Chapter 375: Found It?

~7 min read 1,232 words

Hm?

"Yu Lin, where did you get this horse?"

Luoer and Bei watched Yu Lin, who had leisurely appeared riding a black horse, their eyes filled with confusion.

"It's nothing. I met it suddenly, it insisted on following me, so I took it," Yu Lin patted the black horse's head and replied with a smile.

It seemed truly to be just like that.

The black horse seemed to understand human words; a fleeting flash of resentment appeared in its eyes, then vanished quickly, and it obediently lowered its head.

This black horse, huh.

Of course it's Gai Yin.

Because Gai Yin was exiled, he doesn't even know where Eden Garden is now, so Yu Lin simply made him his mount.

Whenever he leaves, Gai Yin can regain his freedom.

"Is that so?"

Luoer and Bei, half in doubt, leaned forward curiously, circling the magnificent black horse to examine it.

Its whole body was as black as ink, only its four hooves seemed to tread on invisible shadows; its muscular lines were smooth and full of power, truly extraordinary.

Luoer couldn't help extending his hand, wanting to feel its glossy, sleek mane.

Bei, also curious, raised his hand to pat its back.

Just as their hands were about to touch the horse's body—

"Hmph!"

A barely audible, yet soul‑piercing cold snort suddenly rang out!

A chilling, ancient pressure, heavy with death and curse, surged outward from the black horse like an invisible shockwave!

Luoer and Bei's hands froze mid‑air; an extreme, instinctive terror, like icy water, instantly engulfed them!

Not only them; everyone nearby froze, cold sweat beading on their foreheads!

Their hearts felt clenched by an invisible hand, nearly stopping, blood seeming to freeze at that moment!

They had no doubt that moving another inch would mean death in the next second!

This horse... what kind of monster is it?!

Just as the two turned pale and were immobilized—

"Snap!"

A crisp slapping sound rang out.

Yu Lin casually gave the black horse's head a moderate slap:

"What are you pretending? You're my mount now; straighten your attitude."

He turned to the frozen Luoer and Bei, smiled, and signaled:

"It's fine, come on, feel free to touch."

Yu Lin's voice seemed to carry a strange magic; the moment it ended, the death‑inducing terror that had suffocated Luoer and Bei melted away like ice under sunlight.

In their bewildered gazes, the terrifying Demonic Steed that a second ago seemed untouchable, as if from the Nine Abyss, now truly lowered its proud head, becoming unusually docile, even nudging their still‑hovering, trembling hands.

That appearance was a world apart from the previously terrifying presence.

Everything that made their hearts race earlier seemed merely an illusion.

But Luoer and Bei are not ordinary; they clearly knew that the near‑death experience was not false.

The two exchanged a glance, each seeing the same shock and lingering fear in the other's eyes:

"This horse... its strength far exceeds ours!"

However, on second thought, given Yu Lin's unfathomable power that even makes Lamai kneel, taming such a powerful mount didn't seem... that unacceptable.

The two quickly steadied their minds, suppressing the shock.

Luoer let out a long sigh, patted his chest, and, still trembling, said, "Phew... that scared me to death."

"Yu Lin, this horse is really something, its temper's quite fierce."

He paused, then changed the subject, asking, "So what are we doing today?"

Yu Lin replied casually, "Just having fun."

"Wait for Lamai to come and report to us."

"Let's go."

Lamai mobilized almost his entire clan, dispatching all his subordinates, and even went out himself, searching the scattered tribes and smaller settlements one by one.

After being utterly deterred by Yu Lin's absolute power, he dared not be even slightly lax; after witnessing his ancestor Gai Yin's frantic retreat last night, his inner fear rose to its peak.

That was his ancestor, the source of all sins! Even he feared that being, how could Lamai dare any disrespect?

Yet after days of frantic searching, he found nothing!

Seeing the sun set, Lamai forced himself, cautiously returning to Enoch City.

All the way, his heart raced, fearing to encounter Yu Lin; only after confirming Yu Lin wasn't nearby did he finally exhale.

Back in the grand yet cold residence, he collapsed onto a large stone chair, lifted a cup to sip water for his dry, smoking throat—

"Sir! Sir!"

A subordinate scrambled in, rolling and panicking.

"Pfft—!"

Lamai, startled by the sudden disturbance, choked on a mouthful of water, coughed violently, his anger flaring as he smashed the cup at the intruder:

"Damned thing! Can't you see I'm drinking?!"

The subordinate dared not dodge, letting the heavy stone cup strike him; he winced in pain but kept silent, forcing an overly obsequious smile and bowing repeatedly:

"Yes, yes, my lord! Terribly sorry for disturbing you!"

Lamai wiped the water stain off his chin with his sleeve, his face grim, his tone icy:

"Say, what is it? If it weren't something important, you'd know how I'd 'reward' you."

"Yes, yes, I understand, sir!" The person hurriedly nodded like pounding garlic, his face instantly showing an uncontainable joy, and he spoke urgently:

"Sir! The Noah you had us look for—there's news!"

"Huh?!" Lamai sprang up from his chair in an instant, the gloom on his face replaced by wild joy:

"Really?! Where is he? Speak quickly!"

"A hunter said he'd seen his traces in the eastern mountain range! That person said you first have to pass the lush pasture where Yaba grazes livestock, then continue east, and after about two days and two nights you'll get there."

"Good! Good! Good!" Lamai was so excited he said "good" three times, rubbed his hands, paced back and forth two steps, unable to wait, about to rush out to report this "good news" to Yu Lin.

But just as he reached the door, his steps suddenly stopped, he slowly turned his head, a layer of suspicion and ruthlessness clouded his eyes again, he fixed a hard stare on the messenger, and squeezed out a sentence from between his teeth:

"If... I find out you're just making up news to cover your ass and deceiving me..."

He gave a cold snort, the threatening words that followed went without saying.

The subordinate trembled all over with fear, fell to his knees with a thud, and swore to heaven:

"Sir, please see clearly! We absolutely dare not deceive you! The news is absolutely true."

"I swear to God!"

"That's for the best." Lamai flung those words with a sinister tone, then turned and strode swiftly toward the residence where Yu Lin was staying.

When he arrived there, the sky was already drawing near dusk, the lingering glow of the setting sun stretching the buildings' shadows long.

Lamai was about to step forward and knock on the door, but he noticed the black horse at the stable by the entrance.

"His mount?"

"What are you staring at me for?!"

Seeing the black horse staring at him with a strange look, he returned the stare, not willing to back down.

"He can't beat Yu Lin, and he can't beat you either?!"

Lamai stepped forward confidently, intending to use his aura to force the black horse to retreat.

But.

Bang!

A dull sound rang out.

Before Lamai could even react to what had happened, he was flung out!
