Chapter 448: I Love Helping Others

~6 min read 1,068 words

"Tsk tsk, it's really lively."

Far from the main battlefield of Lion-Camel Ridge, in a tranquil valley, Yu Lin leisurely sat on a blue stone, eating a celestial fruit, his eyes gazing at the distant horizon.

There, various divine lights and demonic auras clashed fiercely, the ringing of metal and gold could be faintly heard even from afar, and Frenzy energy waves spread like ripples, stirring the clouds and sky, as if about to shatter the whole world.

It was the scene of Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, Sha Seng, and the three Great Demon Kings of Lion-Camel Ridge locked in fierce battle.

However, this earth‑shattering melee did not last long.

Accompanied by a sudden burst of grand Buddha chant that pierced the chaotic battlefield, followed by a shout full of shock and disbelief that split the sky:

"Golden Silkworm! You… you have restored your magical power?!"

The astonishment in that shout seemed even stronger than seeing Tathagata Buddha intervene personally!

As the shout faded, the distant cataclysmic phenomena—soaring demonic aura, Frenzy gale, dazzling treasure light, fierce divine skill collisions… were suddenly smoothed by an invisible giant hand, quickly receding and calming!

But after a moment, the world returned to calm.

Only the lingering energy ripples and smoke drifting away from the Lion-Camel Ridge direction remained, proving that a battle capable of startling the three realms had indeed occurred there.

"Alright, the show's over," Yu Lin tossed the fruit pit aside and lightly leapt off the blue stone.

He turned, raised his hand and gently patted the seemingly ordinary blue stone he had just sat on:

"Xiao Jin, Xiao Jin, see you again in the future."

"You just stay here for now."

That blue stone was the Six-Eared Macaque.

Because it sensed Yu Lin's aura, Sun Wukong ultimately did not strike.

Yu Lin thought for a moment, bent down, lifted the seemingly heavy yet weightless blue stone with one hand, took a brief aim, and, like a child tossing a pebble, lightly flung it toward the summit of a nearby strikingly beautiful mountain peak.

The blue stone traced a graceful arc, landing precisely on a flat rock at the highest point of the mountain summit.

There, the light of sun and moon shone first, and the mountain wind's spiritual energy was most abundant.

"Hmm, this spot's good. Soak up the sun, feel the breeze, absorb some sun‑and‑moon essence."

Yu Lin nodded in satisfaction.

After finishing, he seemed only then to notice the scene a short distance away, his face showing just the right amount of surprise as he looked at the two figures bound like rice dumplings by a gleaming Golden Light rope, immobile and awkward:

They were Manjushri Bodhisattva and Samantabhadra Bodhisattva!

"Oh my! Aren't those Manjushri Bodhisattva and Samantabhadra Bodhisattva?"

Yu Lin hurried over, acting as if he'd just discovered them, his tone full of concern:

"Two Bodhisattvas, you've been… tied up by a rope? How disgraceful! It's a loss of Bodhisattva dignity!"

He crouched, examined the rope closely, and suddenly said, "Oh! This is… Tai Shang Lao Jun's 'Huang Jin Rope', isn't it?"

"See? I told you! I've said it countless times, the treasures from Lao Jun's house are fun but not for casual play! This rope recognizes its master, it's mischievous—one slip and it ties you up, huh? Now you see how powerful it is, right?"

Yu Lin shook his head, sighed, looking as if 'ignoring the elder's words brings loss', then enthusiastically said:

"But don't worry too much! I have no special skill, just many friends and a jack‑of‑all‑trades learning style!"

"Perfect, I happen to know the unbinding technique for this 'Huang Jin Rope'!"

Saying that, he ignored the Bodhisattvas' plaintive gazes, muttering the secret and chanting a mantra.

A flash of clear light from his fingertip touched the Huang Jin Rope, and the tightly bound rope loosened and slipped off as if alive, then with a 'whoosh' flew back into Yu Lin's sleeve.

"All right! It's untied!" Yu Lin clapped his hands, stood up, his face bearing an earnest smile: "Two Bodhisattvas, stretch your limbs, see if any part is bruised?"

"No need to thank me, really! I'm a person who lives to help others, especially finding joy in helping. When I see someone in trouble, my heart can't bear it."

"It's a trivial matter, a mere hand‑to‑the‑mouth effort, nothing to fuss over. Don't keep it in mind, and don't think of repaying me; I'm not the type who expects gratitude!"

Manjushri Bodhisattva: "…………"

Samantabhadra Bodhisattva: "…………"

Damn it, weren't you the one who tied us up? No repayment? That's enough!

After being untied, the two immediately tidied their slightly disheveled Bodhisattva robes, their faces turning pale.

Yet they dared not utter a word of complaint.

If they cursed… they'd probably get tied up again!

They clenched their teeth and swallowed it down.

The two Bodhisattvas suppressed their resentment, forcing a faint smile onto their faces.

Manjushri Bodhisattva pressed his palms together, his voice hoarse: "…Much…much thanks, Yu Lin, for your assistance."

Samantabhadra Bodhisattva also quickly joined his palms: "Well done… I have been a trouble to Yu Lin."

"I… we still have important matters, so… we won't disturb your tranquility, we'll take our leave now."

Having said that, the two didn't glance at Yu Lin again, caring little for decorum, they fled on auspicious clouds, soaring upward, eager to leave this place of trouble, the farther from this helpful fellow the better!

Yu Lin stood on the ground, enthusiastically waving at their hurried retreating backs, his clear voice calling:

"Two Bodhisattvas, take care on the way! Next time we'll find a place to discuss the Dao properly."

High above, the swiftly fleeing Manjushri and Samantabhadra, hearing the shout behind them, froze simultaneously, and the auspicious clouds quivered.

Immediately, they both amplified their cultivation, pushing the clouds' speed to the limit, like two startled streaks of light, vanishing in an instant at the horizon as if a primeval beast were chasing them.

Yu Lin lowered his waving hand, stared at the empty sky, the sly smile at his mouth fading into a pond‑like calm.

He turned, his gaze again toward Lion-Camel Ridge, glanced once more at the blue stone on the summit, and finally his figure, as if merging with the air, slowly faded and vanished in the valley's restored silence.

Leaving only a sentence drifting in the wind:

"Almost at Ling Shan......"
