Chapter 392: Cutting the Tree Without an Axe
Yu Lin continued forward, passing through the Tree of Life forest.
The surrounding scenery remained breathtaking, but his goal was clear, and his steps did not slow.
Suddenly, his steps faltered slightly, and a hint of surprise appeared on his face.
Because ahead in the pure botanical vista, a human silhouette unexpectedly emerged…
It was an old man standing beneath a low fruit tree.
His hair was graying, and he wore a simply styled white robe.
At that moment, he was intently drawing something on a smooth stone slab before him with a brush.
He seemed wholly immersed in his creation, not even noticing Yu Lin's approaching footsteps.
Yu Lin did not disturb him immediately; he softened his steps, moved to a spot near the old man, and watched quietly.
The brush in the old man's hand, dipped in paint that seemed to glow, traced a corner of Eden Garden on the slab.
His strokes were delicate, as if trying to capture the soul of this Holy Land.
When the old man finished applying one color, nodded slightly in satisfaction, lifted his brush to fetch another hue, Yu Lin whispered:
"Hello."
"Ah!" The sudden sound clearly startled the old man; he trembled slightly, took a half-step back, and almost dropped his brush.
Still shaken, he turned his head, and upon seeing Yu Lin's unfamiliar yet harmless face, he exhaled a long breath and a gentle smile returned.
"Huh… that really gave me a start," the old man patted his chest and exhaled.
"Sneaking up behind someone without a sound isn't very proper, young man."
"Sorry," Yu Lin apologized sincerely, then introduced himself, "I'm Yu Lin, and you are…?"
"Yu Lin?" The old man showed a hint of puzzlement at the name, set down his brush, solemnly adjusted his robe, and bowed to Yu Lin:
"Welcome, Yu Lin."
He straightened, smiled, and introduced himself, "I am Enoch."
Enoch?
The "one who walked with God," the RighteousOne Enoch who never died but was taken by the Lord?
No wonder he can appear here in Eden Garden.
Yu Lin understood, and gave a slight nod.
"Is there anyone else here?"
Yu Lin looked around; aside from himself and Enoch, there seemed only eternal scenery and quiet creatures.
Enoch shook his head, speaking calmly: "So far it seems only you and I, the Intelligent Angel guarding the Tree of Life, but he rarely moves about."
He examined Yu Lin curiously, "Were you also chosen by the Lord to enter this place?"
Yu Lin shrugged, "I guess so."
"But I mainly came here to do something."
"Do something?" Enoch's eyes lit up; he had spent long, tranquil yet somewhat monotonous time here, and was eager for "new things."
"What? I've been here a long time, know every plant and tree, I can surely help you!"
Yu Lin did not answer directly; instead he raised his hand and pointed ahead a short distance—to a relatively open meadow where a singular, extremely peculiar ancient tree stood alone.
The tree was not very tall, but its form was archaic and strange.
Its trunk was not a single hue; it displayed immaculate pure white intertwined with deep, pure black.
It bore no fruit, only leaves.
"I'm going to cut that tree down."
Yu Lin whispered, then looked at Enoch, "Is that okay?"
Enoch: "………………"
The old man's enthusiasm and curiosity froze instantly, his mouth slightly agape, as if doubting he had heard correctly.
He spent several seconds digesting the sentence.
"... I spoke a bit loudly just now, sorry."
Enoch cleared his throat dryly, his face showing an extremely complex expression of shock and confusion:
"This… I may not be able to help you."
Cut… cut the Tree of Good and Evil?!
Enoch nearly blurted a rebuke, questioning how Yu Lin could conceive such blasphemous, insane notion!
But the words stayed stuck in his throat.
Because he realized that Yu Lin's presence here, crossing Eden Garden's boundary to this core, already implied divine permission—without the Lord's consent or guidance it would be impossible!
The deeper meaning behind it far exceeded his comprehension.
Thus the rising anger and reprimand turned into intense curiosity.
He was eager to know what this young man, permitted to "cut the tree," intended to do, and why.
Yu Lin seemed to see through his suppressed curiosity, simply said "It's fine," said no more, and turned straight toward the Tree of Good and Evil.
Enoch hesitated briefly, but his strong curiosity won; he abandoned his art supplies and hurried after, like an eager old apprentice.
The two arrived at the Tree of Good and Evil, one after the other.
Seen up close, the tree's aura was uniquely distinct—not the vibrant brilliance of the Tree of Life, nor an evil feeling, but a profound, essential "knowledge" aura.
Enoch could no longer hold back and asked:
"What… what will you use to cut the tree? I don't recall seeing an axe or any tool with you."
"An axe? No need," Yu Lin shook his head:
"I have something else."
Speaking, he raised his hand and gently plucked the seemingly ordinary Silver Coin that had been hanging around his neck.
Then, he called softly to the air:
"Glove, appear."
"Alright!"
In the next moment, the Glove appeared, and its aura greatly astonished Enoch.
He felt God's aura from it!
Could this be forged by God?!
Yu Lin did not answer his doubt, but simply pressed the Silver Coin gently onto the back of the Glove on his right hand.
The moment the Silver Coin touched the Glove, it seemed to melt, embedding perfectly and merging with the Glove's pattern as if it had always been part of the Glove.
Yu Lin moved his right hand, now wearing the Glove, and then walked toward the Tree of Good and Evil that was just a stone's throw away.
Enoch held his breath, his eyes never blinking.
Felling God's Tree of Good and Evil… this is absolutely unprecedented since creation! How could he possibly achieve it?
Under the elderly man's extremely curious, almost glaring stare, Yu Lin stood before the strange trunk of the Tree of Good and Evil.
He lifted his right hand, wearing the Glove embedded with the Silver Coin, fingers together.
Then, he, toward the trunk that symbolizes the source of "knowledge," cleanly and decisively—
swings a Hand Slash!
