Chapter 310: Guess What We Found

~7 min read 1,315 words

Many years later, the returned Arthur King, wielding the King's Sword, with his unmatched valor and increasingly mature kingly wisdom, swept away all surrounding forces that had not submitted, expanding the KaMeiLuo Kingdom's territory in the true sense to the whole of Britain!

A unified and powerful kingdom stood upon this land.

Thereafter, the kingdom entered a long period of Nourish spirit, store sharpness and recuperation.

Within the country, resources were abundant and the people prosperous, roads crisscrossed, towns and villages were filled with singing and dancing, sinking into an unprecedented peace and beauty.

Even those Saxon raiders who once ravaged the coastline, under the proactive strike and strong counterattack of the Round Table, were severely weakened and dared not cross the line for a long time.

However, Merlin, who witnessed and assisted Arthur in achieving this great feat, was not by his side to share this flourishing glory.

Because this Legendary Mage is currently sealed within a massive rock.

The rock sits beside a tranquil small lake, its clear water reflecting the sky and the stone's silhouette.

By the lake, Yu Lin leisurely sits on a small stool, holding a fishing rod, his gaze fixed on the float on the water's surface, as if nothing in the world is more important.

"I was wrong... Yu Lin, I truly know I was wrong!" Merlin's voice, filled with strong remorse and sorrow, turned into wave after wave of invisible spiritual ripples, penetrating the rock and striking Yu Lin's eardrum:

"Had I known this would happen, I should have listened to your advice back then... stay away from her!"

His voice suddenly rose, filled with grief and anger:

"Women! Ha, women! They deceived my feelings! Exploited my trust!"

Finally, it turned into a declaration that pierced his heart:

"No one understands me! No one!"

"I will never trust love again! Release me, I beg you!"

Merlin, this Legendary Mage of unknown age, because of his infatuation with the lake fairy Vivian, was lured into demonstrating Stone Penetrating Magic.

Vivian, seizing the moment he entered the rock, activated the seal; Merlin, having once sworn "Do Not Use Spells On Oneself Vow", could not save himself and was forever trapped within the rock.

Now his words of loss and frustration are merely wind in Yu Lin's ears, coming in one ear and out the other, not even bothering to lift an eyelid.

In his view, keeping the fellow locked in the stone for a few more days is just right, lest he, once freed, cannot restrain his heart and runs to entangle that fairy, causing new trouble.

Seeing his desperate pleas ineffective, Merlin simply shut his mouth, and the inside and outside of the rock instantly became much quieter.

Although his mortal body cannot leave the massive stone, with his magical prowess, carving a comfortable living space inside the stone is as easy as flipping a hand, and any needed items can be retrieved from the outside at any time.

As for what happens outside, a single Detection Magic lets him see everything clearly; aside from being unable to participate personally, he is not truly cut off from the world.

Yu Lin, seeing him suddenly fall silent, grew a hint of curiosity and proactively asked:

"Speaking of it, why did you originally take that oath? 'Do Not Use Spells On Oneself Vow'... is there a particular taboo?"

Merlin, hearing his initiative, though his tone still held a hint of grievance, answered in kind, his muffled voice emanating from the stone:

"Alas... it was because of my youthful ignorance, to learn a Legendary Magic, I used this oath as the price for exchanging knowledge."

"If I break it, the contract backfires, and most of my magical power would instantly leave me."

Yu Lin, hearing this, nodded in sudden realization: "Hmm, understood."

Then, very naturally, he added:

"Then you keep staying locked inside."

Merlin: "........"

An indescribable sense of suffocation instantly filled his "stone chamber".

He was angry, very angry, yet he could not get out, and even if he did, he couldn't defeat that guy outside... In the end, all his grievances and resentment could only turn into silent tears, silently swallowed back.

Yu Lin, no longer paying him any heed, flicked his wrist, lifted the rod, and a silver‑shimmering small fish rose to the surface.

He skillfully placed the small fish into the nearby fish basket, preparing to cast again—

"Yu Lin! Yu Lin!"

Suddenly, the voice of Dragon Lord rang in his ear.

"Guess what we found?"

"Hmm? What?"

"A cup! I heard it was the one your buddy Jesus used back in the day!!"

"........"

"A few guys calling themselves the Round Table showed up, tried to snatch from us, got knocked down by us, huh, overconfident!"

"..............."

"Why aren't you speaking?"

"What can I say?"

"You could brag how awesome we are, want to? We'll give it to you as a souvenir."

Yu Lin, listening to Dragon Lord, twitched his mouth and thought to himself, Arthur searched for the Holy Grail for so long, and you guys just take it!

He thought for a moment, then replied:

"Put it back, I have use for it."

"Just place it back where it was."

Dragon Lord, hearing this, said nothing more, simply replied: "Alright then."

"We'll call you if anything comes up, hanging up."

Transmission cut.

Arrivals are sudden, hangs are quick.

Yu Lin stretched his back, rose from the chair, intending to go see Arthur.

Before Merlin could speak, his figure flashed and vanished.

"So petty."

Merlin muttered under his breath, then raised his hand and a Light Screen appeared before him.

Within it, the entire royal capital was displayed.

Inside the Royal Palace, time seemed to settle a deeper color on the walls.

The once‑young king Arthur Pandragong has now entered a composed middle age.

His golden short hair remains dazzling, yet the temples have quietly taken on a few barely perceptible strands of frosty white.

That sharply angular face has shed all its youthful green, the years carving deeper lines upon it, and between the brows gathers the authority and a hint of fatigue born of years of handling state affairs and weighing pros and cons.

His stature remains as upright as a pine, yet appears heavier than in his youth; his broad shoulders seem to bear the weight of all Britain.

Only those emerald eyes, when looking at certain specific people, occasionally flash the emotions of his younger days.

He sits upright behind the spacious desk, reviewing the mountain‑high piles of memorials and documents; the feathered pen at his fingertips glides over the Parchment, producing a soft rustle, deciding every aspect of the kingdom.

Suddenly—

The motion in his hand halts without any warning.

It is not due to the thorny state affairs, but stems from a familiar throb beyond the senses, arising from deep within his soul.

He need not even lift his head, nor seek confirmation.

He slowly places the feathered pen gently on the pen holder, then rises from the Throne that symbolizes supreme authority.

Circling the desk, his steps steady, he walks toward the polished stone slab in the center of the Great Hall, illuminated by sunlight.

There, at an unknown time, a figure has already stood silently.

The person is dressed in simple clothing that clashes with this solemn Royal Palace, his handsome face unchanged from before, identical to the image he recalls from his childhood, adolescence, and youth.

Time seems to have frozen upon him, leaving no trace; an aura beyond the world naturally emanates, as if aging and death have long been severed from him.

Arthur walks to the figure, no longer looking straight ahead but gently lowering his noble, crown‑bearing head.

All his authority, all his composure, at the instant his gaze meets the other's, turn into the purest, heartfelt respect, and he calls out:

"Teacher."
