Chapter 313: Take It Lightly
Mage Holy Site.
Since Yu Lin created dozens of Legendary Magic, and after Merlin was sealed.
Yu Lin was naturally elected by the many Mages as the new head of the Holy Site.
Although Yu Lin didn't want the role, he basically stayed out of their affairs.
He only conducted his own research in the Holy Site, occasionally holding seminars to discuss the development of Magic.
In over a decade, without concerning himself with the outside world, he advanced Magic to a new height.
If we had to quantify it... roughly, based on Magic's previous rate of development, achieving the current achievement would have required at least three hundred years!
So when Merlin was rescued from the seal and returned to the Mage Holy Site at that moment.
He discovered.
There were two more Legendary Mages, and his power was already at the bottom tier among legends, even Level 9 Mages could spar with him for a few moves!
"What on earth happened?!"
Merlin immediately called his friend and began frantically replenishing his knowledge.
He even set aside the thought of going to find Yu Lin.
Yu Lin, on the other hand, enjoyed the leisure.
This guy appears as a steady great mentor in front of juniors, very trustworthy, but with friends he acts like a mischievous old child, noisy and quite annoying.
"Perfect, let's go see Arthur."
Yu Lin calculated the time; Arthur should be in his sixties this year. He vaguely heard the Dharma Masters in the Holy Site discussing that the KaMeiLuo Kingdom had recently experienced considerable turmoil.
Without further thought, Yu Lin's figure flashed and he vanished from the Holy Site.
In the next moment, his silhouette quietly appeared before the gates of the Camelot Royal Palace.
Inside the Great Hall, an important meeting seemed to be underway, with voices faintly audible.
Yu Lin wasn't in a hurry, so he simply stood at the doorway and chatted casually with the guard on duty.
From the guard's reverent and slightly gossipy account, Yu Lin learned of the decade-long upheavals: Morgan became the queen of the witches and married another king, her influence tangled and extensive;
Sir Lan Si Luo Te's affair with Queen Guinevere was exposed, shaking the kingdom;
Arthur, in a fury, ordered the queen's execution, but Lan Si Luo Te led men to seize the execution ground;
Lan Si Luo Te fled with Guinevere to France seeking refuge…
At this moment, the Great Hall was fiercely debating whether to dispatch troops to invade France to avenge past humiliation and uphold royal dignity.
"Then…" Yu Lin thought lightly, "Mo De Lei De, what is he doing now?"
He turned his head, his gaze piercing the crowd, landing on a handsome young man standing at the front inside the Great Hall.
That youth looked vastly different from his childhood self—tall, sharp-featured, with a lingering gloom and ambition in his brows, yet his youthful outline was still faintly recognizable.
At that moment, the youth seemed to keenly sense the distinctive stare, snapped his head up, and his eyes precisely caught Yu Lin at the doorway.
A flash of extreme surprise and an indescribable complex emotion crossed his face, almost spilling out:
"You… how are you here?!"
That startled question, though not loud, was enough to break the meeting's atmosphere.
Everyone's attention was instantly drawn, all turning toward the doorway.
Most ministers did not recognize Yu Lin, their faces filled with confusion and scrutiny—who is this person? How dare he trespass the royal palace's core? And he knows Lord Mo De Lei De?
However, the scene that followed left everyone astonished.
On the Throne sat the over‑sixty‑year‑old King Arthur, who, upon hearing Mo De Lei De's exclamation and seeing the person at the door, suddenly jolted.
Without hesitation, even with a haste unbefitting his age and rank, he sprang up from the Throne!
He pushed aside the council table before him, his steps a bit staggered and hurried as he passed several senior ministers, heading straight to the doorway.
The marks of time were profound on him: his once radiant golden hair had turned speckled white, meticulously groomed; his handsome face was covered with wrinkles, like rock eroded by wind and frost, etched with the marks of toil; his emerald eyes remained sharp, yet could not hide deep fatigue and vicissitudes.
His back remained straight, retaining a kingly bearing, but subtle details revealed the weight of age.
Arriving before Yu Lin, under the bewildered gazes, he slightly bowed his noble head, with an incredulous reverence, even a barely perceptible, traveler‑meets‑family choking, and called in a deep voice:
"Teacher... you, how did you come?"
With those words, everyone was shocked; this young man was actually the legendary teacher of King Arthur?!
Yu Lin looked at the student before him.
The once youthful king had been honed by time into a true old man, his authority even greater, yet the fatigue and frost in his brows and eyes were clearly visible.
He sighed softly in his heart, but a gentle smile graced his face: "It's nothing, I just came to see how you've been lately."
His gaze passed Arthur, landing on the solitary King's Sword leaning aside, not sheathed, beside the Throne, and his tone carried a hint of understanding and helplessness:
"Your Sword Sheath... what caused it to be lost again this time?"
Arthur heard this, his face instantly showing a mix of embarrassment and shame; like a child who had erred, his voice involuntarily lowered: "This... this..."
He struggled to explain: "It was Guinevere... she stole it to revenge me... then, I don't know where she threw it..."
He raised his head, guilt filling his eyes: "Teacher... I'm sorry."
Yu Lin fell silent.
Well, first it was sister Morgan, now wife Guinevere; it seems the loss of the Sword Sheath is a fated piece.
As for Arthur's bleak ending... he didn't continue to think about it.
He simply raised his hand, gently patting Arthur's now aged, slightly stooped shoulder, his tone calm and detachedly magnanimous:
"I don't blame you, look beyond it."
"It's nothing serious."
Arthur pressed his lips together, his graying beard trembling slightly, and finally condensed all complex emotions into a heavy word:
"... Yes."
