Chapter 355: The Snake
Satan and his followers say they are selecting a "New King", which sounds imposing.
But in fact, anyone with eyes knows it's merely a search for a strong, capable, and preferably obedient "senior worker".
Moreover, since Eastern and Western forces are now eyeing this place, this newly appointed "King" cannot afford any slack in his daily duties; he must be diligent, a model employee of Hell.
Yet even so, the allure of the Royal Throne remains unparalleled!
Even if only ranked below the Seven Great Demon Kings, that still instantly elevates one to a prominent position at the apex of Hell's pyramid, enough to drive countless Demons mad.
Thus, when the news spread, Hell trembled!
Regardless of whether they are diligently tempting souls in the Human World, or plotting a human rebellion deep in Hell, or idly loafing, they all set aside everything and rushed, in a hurry, to the massive arena built by the Seven Demon Kings.
Outside the arena, Demons formed a winding line, the clamor shaking the heavens, demonic aura surging.
Each Demon was given a number representing competition eligibility, rubbing his fists, ready to fight for a future on the arena.
And on the exclusive grandstand at the highest point of the arena, the seven Hell overlords had already gathered.
Except for Satan and Beelzebub, the gazes of the other five Demon Lords fell, to varying degrees, on Yu Lin, who had been personally summoned by Satan.
Especially Asmodeus, who holds the Authority of lust, his soul‑capturing eyes were practically glued to Yu Lin; his gaze, swirling, was filled with unabashed aggression and temptation, as if he could no longer wait to spark some kind of beyond‑friendship relationship.
If Yu Lin did not deeply know this Demon Lord's nature… hmm, no respect, no understanding, no closeness.
Yu Lin directly ignored the scorching gaze, treating it as background noise.
His gaze turned to the chaotic sea of Demons below, as noisy as a boiling porridge pot, sweeping slowly, finally settling on a unique figure.
It was a snake.
Its body was entirely covered with dark, obsidian‑like Scales, slender and powerful, its snake pupils were molten‑gold vertical slits.
It slithered forward, its posture elegant yet exuding an unsettling serenity.
Where it passed, instead of leaving slime, it ignited strands of dim, light‑devouring black flames that burned persistently.
The surrounding Demons, no matter how fierce or irritable, all stepped aside like a tide when it approached, voluntarily clearing a large area.
Their looks at the snake were filled with dread, fear, and a hint of unmistakable wonder and surprise, as if its appearance was wholly unexpected.
Perhaps sensing the gaze from above, the Black Snake suddenly halted its movement, lifted its head, and its molten‑gold vertical pupils precisely pierced through countless Demons, meeting Yu Lin's gaze on the grandstand head‑on.
It stared silently at Yu Lin for two seconds, then, surprisingly, gently flicked out a crimson Snake Tongue—not in provocation, but more like a… silent salute?
Immediately, a flash of Black Light, and its form swiftly changed, turning into a young man clad in simple, sleek black full‑body armor.
The man's face was mostly hidden by the helmet's shadow, revealing only a finely‑shaped jaw and slightly pallid thin lips.
He bowed slightly toward Yu Lin's direction, performing a courteous salute, exuding great decorum.
After the salute, another flash of Black Light, and he reverted to the Black Snake form, silently gliding forward, perhaps unable to maintain human shape for long, or finding his true form more comfortable.
Yu Lin withdrew his gaze, his brows subtly furrowing.
A strange feeling rose within him.
This snake seemed to recognize him.
Not because he was a guest of Satan—a superficial acquaintance—but a… earlier recognition, stemming from a distant past.
He turned his head sideways and asked the Satan, who was sitting beside him with crossed legs watching the spectacle:
"The snake below, what's its background?"
"It?" Satan replied, a hint of amusement flashing in his crimson eyes, a smile tugging at his mouth:
"It is the one who originally, in Eden Garden, tempted Adam and Eve, causing them to eat the Forbidden Fruit."
"I've heard, for unknown reasons, that that tree was cut down."
"Perhaps because of that, it could emerge, though we don't know who did it."
He sighed, a look of puzzlement on his face, yet his gaze fell on Yu Lin, laden with subtle meaning, causing the other Demon Lords to also look at Yu Lin.
After all, daring to cut the God's tree… hmm, anyway they wouldn't dare.
Having a good friend in Heaven is just being willful…
Yu Lin selectively ignored the suggestive glances, simply nodding and saying:
"Oh, I understand."
He sat up a bit straighter, changing the subject:
"When does it start? Let's begin with some talent show first."
Hearing this, Satan clapped his hands, stood up and said:
"Just watch, one look and no sound, guaranteed to be entertaining!"
As his words fell…
Immediately before them a stage materialized, upon which a dozen or so succubi in floral jackets appeared, their seductive forms tightly concealed, and then the music began:
"Great Hell is my hometown................"
Yu Lin: ".........."
"Hmm, it's a bit… off‑key."
