Chapter 3: Characteristics—Miracle
When Yu Lin learned that Jesus was dead.
He had been lying in the roadside grass for a long time.
He wore a hood and a set of soft armor, traded for three pieces of Silk from a black‑market dealer, light yet tough enough to withstand ordinary swords' slashes.
At his right side lay a Long Sword, its blade slender and its edge shimmering with a cold light.
A short sword was slung diagonally at his waist, ready for close combat.
At the foot of the hill behind him stood a horse, also obtained in exchange for Silk.
Ahead.
Roman soldiers were chatting lazily, one of them holding a hammer and Iron Tongs, removing Jesus's corpse from the cross.
Yu Lin licked his cracked lips.
His mission was to steal Jesus's corpse.
But now he no longer wanted to steal—he wanted to seize!
No one saw his face, no one knew his identity......... that was a perfect "steal"!
Feather Divine Valor, activate!
In an instant, a Frenzy of power surged into Yu Lin's limbs and bones like a torrent!
His muscles tensed instantly, his bones emitted a crackling roar, his blood boiled like magma, and his heartbeat echoed in his chest like war drums!
Fragments of Xiang Yu's memory detonated in his mind: the blood‑mist of the Battle of Julu, the arrow rain of the Pengcheng breakout, the final sword at the Wu Riverbank... all transformed into his combat experience!
—The martial might of the Hegemon‑King Xiang Yu now belongs entirely to him!
Yu Lin seized the Long Sword and sprang violently from the grass!
One—Break Army!
"Who's that?!" The nearest Roman soldier just turned his head, and a flash of bright blade streaked before his eyes!
"Pfft—!"
The skull flew off, blood gushed out!
Yu Lin's figure surged into the crowd like a phantom, the Long Sword sweeping horizontally, its blade flashing like lightning!
The armor of the second soldier was as thin as paper before the blade, his chest cleaved open, his entrails spilling everywhere!
"Enemy attack—! Form ranks! Form ranks!"
The commander roared, drawing his short sword, but Yu Lin was too fast; his blade struck the third soldier's shoulder, cleaving him from right shoulder to left waist, the corpse split in two and slammed onto the ground!
"Stop him! Release the arrows!"
The bowstrings quivered, and several feathered arrows shot through the air!
Yu Lin let out a wild laugh, the Long Sword swirling into a silver screen, the arrows all being sliced down!
He lunged forward with a fierce step, the blade like a dragon, aiming straight for the commander's throat!
The commander hastily raised his shield to block, but the force of this slash far exceeded mortal strength—
"Kach—!"
The shield shattered, the blade's momentum undiminished, slicing cleanly through his neck!
Blood spurted like a fountain, Yu Lin's face stained with warm crimson, yet he didn't blink, turned and cleaved the last two soldiers' line with a single slash, racing straight for the cross!
Seize the corpse!
Jesus's corpse had already been taken down by the soldiers, laid flat on the ground, the burial shroud just covering his chest.
Yu Lin kicked aside a Temple guard trying to block, grabbed Jesus's shoulder with one hand, yanked hard, and hoisted the corpse onto his shoulder!
"Stop him! Don't let him take the corpse!" someone roared as they charged.
Yu Lin let out a cold snort, swept the Long Sword, drove the crowd back, then sprinted to the black horse, flipped and leapt onto it!
"Run—!"
A whip crack, and the black horse whinnied as it surged forward!
Yu Lin turned back and stuck up his middle finger at them:
"Go eat shit!"
The Roman soldiers shouted angrily as they gave chase, but Yu Lin was too fast; his horse thundered out of the execution ground like black lightning, racing down the mountain path, and in the blink of an eye shook off the pursuers without a trace!
The wind howled, Yu Lin held the reins with one hand, his other hand tightly gripping Jesus's corpse to keep it from slipping.
"Is this the Feather Divine Valor, the one of a kind through the ages?"
"What a pity, it only works once."
Yu Lin thought to himself.
He didn't know how long he had been galloping, but he stopped in a secluded valley.
He placed Jesus's corpse on a flat stone.
His eyes were tightly shut, his face oddly serene, as if he were merely in a dreamless slumber.
The two holes in his hands and the spear‑pierced wound on his ribs no longer bled; the dried blood had hardened into dark‑red scars on his skin.
A trace of blood from the execution still clung to the corner of his mouth, yet his expression was so peaceful it seemed almost holy, as if death were merely a necessary trial, not an end.
"Jesus, my friend, I'm leaving now."
Yu Lin tore a strip of cloth from his clothing and wiped the blood from Jesus's face.
He wanted to give Jesus's corpse a burial.
But he had no time.
Because the Myth Book in his mind began a countdown the moment he seized Jesus's corpse.
Only a few seconds remained now.
Three.
Two.
One.........
At the instant the countdown ended, the air in the valley seemed to solidify.
On Jesus's corpse, a faint golden glimmer suddenly spread, the light gathering like flowing water toward his forehead, finally coalescing under Yu Lin's palm into a crystal‑clear Light Dot.
【Task Completed】
【Gained Jesus Trait — Miracle】
【Miracle: The ordinary cannot be explained, human effort cannot achieve, transformation cannot become ability; this is the "Miracle"】
(Jesus: My dearest friend, sometimes this can help you, I am with you, and please have compassion for all beings)
"Miracle? Jesus!"
Without waiting for Yu Lin to ponder.
The next moment, a flash of WhiteLight streaked by, sending him directly back to his original world.
【Next Wandering Myth countdown: 10 days (when the countdown ends, you may enter at any time until the task is completed)】
【Myth: Red Emperor Slays Snake】
【Task: Obtain the Snake Gallbladder of the White Emperor's son that Liu Bang slashed】
【Reward: Crimson Sky Sword Qi】
"...... Dizzy to death."
Yu Lin snapped his eyes open, the intense vertigo nearly made him roll off the bed.
He instinctively reached out to steady himself on the headboard, feeling the familiar wooden board under his palm.
Outside, car horns blared, and a distant construction pile driver thumped rhythmically.
Everything told him that he had returned, to his original world.
He leaned on the bedside rail and dry‑vomited twice, the taste of Jerusalem desert dust lingering in his mouth.
Looking down, he still wore the linen robe stained with blood, and the Rome Long Sword in his hand glimmered coldly under the lamp.
The phone beside him lit up with a text, the lock screen showing June 27, 2025 — exactly two days after his crossing.
And he had spent a little over a month there.
The flow of time was roughly 1 to 15? Uncertain, the next myth task might be different.
Yu Lin picked up the phone, seeing a dozen unread messages stacked on the screen; the top one was a rent reminder from the landlady, followed by a hospital health‑check report and notice.
Wha—
He pulled aside the curtains, the afternoon sun stabbing his eyes.
At the convenience store entrance downstairs, a few high schoolers crowded the vending machine, shouting and squealing.
The sheets drying on the opposite building swayed gently in the wind.
Everything felt so familiar.
It seemed all previous experiences were a fleeting illusion—if he weren't still wearing the Rome robe and truly had a book in his mind.
"Hm?"
Yu Lin, in a daze, saw a figure standing on the street, offering him a gentle smile.
As if having waited at the end of time for two thousand years, he once again saw an old friend's smile.........
He rubbed his eyes and looked again.
"Hm."
In the original spot was a promotional poster for a Jesus movie.
Misread.
Yu Lin shook his head, turned back to the bed, picked up the phone and opened the hospital health‑check notice.
He glanced—
Late-stage stomach cancer.
