Chapter 120: You Have to Call Me a Real Person
There are three Buddha statues inside the hall.
Shakyamuni Buddha, Medicine Buddha, and Amitabha Buddha.
Yu Lin steps before them and silently says, "I've caused many offenses, please forgive me, forgive me."
He then turns his head toward Ning Ya:
"Attack!"
"Alright." Ning Ya immediately employs her Water Authority, summons a stream beneath the three statues, and with a single wave of her hand, they rise from the ground.
But before she can act further, a loud shout erupts from behind:
"Stop! What are you doing?!"
Yu Lin and Ning Ya turn at the sound and see an elderly monk with white beard and hair standing at the hall entrance.
He wears a reddish‑yellow kasaya, his frail frame upright as a pine, and his wrinkled face is now full of anger.
His eyebrows nearly stand on end, and his bright eyes stare fixedly at the floating statues.
"Put down the statues!" the monk barks, his voice booming, utterly uncharacteristic of someone his age.
He pounds his Zen staff on the ground, producing a deep "Dong" thud:
"It's closing time for the temple; who allowed you to enter?!"
Yu Lin does not recognize him, but Ning Ya does:
"So it's Elder De Wu."
De Wu is currently one of Shaolin Temple's three top Five Qi Realm masters; after reaching the Five Qi Perfection place twenty years ago, he announced a closed‑door retreat, waiting to break through the Grand Void before emerging again.
But now, judging by his cultivation, he remains at Five Qi, not the unfathomable depth of the Grand Void; perhaps Yu Lin and Ning Ya's actions have provoked him?
Or perhaps the retreat was merely talk.
De Wu, seeing that Ning Ya recognizes him, ponders briefly, finds no memory of her, then says in a deep voice, "Since you're first‑time offenders, quickly put down the statues."
"Leave Shaolin Temple now!"
"Apologies." Yu Lin steps forward and draws out his General's certificate:
"I am now fully in charge here; any matters will be reported to you after the fact."
"Please step aside and do not hinder us from performing official duties."
"........." De Wu's gaze falls on Yu Lin's General's certificate, showing surprise:
"You are Yu Lin?"
"It's me." Yu Lin nods and puts his certificate away.
"Then you cannot act so recklessly!" De Wu raises his voice sharply, staring at Yu Lin:
"If everyone were like you, wielding power without restraint, doing whatever they please, where would order be?!"
"You can't move today's statues!"
"Hehe~" A faint snicker comes from behind Yu Lin, Ning Ya's face bearing a mocking tone:
"Elder De Wu, say that to your former abbot instead."
"You never get it right, then come chastise us—hardly persuasive.........."
She says that, waves her right hand lightly, and the water instantly lifts the three statues, sending them flying to the side.
"How daring!"
De Wu sees the scene, lets out a low growl, and his gaunt body suddenly erupts with a massive pressure.
The hall's air seems to freeze instantly, an invisible pressure surging toward Ning Ya like a tide!
"Ugh!" Ning Ya hums low, her face turning deathly pale.
She feels a thousand‑pound stone crushing her chest, making breathing difficult.
Her hand that was controlling the water trembles involuntarily, and the three statues crash down with a "Boom", shaking dust that falls from the hall.
"Is this the Five Qi Realm?" Ning Ya grits her teeth, her legs trembling slightly, yet she stubbornly straightens her back.
She looks up at De Wu, a mocking curl at the corner of her mouth:
"What? Can't explain… so you resort to force?"
De Wu's face darkens like water, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
He says no more, and slowly lifts his right hand.
In an instant, Golden Light floods the hall; a golden Buddha hand over a zhang tall materializes out of thin air, its palm bearing a swirling "swastika" Buddha seal, surging with mountain‑crushing force toward the two.
"Since the two of you refuse to leave on your own," De Wu's voice is ice‑cold, without a hint of warmth:
"Then let this humble monk help you."
Where the golden hand passes, the air emits an overburdened hum.
Ning Ya tries to dodge, but finds her body tightly bound by that pressure, unable to move.
Just as the Buddha hand is about to reach them, Lord Long prepares to strike, when a figure suddenly appears before them.
"Old Bald Donkey, bullying the weak with strength is not right."
Ling Dongxuan, who has been protecting Yu Lin from the shadows, appears, says something lightly, then exhales a gentle breath.
That seemingly casual breath makes the golden hand seem struck by lightning, instantly shattering into countless Light Dots.
A golden Light Rain suddenly falls inside the hall, coating everyone's faces with a golden sheen.
De Wu looks at Ling Dongxuan, eyes narrowed: "Ling Dongxuan, did you order this?"
"Do you intend to provoke a clash between the Daoist Sect and the Buddhist Sect?!"
"Hey, don't pin this on me." Ling Dongxuan waves his hand, smiling faintly:
"I only learned a few Daoist techniques, and besides, I also studied Buddhist teachings—so which side does that make me?"
"As for you, Old Bald Donkey, after all these years we haven't seen any progress at all.........."
In the past our cultivation was equal, and we didn't care about titles or names, but now I've attained the Tai Xu Realm, and you still… you must call me.
Ling Dongxuan, True Person.
When those words were spoken.
De Wu's already grim face grew even grimmer, and his body trembled slightly from anger, as he gritted his teeth and said:
"Ling Dongxuan!"
"You............"
His words had not yet left his mouth.
Boom—
A vast, sea‑like pressure suddenly descended, and De Wu felt his shoulders sink, his knees slamming to the ground uncontrollably.
The ground instantly cracked with spider‑web patterns, and the hem of his Monk Robe was shattered by the shock!
"I told you," Ling Dongxuan said, hands clasped behind his back, his tone still casual:
"You must call me True Person."
De Wu's forehead bulged with blue veins, his gaunt hands pressed hard against the ground, yet he could not lift a single finger.
He lifted his head with difficulty, disbelief filling his eyes.
Is the gap between the Five Qi Realm and the Tai Xu Realm really that huge? Even though his Five Qi is complete, he can't even resist?!
"Just now, out of previous consideration, I won't argue with you," Ling Dongxuan said, shaking his head lightly, his robe moving without wind:
"Now you still dare to speak recklessly, thinking my temper is good?"
The pressure spread like a tide, instantly sweeping across the entire Shaolin Temple.
Inside the temple, the bronze bell rang without wind, startling a flock of birds.
Monks meditating in the meditation hall were abruptly awakened, the weaker ones collapsing to the ground.
"Bad!" De Yuan, who was leafing through scriptures in the Scripture Repository, sprang up, his Prayer Beads snapping with a "crack":
"It's the aura of the Tai Xu Realm!"
He exchanged a glance with another Five Qi Realm elder, and they rushed toward the Mahavira Hall.
When they and the other monks arrived, they saw the horrifying sight of De Wu kneeling on the ground.
"Senior Uncle!" a monk shouted, about to step forward, but Ling Dongxuan's gaze pinned him to the spot.
"Everyone stay back," Ling Dongxuan said calmly, "unless you also wish to kneel on the ground."
The monks fell silent as if chilled, even the senior monk De Yuan halted.
The pressure of the Tai Xu Realm was beyond anything they could resist!
Only then did Ling Dongxuan turn, his face instantly adopting a warm smile, as if the earlier authority had never existed:
"Xiao Lin, what brings you here?"
"Digging for the Nine Tripod Cauldrons."
"Digging for the Nine Tripod Cauldrons, huh? Such a trivial matter can be left to others........ What?! You take a break aside, I'll do it!"
