Chapter 100: Part.2[All-Out High Energy]
Part.2[All-Out High Energy]
In a crevice of high-dimensional space, a slender and graceful figure passed through countless spatial barriers, directing Their gaze toward a blue planet.
Blue ribbons of light wound around Them like wind, lending the humanoid silhouette a divine beauty.
"You've come, yes, you're back—I can feel it! It's you! Though you've shattered into this state, I still recognize/remember you!"
The indescribable language expressed agitation and sorrow, distorting the entire space and producing what seemed like a memory projection.
"You succeeded, although it came at the cost of shattering all of yourself; as long as you haven't disappeared, there is still a chance."
They murmured, turning Their gaze toward the Fifth Star of the Net Mansion in Taurus as seen from Earth.
"In order to free myself from Their control, you actually went to such lengths—I'm in agony...... I'll wait for you; when we meet again, let's kill Them together!!!"
The speaker's emotions grew stronger in their self-talk, and a fragmented crystal flashing with brilliant light was drawn from Their body.
It throbbed as if alive.
"Too bad I only have this tiny fragment, which I managed to save only by exerting all my strength back then. I'm sorry——I'm sorry, waa waa waa————"
Their focus settled on this flickering crystal that seemed to comfort Them, and amid growing sorrow, They further sealed this spatial crevice to avoid detection by some indescribable entity.
"We'll see! Hastur!"

After staring for a long time, Wuming gained some answers, but their doubts did not lessen—instead, the various entanglements in this information pulled them deeper.
The girl, feeling a slight headache, squinted and rubbed her forehead, only upon reopening her eyes to discover she had filled the study table that could seat six with various materials.
"No, no, if I keep looking like this I'll just go overboard—at least I already know my previous doubts; for now, those new doubts are better left for later consideration."
After glancing at the sky, Wuming concluded their harvest for the day; seeing no one around, she used crystal dust adhering to the pages of books to help organize her materials.
Within just a few minutes, the girl who controlled crystal dust like a conductor had already donned tight clothing, left the building, thanked the duty manager still on shift, and hurried back to the dormitory as she had come.
"Wow~, you came back this late—did you really go to read books?"
Mina soaked her feet, drawing out her tone to tease.
"Ah——, sorry, I've been preoccupied with something, so I got a bit absorbed."
Wuming's face was full of fatigue from their jumbled thoughts, and they forced out a smile to explain.
"Take it easy, it'll pass. Haven't you eaten? I spent some personal points to buy you some food."
She pointed to Wuming's metal lunchbox on the coffee table.
"Personal points?"
"Yes, it's the currency in the ogas system; in this town it can be used as regular money, normally stored on an IC card, much more convenient than carrying cash—but if you leave town you have to exchange it for the equivalent amount in rubles."
Mina twisted around and pulled from the clothes hanging by the bed a card about the same size as Wuming's ID card.
"I didn't expect that."
Wuming was surprised that something they considered so modern could be encountered in this era, and even more surprised that this world's Soviet Union had early on planned for paperless transactions.
"Hehe~, if you want it, tomorrow you can go to the town's ogas system service center to get one; afterward, to transfer amounts into it you can go to a bank or the school's ogas service point, but if you want to withdraw cash you can only go to a bank."
Mina tossed her card to Wuming, explaining proudly.
The girl looked back and forth; besides having the same configuration as Wuming's ID card, Mina's card was a bit thicker, likely due to the crystal core in the laminate, though her card's exterior was wrapped in a nice silk sleeve whose pattern resembled that of the unseen roommate's bedding.
"It was a gift from the dorm supervisor—she's wonderful!" Mina said, seeing Wuming gently stroking the pleasant-to-the-touch sleeve.
"I'm somewhat looking forward to it."
"Hahaha, I'll definitely help you get one too!"
After some roughhousing, Wuming felt their mood indeed relax considerably.
Two days later, Wuming participated in the school-arranged skip-grade exam.
By the way, the Soviet Union's education system consists of three years of elementary school followed by 7–10 years of secondary school, with no distinction between junior and senior high, not greatly different from the world Wuming knows.
However, the adolescents/children of appropriate age studying in this school here are all in quotes.
Here the school follows an eight-year secondary curriculum, and starting after fourth grade it adds various knowledge about the world's "other side" to the courses; before fourth grade it's not entirely the same as other schools either, as some psychic awakened ones or mysterious creatures—nonhuman beings—also learn how to control their powers and society's various rules.
。。
Through deep learning via the roadside eyeglass system, Wuming easily passed the skip-grade exam for the general middle-school curriculum.
After explaining the situation to the person in charge, Wuming then went on to complete the regular courses of the last four years; although some subjects like combat command, battlefield emergency response, and crafting weapons from household materials were a bit outrageous, Wuming managed to answer enough to scrape by.
As for the remaining courses on the "other side" knowledge, Wuming chose to attend different classes simultaneously in one school year; although much of that knowledge is cumulative and sequential, requiring step‑by‑step study, in order to reach the Gravity Spring as soon as possible, Wuming still opted for this and will take all remaining exams next year to finish their studies quickly.
"From now on, only field tasks remain; completing enough of them counts as earning the credits needed for early graduation. That way, I'll be able to make it to Stanford in 1975 in time for the Gravity Spring!"
After finishing the exam, Wuming learned that Soviet Union students, besides school coursework, must also participate in labor as part of their studies; however, due to this school's particular nature, the "labor" its students undertake is not limited to operating machinery or volunteering to visit veterans, console elders, or do farm work—they also must report for duty to handle some suspected supernatural incidents (if the student is not human, then this is the only task they can take, since nonhuman intelligent beings are basically part of the supernatural, and if they recklessly reveal their true form they might end up causing harm).
The reason students investigate is that the country is vast; here each day countless suspected supernatural incidents are filed into the Mystery Management Bureau's archives, all of which would exhaust field agents and commissioners to process, merely increasing the backlog, so these students also have the task of investigating and handling such suspected supernatural incidents.
Because they are suspected supernatural incidents, the students' general investigative procedure resembles that of a certain Chinese TV program 'Approaching Science'; in most cases it's merely visual fatigue or a purely human-caused event, posing little danger, and if a genuine supernatural event is encountered, the school's requirement is to investigate as thoroughly as possible while safeguarding life and mental safety, rather than to resolve it.
Once the nature of the incident is clear, one can simply leave afterward; of course, those with extraordinary talent or nonhuman beings who handle the supernatural incident after investigating also gain extra credit rewards, ogas system consumption points, and priority promotion within the Mystery Management Bureau.
