Chapter 308: Arrival

~6 min read 1,156 words

In the early morning, the thin mist had not yet fully dissipated.

Before a rugged mountain path leading to the Continuous Mountain Range, Arthur halted his steps.

He had already cut short his tangled long hair, changed into clean, tidy travel attire, and his whole appearance seemed fresh and resolute, with only the depths of his eyes bearing the accumulated hardships and unwavering determination.

He looked up, his gaze turning toward the mist‑wrapped depths of the mountains, and whispered to himself, a hint of barely perceptible fatigue:

"Avalon, where exactly are you?"

This was already the third possible location he had found based on ancient legends and scattered clues.

Each time he set out full of hope, all he received was deeper fog.

He shook his head, shaking off that lingering doubt.

What if he can't find it? As long as he keeps moving, traversing the ends of the earth, he'll eventually find a trace!

He inhaled a breath of the cool mountain air and again set off with a firm stride.

However, after not traveling far, a panicked cry for help suddenly echoed from the dense forest ahead:

"Help—!"

Arthur's brow furrowed; without any hesitation, his form moved like lightning, vanishing from the spot in an instant, and the next moment he appeared where the voice had come from.

He saw an elven girl with golden long hair and pointed ears, stumbling through the woods, her delicate face filled with terror.

Behind her, several short, hideously green‑skinned goblins chased excitedly, their eyes flashing with lewd greed, their mouths emitting a "gagag" croak, as if they had already foreseen capturing this beautiful being to carry out the "Great Racial Breeding Plan"!

Just as those filthy claws were about to grasp the elven girl's flowing hair—

A figure, as solid as a rock, abruptly blocked between the goblins and the elf.

Arthur raised his right fist and, seemingly casually, threw a punch at the charging goblin.

Boom—!

A massive, boundless fist wind, like an invisible giant hammer, erupted audaciously!

The air was compressed into a roar; the goblins didn't even have time to scream before they were instantly crushed by that absolute force, exploding into clumps of blood mist that dissipated in the forest!

Arthur slowly withdrew his fist, feeling the surging power within, and whispered to himself, a hint of realization:

"No wonder the master said his greatest strength... is his fist art."

Yu Lin's seemingly out‑of‑place remark was now directly validated.

He turned, looking at the still‑shaken elven girl clutching her chest and gasping heavily, a gentle smile appearing on his face:

"It's alright now; be more careful next time, and don't act alone in such remote places."

Having said that, he gave a slight nod and prepared to continue his journey.

The elf was indeed beautiful, ethereal and lively, yet compared with his queen Guinevere, she seemed ordinary.

"Wait, w-wait!" The elven girl, seeing him so decisively about to leave, hurriedly recovered from her fear and shock at Arthur's might and appearance.

Her cheeks flushed red as she hurriedly caught up, her voice tinged with shyness and urgency:

"Sir... brave lord, may I ask your name? You saved me; I will surely repay you properly!"

Summoning courage, she invited, "Please... please come to my home for a glass of water and a rest?"

If those goblins, now turned to blood mist, saw her such proactive enthusiasm, they'd surely be so enraged they'd crawl out of the underworld to shout: "This truly is a world that judges by looks!"

Arthur merely waved his hand, his steps unpaused: "A trivial effort, no need to worry."

"I have other matters to attend to; I'm leaving now."

The elven girl, however, did not give up, staying beside him and persistently asking:

"What important matter? Perhaps... I could help you! I'm quite familiar with this mountain range!"

Arthur did not wish to speak much, but hearing her say she knew the mountains caused a slight stir in his heart.

The Elf Tribe enjoys long lifespans and broad experience, perhaps... He halted, looked at the sincere elven girl beside him, and finally asked:

"I am searching for a place called Avalon."

"Do you know where it is?"

"Hm?!" The elven girl, upon hearing that, was first stunned, then her eyes instantly lit with astonishing brilliance, her face blossoming into an ecstatic smile, as if she might leap up.

"Avalon?! That's my home!"

This world's Avalon has not yet been rooted by the later age's massive Dark Tree that symbolizes corruption and opposition, nor have Dark Elves taken residence here.

It remains a pure, almost ideal beyond‑world.

It seems like a fragment forgotten by time and blessed by Magic.

The sky displayed an eternal, gentle twilight hue, gold interwoven with pale violet, no blazing sun nor stars, only a warm glow evenly spreading.

The air was thick with vibrant life energy, mingling with the fragrance of exotic flora, each breath uplifting the spirit.

The vast, boundless lake resembled a massive sapphire set into the earth; its water was crystal clear yet unfathomably deep, the surface smooth as a mirror, reflecting the strange lights above, and occasionally phosphorescent fish leapt out, sending rippling circles.

At the lake's center, the legendary island was shrouded in a veil‑like thin mist, appearing and disappearing, its trees lush and green, with faint elven‑style structures hidden among them.

All around grew plants emitting a faint glow; bioluminescent mushrooms dotted the ground like stars, silver‑leaf trees rustled in the breeze, scattering specks of light.

This, then, is the true Avalon.

At that moment, at the edge of Avalon, above a meadow dotted with small flowers, space began to ripple gently like water.

In the next instant, at the center of the ripple, two silhouettes solidified from void, quietly appearing on the soft grass.

"Arthur, this is my home!"

The elf excitedly explained to Arthur what that place was, what this was.

Arthur simply listened quietly.

Yet, within him a wordless intuition surged, pulling him like a tide.

He involuntarily stepped forward toward the Holy Lake that shone like a massive sapphire, leaving the elf's voice gradually behind.

"Arthur! What are you doing?!"

The elf, seeing this, could only hurriedly follow. He

Following him to the lakeside, the clear lake water reflected the eternal golden light in the sky.

Just as she wondered what Arthur was going to do, the mirror-smooth lake surface silently split apart to both sides, revealing a path leading deeper.

A Lake Fairy clad in flowing gauze like water waves, wearing a crown woven of lilies and lotuses, slowly rose from the center of the parted lake.

The elf exclaimed in surprise: "Fairy?! How did you come out?!"

The Fairy ignored her, instead directing her gaze straight at Arthur, her voice echoing across the lakeside:

"Young king, what is your purpose?"

Arthur knelt on one knee and spoke loudly:

"I beseech you for a sword."
