Chapter 162: Be My Son

~5 min read 955 words

Olympus.

This eternal Divine Mountain towers majestically atop the sea of clouds, its splendor far surpassing mortal imagination.

The so‑called Divine Mountain on the ground below merely borrows the name, serving only for believers to worship here.

Only by passing the Cloud Gate, guarded by the Chronology Goddesses, can one glimpse its true form.

The entire peak pierces nine layers of clouds; its summit is not a point but an endless golden plateau.

Here it is forever bathed in Zeus‑bestowed Holy Light, with no wind, rain, frost or snow, only an eternal spring warmth.

One can see the towering clusters of the gods' palaces, each temple forged by Hephestos himself.

And above it, on the clouds.

Only the God King Palace stands proudly, its grandeur far exceeding the sum of all other temples.

The palace is wholly forged from thunder‑tempered mithril; the colonnades are entwined with eternal golden lightning; the dome hovers Zeus's thunder Holy Emblem; twelve thunder patterns flow endlessly like living beings.

The plaza before the hall is paved with tiles inlaid with fragments of stars, each step stirring a faint starlight.

Accompanied by the whinny of horses, a war chariot drawn by four flaming divine horses comes to a halt before the gate.

Yu Lin steps down, looks at the palace, and thinks to himself, "It really is grand; no wonder it's where Zeus dwells."

Ares then comes to his side, saying, "Mother let you go in, I won't go in with you."

"Seize the opportunity."

He winks at Yu Lin, as if he doesn't care at all about Yu Lin being his step‑father.

Of course, it might also be that he wants to see Yu Lin fall to the same fate as the one who previously seduced Hera…

Yu Lin ignores him and simply steps forward.

When his foot just crosses the threshold—

Buzz!

The entire temple trembles slightly, and the thunder patterns on the columns flash simultaneously.

Inside, the scene opens up: the floor is a flowing sea of clouds, the dome a rotating star river, and countless floating golden lanterns illuminate the hall as if it were daylight.

At the far end of the hall, Hera leans casually on an ivory throne.

Today she has shed her former imposing attire, wearing only a moon‑light gauze dress; her golden hair cascades like a waterfall, and her emerald eyes hold a smile.

But what surprises Yu Lin even more—

On the thunder throne beside her sits a burly middle‑aged man.

He has curly brown hair and a beard, muscles bulging like granite, clad in a simple white robe, yet exuding a suffocating pressure.

Most striking are his eyes—his left eye a clear sky blue, his right eye flickering with thunderous lightning.

Zeus?!

Zeus stands, his smile bright as a neighbor's uncle, and says, "Hello, Yu Lin."

"Glad to finally meet you."

Just as Yu Lin is about to greet him, Zeus spreads his arms, his voice booming:

"Be my son!"

Yu Lin: ".........."

Zeus sees his startled expression, walks toward him, wraps an arm around his shoulder, and laughs, "Be my son, you won't lack benefits."

"The twelve principal gods can become thirteen, and you may choose any goddess; I will use my thunder to forge you a weapon and battle armor!"

"Then you will be invincible!"

Yu Lin raises an eyebrow, asking curiously, "Are you Zeus?"

"Not entirely." Zeus shakes his head, smiling, "I am merely a projection incarnation of him from a certain era."

"What? Afraid I won't keep my word?"

"Rest assured, though I am only a projection, everything I say is also spoken by the true self; I am him, but he is not me. Understand?"

Yu Lin nods, "Understood."

Zeus does not continue the topic, but says, "Consider it, will you?"

He glances at Hera, then lowers his voice:

"If you're not satisfied with the current goddess, just wait."

"I'll find a time to create a few more."

Truly a champion of procreation.

Yu Lin sighs inwardly, then shakes his head, "Sorry, I have no such intention."

"But I'd like to ask."

"Where has your true self gone?"

Zeus, hearing him, pretends to be mysterious and says:

"Do you really want to know?"

"Of course."

"Upon hearing this secret, you may have to pay some price."

"It's fine."

"Alright, listen carefully.........."

Zeus's face shows a mischievous grin, shakes his head and says, "Actually, I don't know."

"As I said before, I am merely a projection incarnation."

Yu Lin: "............"

Zeus sees his speechless face, bursts into a hearty laugh, then stops, his flippancy fading into seriousness: "Yu Lin, if you truly wish to know."

"Then go become the Supreme!"

"Only the Supreme can seek the trace of the Supreme!"

He patted Yu Lin's shoulder, looking as if he truly believed Yu Lin.

Yu Lin didn't know whether he genuinely didn't know or was pretending not to know, but he was unwilling to speak, and Yu Lin couldn't force him, so he could only nod:

"Alright, I'll try."

"Then you already know my purpose, don't you?"

"Hmm." Zeus nodded, turned to Hera, and said, "Hera, this matter arose because of you; you will resolve it."

"Goodbye."

As the words fell, his body exploded with a bang, turning into a spray of starlight that vanished.

Hera, seemingly accustomed to his situation, showed an unperturbed expression, rose from her Divine Seat, and approached Yu Lin with an apologetic tone:

"This matter was my misjudgment; I am deeply sorry for it."

"Any request you make, as long as I can fulfill it, I will do my utmost to satisfy."

Yu Lin thought for a moment, then said, "This way."

"Forge me a divine artifact, and we will settle our accounts."
