Chapter 410: Agreed?
"What was his answer?"
In the depths of Gaotianyuan, at the center of the New Divine Realm that was "partitioned" out by Fei Meng and reestablished by Amaterasu and other principal deities along with their core retinue.
In a towering temple, a slightly chilly female voice sounded.
Tianying was at this moment respectfully kneeling on a radiant jade platform.
Hearing the voice, she instinctively lifted her head and looked toward the temple dome.
There was no solid roof there, but a Sea of Light that seemed to lead directly to the source of the Universe, with a blazingly bright Great Sun, composed purely of Divinity and the law of Light, floating within.
It rotated slowly, emitting radiant light and heat that illuminated all realms eternally.
It was the manifestation of Amaterasu.
Facing the deity's question, Tianying opened her mouth, her face showing obvious hesitation and difficulty:
"Tianzhaodashen… this… he…"
The light of the Great Sun seemed to ripple slightly, yet Amaterasu's voice remained calm:
"Speak plainly; no matter what rude or harsh conditions he proposes, I will not blame you."
Having received the deity's clear promise, Tianying silently breathed a sigh of relief and reported truthfully:
"He… he said, there are only two requests."
She inhaled deeply and began with the first: "The first is… he said he wants you, or rather us Gaotianyuan, to help him… become the 'Supreme'."
Amaterasu: "………………"
The eternal light in the temple seemed to freeze for an instant.
The Golden Great Sun's light subtly contracted, as if sunk into an extreme speechless state.
An indescribable pressure of silence spread through the air.
After a long while, the chilly voice sounded again, carrying a tremor as if amused by the situation:
"…Supreme?"
"He wants to become Heavenly Central? Hahaha~"
Immediately, a laugh tinged with absurdity and helplessness rippled from the Great Sun like a wave of light.
The laugh was not harsh, yet it caused the temple's light and shadows to tremble and warp briefly, revealing the speaker's inner turbulence.
When the laugh ceased, Amaterasu's voice returned to calm, but with a hint of coldness:
"Such nonsense is impossible. Speak of his second request."
"I want to see what other request he can make!?"
She paused, her tone bearing a hint of certainty and faint self‑mockery:
"It can't be that he wants me to be his maid, right?"
With those words, the kneeling Tianying suddenly lifted her head, her face instantly showing an extremely complex expression.
There was shock, there was indeed so, and even a bit of admiration?!
This caused the Great Sun above to ripple noticeably again.
"Hmm?" Amaterasu's voice, puzzled, "What expression is that?"
Tianying quickly bowed her head and respectfully explained:
"Please forgive me, Great Deity! I am merely… merely awed by your omniscience and wisdom! You truly… hit the mark!"
She steadied herself and, in as even a tone as possible, gave the answer that even she found absurd:
"The second request… is… is to have you… serve him as an attendant."
Amaterasu: "………………"
This time, the silence in the temple was longer and deeper than before.
The Golden Great Sun's light settled completely, no longer wavering, as if it had become an eternal, unchanging star, yet the energy and will within it churned like hidden currents beneath the deep sea, tumultuous and immeasurable.
Silence.
Time seemed to lose its meaning here.
Tianying knelt on the ground, not daring even to breathe.
She could feel the surrounding space's growing oppressive pressure and the increasingly cold aura emanating from the Great Sun above.
Her heart sank bit by bit; she thought she had angered the deity and would soon face divine punishment.
Just as Tianying's heartbeat was about to cease from the pressure—
The eternally burning Great Sun finally moved again.
From its core, the most dazzling Golden Light Sphere, a small, denser, softer light cluster about a person tall detached.
The light cluster, like a living meteor, slowly descended from the Sea of Light and finally landed on the temple floor before Tianying.
The light gradually contracted and took shape.
In the end, it formed a slender, gracefully curved figure.
She wore a simple yet sacred White Divine Robe, her jet‑black hair cascading like a waterfall, with faint Golden Light Specks flickering among her strands.
Her face was flawless and stunning, eyes clear and bright, with pupils that seemed to contain two miniature suns, dazzling.
Tianying looked at her, and a rather bold thought sprang to mind.
She stammered, "You… are you… could it be… you agreed?!"
Upon hearing this, Amaterasu's exquisite face showed not anger but slowly curved into a subtly meaningful smile.
She lightly opened her red lips: "Didn't he want me to be his attendant?"
"Then I… will follow his wish, see whether he will act, let the kings of Hell depart, hoping he… won't be capricious…."
Tianying: "………………!!!"
She was completely stunned, her mind a blank, unable to grasp the profound meaning behind the deity's decision!
How is this possible?! Tianzhaodashen, ruler of Gaotianyuan, embodiment of the sun and light… how could she possibly agree to become a servant of an outsider?!
This is utterly disgraceful!!
"You…… this…… that……" Tianying was already at a loss for words, completely unsure how to respond.
Amaterasu, however, gave no further explanation; she merely gave a final deep glance at Tianying, who knelt on the ground, stunned into insensibility.
Turning, she walked toward the Light Gate outside the shrine that led toward the "old" Gaotianyuan and the Human World.
Only two commands echoed back and forth in the vast shrine:
"This matter must not be told to any other god before I return."
"Everything, we will make plans after I return."
As her words faded, her figure turned into a pure Light Stream, entering the Light Gate connecting the two realms and vanishing.
Inside the shrine, only Tianying remained kneeling on the ground, long unable to regain her composure.
"What… what on earth is happening?!"
"How could Tianzhaodashen possibly agree… uh, sigh!"
"It's a pity the Heavenly Central Lord God does not intervene in all matters……"
Heavenly Central is the origin of heaven and earth, time and space, all things; on Neihong's side it is a deity supreme over all gods born after creation, but it practices Non-action and Stillness, not interfering in the world, serving merely as a symbol of supreme sovereignty.
In other words, as long as you don't provoke him, you can just treat him as a background figure.
Tianying couldn't fathom what her deity was thinking; in the end she simply stopped thinking and turned back into her original cherry-blossom form.
Thus she drifted down onto the table and waited quietly.
