as she recalled what the Sun Family and the Nangong Family had been doing lately, her gaze couldn't help but dim.
Originally, they were happy when outsiders came in, but who could have imagined that it was precisely because of these outsiders that they were brought to the brink of annihilation.
If they could, they would rather that day had never happened.
"It's okay, it's okay, it's all in the past. Now, hurry and take me to find your clansmen."
Su Chen patted Ano's head and couldn't help but pitch his voice up as he spoke.
It was his first time dealing with a cub like this, and he was so afraid that speaking too loudly would scare her that he forced his perfectly normal young man's voice into a high-pitched, affected tone. Xiaoxian heard this voice and was the first to burst into laughter: "Master, what is this strange voice of yours?"
She walked in front of Su Chen, her eyes curving into crescents, her words filled with teasing.
"I see the lesson I gave you yesterday wasn't enough, since you still have the energy to mock me."
Su Chen felt inexplicably embarrassed and glared at Xiaoxian, his words laced with threats.
At the thought of yesterday's absurdity, Xiaoxian's face turned red in a flash, and she quickly shut her mouth, staying as far away from Su Chen as if she were avoiding a plague.
After passing through this barrier, the group walked for several hours before finally seeing the light of day again.
Ano climbed out, vigilantly checked the surroundings to ensure there were no other guards, and only then let Su Chen and the others climb out.
"This is Leiyin Mountain."
Lv Luo looked at the surrounding scenery with great curiosity.
What met their eyes was a lush forest, but every blade of grass and tree here was different from the outside world; the leaves were mostly deep purple, and due to the influence of the island, they were surrounded by pale purple electrical currents.
Even though Lv Luo could communicate with plants, she learned that in order to survive, these plants had long ago evolved to integrate with the lightning attribute over these many years.
It was now nearing dusk, and there was almost no light, especially in this forest where the sky-covering trees blocked out nearly all illumination.
"Where should we go to find your clansmen now?"
Su Chen asked subconsciously; he could feel that they were now inside Leiyin Mountain.
"We still have to pass through one more barrier."
Ano said, "When our ancestors first came here, they prophesied that there would be a great catastrophe in the future, and that we must hide behind a barrier to have a glimmer of hope for survival. It's just that the barrier cannot be maintained for long; once opened, it isolates the aura inside and out, and only our clansmen can find the traces within."
As Ano spoke, she kept walking forward, introducing the specific situation of Leiyin Mountain along the way.
The group kept an eye on the surroundings while following Ano, walking for a full hour before finally arriving in front of a waterfall.
They saw Ano stop, muttering words that the others couldn't understand, yet a great deal of lightning elements gathered around her.
Immediately after, the waterfall in front of them seemed to be cut off at the waist, opening a straight path, and the water falling from above was split apart at that moment.
"Alright, let's go in."
Ano caught her breath, took out the medicinal pills Su Chen had given her earlier, and swallowed a few of them whole to cover up her pale complexion.
This mysterious sight was not particularly strange to the group, but seeing it with their own eyes was still somewhat shocking.
The group nodded and followed her inside.
Passing through the waterfall, the scenery changed once again. At first glance, it didn't look much different from the scenery of Leiyin Mountain, but the Spiritual Power here was clearly abundant, and it was much more humid.
As the group continued to walk forward, they saw a cave entrance. Just as they were about to enter, two people suddenly lunged out from the doorway, swords in hand, and charged toward them.
"You despicable villains, how dare you hold the Saintess hostage and find your way here! Surrender at once and release our Saintess! Otherwise, don't blame us for being impolite!"
As the words fell, a flash of blades and swords appeared; before they could even see the figures clearly, they felt a thick layer of lightning elements covering them, numbing their very bones.
Seeing that her clansmen had misunderstood, Ano rushed to the front, using her frail body to block their attacks.
