Chapter 468: Ending Eternity?

~8 min read 1,415 words

"Are you… sent by the Lord to help us?"

Laide suppressed the turbulent waves in his heart and asked cautiously.

Although the radiant wings behind the other and the overwhelmingly genuine Holy Power of Heaven emanating from his body—each unmistakably indicating his angelic identity—had left no doubt, after a series of events Laide's vigilance had not been completely lowered.

The archangel seemed to sense his lingering doubt, his smile becoming even gentler and more inclusive: "Of course."

"More precisely, I am not only here to help you, but primarily to cooperate with the Saint in fully exposing those dark heresies that profane the Lord, and also…"

His voice suddenly sharpened:

"Punish them!"

But immediately, his tone returned to calm, even with a hint of helplessness: "However, when I crossed the boundary and descended to the Human World, I found my power too immense; if fully released, it might cause irreversible damage to this world's fragile laws."

"Therefore, I sealed away most of my power myself, retaining only enough to manifest basic might."

"At this moment, I need your assistance to better fulfill the Lord's will."

Upon hearing that the other was specially sent by the Lord to cooperate with Yu Lin's mission, the last sliver of doubt in Laide's heart vanished instantly!

If the Lord sent an archangel directly to help them, they would still need to verify whether it was genuine.

But to cooperate with Yu Lin… right, brother, right.

Moreover, the faint glow of the archangel's wings behind him subtly enveloped the three, causing their lingering doubts to greatly dissipate…

"I see!"

Laide's face showed sudden understanding and respect, and he immediately led Liruo Er and Lie Wen to bow before the archangel:

"We have overthought; please forgive us. We will do our utmost to cooperate with your actions!"

The archangel gave a slight nod, indicating acceptance.

Laide straightened up, changed the subject, and asked another lingering question:

"Then, the strange darkness that receded outside the gate just now, and the sudden… damage to the gate—was that you fighting them?"

The archangel calmly admitted: "Yes."

"I sensed this place was about to be assaulted by darkness, so I acted first, temporarily repelling those profaners and tearing down the veil they used to conceal themselves."

His tone turned solemn: "But they have not gone far; they will certainly return, and may be even more ferocious."

"Therefore, we need greater power to confront them."

His gaze fell on the wooden box: "Thus, I need to draw upon the power of a holy relic."

He slowly turned his head again, his eyes piercing the dimness inside the Church, landing on the sleeping figure in the Holy Water pool—or rather, the Holy Grail in his arms: "Not only Longinus' Gun, but also… the Holy Grail."

The archangel withdrew his gaze, looking at the surprised Laide and the others, and patiently explained: "I need to borrow the power of the holy relic to demonstrate the strength I have sealed away."

"In that case, those profaners would be insignificant before me."

"But this will require some time and must not be disturbed."

"During this period, I cannot be distracted; I need you three loyal Knights to stand guard at the entrance."

"If darkness returns, please hold firm and buy me time."

"The Lord is with you; your courage and sacrifice will be remembered."

Hearing this, Laide, Liruo Er, and Lie Wen hesitated no longer.

Since they were cooperating with the Saint, and the archangel himself had explained and requested it, using the holy relic to combat darkness was a duty they could not refuse.

"Yes! We will faithfully follow your orders!" the three replied in unison, their voices firm.

"The Lord is with you!"

Having said that, the three turned without hesitation and headed toward the damaged Church gate.

As they walked, their ordinary clothes rippled like water, and the holy light flowing around them swiftly transformed into each one's inherited Knight armor!

The three stood like statues at the doorway, backs to the interior of the Church, gazing toward the plaza outside now again shrouded in night.

Seeing the three in position, the archangel seemed to sigh in relief.

He no longer hesitated, stepping toward the place where the wooden box lay.

Then, he took out Longinus' Gun and held it in his hand.

Gripping the gun head, the archangel turned and walked step by step toward the depths of the Church, to the sleeping place of Arthur King surrounded by Healing Holy Water.

The clear pool reflected his surrounding light and the wings behind him.

It seemed as if the sacred met the sacred.

He finally stopped at the pool's edge, looking down from above at the closed‑eyed, peacefully serene figure in the water, as if merely a sleeping eternal king.

The archangel slowly raised the Longinus Gun Head in his hand, its sharp tip aimed at Arthur King's undefended forehead.

The gentle, compassionate expression that had long remained on his face quietly slipped away like a mask, replaced by a strange smile mingling greed, fanaticism, and cold calculation.

"Eternal King…" he whispered, his voice no longer pleasant but twisted with mockery:

"Let fate… end your eternity!"

The moment his words fell, a fierce gleam flashed in his eyes, and his hand, gripping the gun with thunderous force, drove it hard toward Arthur King's brow!

"No—!!!"

"Stop—!!!"

Just as the gun tip was about to touch skin, the three guarding the doorway—Laide and the others—almost simultaneously sensed a sudden surge of malice and murderous intent from behind!

They turned back in horror, just in time to witness the scene that made their hearts shatter!

A roar and Holy Light erupted from them instantly, and the three, disregarding everything, spun and lunged toward the archangel!

However, it was all too late.

The so‑called fate‑controlling Longinus gun tip had already pierced the skin on Arthur King's forehead, a splash of crimson seeping out…

But that was all.

The tip seemed to have struck the core of an ancient, indestructible star, unable to advance any further!

A vast, boundless power, as if bearing the legends and wish-power of all Britain, surged from within Arthur King — more precisely, from the seemingly ordinary Holy Grail in his bosom!

The feral smile on the Wisdom Angel's face froze completely, then shattered like broken porcelain, fragment by fragment, leaving only incredulous astonishment.

How is that possible?!

In his sight, within the pool water, the tightly closed green eyes that had been shut for who knows how many ages slowly opened.

There was no confusion of just waking; only a tranquility like ancient jade in a deep pool.

Arthur King's gaze fell upon the nearby 'Wisdom Angel' — hand gripping a weapon, expression stiff — and then his voice sounded.

The Holy Grail told me……

I ought to wake up.

He paused, looking at the undisguised shock in the other's eyes, and the corner of his mouth twitched ever so slightly.

Looks like… you can't end my eternity.

The instant his words fell, the Holy Grail he had been loosely holding in his bosom suddenly burst forth with brilliant radiance like the rising sun!

Hum—!

A wave of light swept!

"No!" the Wisdom Angel let out a short cry, feeling himself like a tiny boat in a raging sea, utterly unable to resist this power!

The hand gripping the Longinus Gun Head went numb and ached violently, and the gun head flew from his grasp!

His whole body was then hurled violently by the unstoppable impact, slamming hard into the distant wall, smashing through, flying backward, and finally landing on the ground outside!

And the Longinus Gun that had flown from his hand traced an arc in the air, not falling to the ground, but instead landing securely in the hand of Arthur King, who had slowly risen from the pool.

Arthur King lowered his head, glanced at the blood-stained gun head in his hand, then lifted his gaze to the somewhat disheveled 'Wisdom Angel', his green eyes filled with icy cold.

"Fake goods.........."

"Damn……" the Wisdom Angel's face showed interrupted impatience, his tone gaining a hint of anger:

"Why did you have to wake up now?!"

He abruptly looked toward the doorway, where Laide and his two companions had taken battle stances, burning with fury, and then at Arthur King, who held the Holy Gun with the vigor of a newly awakened lion:

"A trap?!"

"Then let's see who wins and who loses!"
